I have read the FAQ's and can see the eucalyptus is okay with budgies. Years age we planted gum trees but I can't remember what type they are, but they were marketed as "Koala food" and we regularly have koalas in them. I have just googled "koala food" and the vast majority of trees they consider to be koala food are eucalypts so I'd say there id a high chance they are a type of eucalypt, however if they're not would they still be safe for the budgie, given they are definitely safe for koalas?

Poor fellow, I know exactly how he feels! Many years ago I caused the death of one of our previous budgies by getting her out of the cage while our dog was inside. She flew straight to where the dog was lying and landed in between her front paws. The dog was taken by surprise and out of instinct smacked the poor budgie with her paw and broke her wing. The dog didn't mean to hurt the budgie, but none the less she passed away several days later even though i had taken her to an avian vet. I guess my message, as stated above, is it happens to all of us!
