Thanks once again for your support it means the world to me to share it with you all and to talk about it helps me heal. We had a lovely Christmas, I kept a brave face. So many things from day to day remind me of her. I get teary at night as I keep busy through the day but yes I think with time it will get easier. My first baby budgie hatched today so a new life has found its way into my world already!
  5. I'm a mum!! My first baby budgie hatched today. Its head was stuck a little and it seemed that the half of shell that was covering it's bottom half had engulfed the head part of the shell and it seemed to be struggling so I gently removed it. Mum and dad went in straight away and I didn't mess for long at all before replacing it. I am so excited! Here are photos:

Thankyou everyone for the kind words, I still feel confident this morning that I made the right decision so thats one good thing. Buffy is going to be cremated, my mother in law suggested it, as she knew Buffy and what a great dog she was. I might scatter her one day at the tennis ball beach! My vet is an hours drive away and before I found out the bad news yesterday I had already left her with them and come home, they told me it might take a while as they were busy. Its school holidays and it was just me and the kids, the trip in the car to go and get her and bring her home would have been too sad. So for her to be cremated seemed the best option and more dignified and a nice prospect to let her go free at the beach.

Thankyou so much for your kind words it really helps to hear that others agree that I did the right thing by her. Yes, I have been bawling my eyes out most of the day, they are so sore! I really love the picture of Buffy at the waterfall, it really looks like she is smiling! My mum husband and kids have been wonderful, especially my 10 y.o. daughter, she is so caring and took her little sister who is 6 and played with her to let me speak on the phone to the vet etc, what an angel she is! Thanks again, Trish

Today I had to take a trip to the vet with my little old dog Buffy she was 16.5 years old and a kelpie cross jack russell that I rescued from the pound at just 4 weeks of age, she was all of $25 and covered in poop. This was a long time ago when I was just 16. I grew up with Buffy and took her such places as the Sydney Harbour bridge. One day I was with her at Sunshine Beach in Noosa and the night before had been stormy and a container ship had to dump its load in heavy seas. This load just happened to be tennis balls and millions of them. Poor Buff didnt know which ones to retrieve first and that all her Chrissy's had come at once! Todays vet visit ended with her having to be put to sleep, she is now in doggy heaven with our German Shepherd Harley. Buffy had a strange cough that had developed rather quickly. Xrays showed an enlarged heart that was pressing on her lungs which had 3 large tumors the sized of 10c pieces and 6 smaller ones. This was what was causing her to cough. The vet said she was amazed Buffy made it this long. I was told the only care I could give her would just prolong the inevitable and that she would likely to go downhill quickly. So was best to let her go gracefully. She gave me the best of her life and I owed it to her not to allow her to suffer. Buffy was already deaf and weak in her hind legs and could not really hold her toileting movements anymore, she also had a tumor one her chest that had doubled in size in the last month that they believe was cancer also so god knows where else it had spread as we only xrayed her chest. Anyway heres to Buffy :angel1: always alive in my heart R.I.P.

  12. Still 5 eggs, all with veins and in various stages of development. I did see two moving inside, was awesome to see! I love my egg torch it is a very exciting tool as I do not have to touch the eggs to see inside just shine it under. Such an experience to see them moving in their eggs!

I read in a topic here about giving it to the breeding pair before/after the chicks hatch but I cant for the life of me find the topic now! Does anyone have any suggestions? The first egg is due to hatch on Christmas day. Thanks, Trish.
