Dom Pied Baby
mate that dom pied is good as dont go by size the smallest bird can turn out the biggest hes just young i have the same prob i look at my birds and go mmmmm thats small but then i go to others homes and think **** mine are actually good so dont be decived by size keep him he will grow on after 6 month moult
-
Dom Pied Baby
why not its the dad was skyblue mum was grey green she could have been dd factor Sky Blue = no dark factor (0-df), green series is Light Green. Dark Grey Green = one dark factor (1-df), blue series is Cobalt. Olive Grey Green = two dark factors (2-df),blue series is Mauve. So 0-df X 1-df = 50% 0-df or 50% 1-df OR 0-df X 2-df = 100% 1-df The Grey Green is split for Blue and single factor Grey as it produced a Grey when paired to a Sky Blue. Check the Cheek patches. sorry rip to make you explain thank you though for that i dont need to cheak patches i know you will be correct

New, and Need Advice
Which pair are you talking about? The one on eggs, or the other pair? If I recall correctly, the one on eggs was really thin, and doesn't she need a good long rest, to get into better condition? How is the condition of the other hen? Just make sure she is getting a high quality diet, with lots of vegetables, vitamins, calcium supplements, to make sure she has a good nutritional foundation. I don't know if 3 weeks is long enough to build her up properly, though. i would never put the one on eggs(i think the eggs are infertile) straight back into breeding that would be cruel. i was going to get another hen because i probably wont try to breed the thin one again. i feed my budgies, seed, vegetables, fruits, shell grit and they get treats and cuttlefish so i do look after them. no body is saying or suggesting you dont look after them pride its just sometimes you cant see the strain its having on a hen or cock in breeding untill its too late some birds just cant keep weight on when breeding if going into breeding out of condition as in not big and plump a handful wouldnt matter what you feed them if cocks not constantly feeding hen then hen is not eatting enough as shes sitting on eggs not comming out to eat as much as she should

What Do You Want At Your Budgie Club?
our club does the seed thing but i dont think that it actually profits them its to help us be able to keep the keeping of birds affordable we also have guess speaker nights where either one the club members or a breeder from out of club comes along and talks on things weve done different variates and i do hope that continues as it was interesting learning about a verity you do not actually breed yourself weve had talk on spotting and show prep and verious other stuff its soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way much better now that the precidancy has changed hands no efence to old one but budgie politics and money issues cage standards extra are not why i joined i couldnt give too hoots about all that **** now we just hear a breif two mins of it not two hours :} yeaaaaaaaaa and most meetings ae bird related as it should be :}

Are Auctions Killing Our Hobby
I hope these weren't the birds you bought for me! Just kidding GB... Seriously though - people like yourself are what this hobby needs. I'm only new to all this and you have helped my so so much it's made me want to get into the hobby even more. I can't thank you enough for all the help and support you've given me. The same goes for everyone who contributes to this site (special mention to Kaz) - without it I might've just given up as I couldn't find anywhere to buy any decent birds. Now I'm as keen as mustard to breed really good quality birds and I now have more of an idea of what it takes to do it (as chookerbreeder said - time, patience and some luck!). It's like any hobby really - once you get bitten by the 'bug' you can't get enough and this site has helped me gain so much knowledge, and the more I learnt, the more I want to learn. Resources like this provide people with information and help that they may not otherwise be able to get - that's what newbies like myself need. As others have said - if someone is starting out and they get assistance and help then they're much more likely to continue with the hobby, as opposed to be shunned and discouraged by the 'experts'. The perception that it's a bit nerdy is probably right, but so is breeding any type of animal these days, whether it be dogs, fish, reptiles etc.. Changing these perceptions is difficult, as they've been ingrained in peoples thinking for many, many years. It may be an deterient for people wanting to enter the hobby or it might be a something that attracts people to it. I certainly don't have a solution, but I can't wait to attend my first auction! lol no not birds you got i was actually questioned about a few of them your lucky i am honest or maybe that green hen would be in a different flock by now along with the grey spangle and sky blue spangle your welcome to the hens i just got but now need to part with their good birds but they have not got the look my birds i breed have and this was pointed out and taken in so i spent 200 and now need top sell before i even try them but its good solid advice i have taken two years to get the look i have achieved and need to be careful not to put in anything less so.... i stuck one in for you and a cinnamon grey cock anyways i know you dont want cinnamon but mate your going to want it one day and these two birds are from top studs and both birds untried they are a great pair you will get some beautiful chicks i paired them just for you ill most probably kick myself when you get chicks lol but ill also be glad you got a good chance of some great birds

What Do You Want At Your Budgie Club?
it really depends on your club do you have beginners or new members or are they more established breeders their age extra if the activitys will be club funded or out of own pocket or free activitys if theiirs travling involved or just nightmeeting i find that our club most the people are straight from work no tea or home enough for a shower change then out the door i think a good idea would be every few months (as meeting only ones a month ) as weathers getting nicer that the meeting night could be held at a members home bbq tea and the host gives description and or kind of a basic rundown of their plans and their achievements as i find most peoples best birds stay home and also find that the members do not actually invite each other over to their aviary to often the ones that do are all grouped together you always hear about the good ones at home well lets go see them i understand some dont want to share but really if thats cause why even be in the club to start its about enjoying our birds together showing this one off and that one off id be proud to have people visit my humble little stud and explain my plan so that my club members could point out anything i may have wrong or be about to do wrong just a idea you could even just pull the name randomly out of a hat or go by alphabetical order of who's home is next

My Feather Dusters.........dusty And Jumbo
They don't live long at my place due to human intervention. I take note of where they come from and try to avoid inbreeding those families too heavily. Cheers PT i tend to think their a strain on mum n dad and as are going to slowly suffer im with pt but i havent had one yet just halfy but not sure im going to breed her
