  1. yep i realize i must be careful why i decided to try it now in my first breed hens rather than wait im still not to serious with showing and rather experiment with producing the goods and show it off later if i succeed and have a more reliably stud of good birds being breed constantly yes i am going to only ever out cross to the on breeders stud as its the stud of my choice to use his birds to me are very nice and win or not id be happy n contented to just breed mine to his standards obviously im trying to add a little bit of a difference to the birds but not really a huge one not yet not till i play for a few years n get my bearings with it all genetically took me almost 8 years to get where i was happy with my pets so i dont expect it to be a quick venture but i do want to get it right for me before i go showing much
  2. thank you dean so by pairing dad to daughter ( provided the daughter is as good or better than dad ) will be good regardless in my position as im either going to improve and instill what i want or im going to cull the lot and never pair dad to her again :} okay dean what if i put the lesser daughter with him shes got the good body and (shoulders... something hes missing but ,she doesnt have his head she got her mothers head she still has the ability to hold her frontal its just her head looks like a witch doctor took a liking to shrink it would this a,... improve her head quality's as the father has them instilled quiet strongly or b,.. take me backwards would the fact that she has the big head genetics hidden come out by doing this or am i just strengthen this trait by having the chicks come out with passably dads head and improving them visually but ... genetically instilling the small head genetic or would these chicks be fine so long as always crossed out to very good headed birds in future hope that all makes sence to you :} as its this bit im really not sure i get :{
  3. well its been a year since my very first breed albino hens in feb and finally my wait is over and i will be able to commence breeding them i have already breed 5 split cocks all grey normals with my albino cock from 09 he had 3 albino hens and 7 grey cocks he was breed with a grey hen so all binos will be grey as hes masking grey and thankfully not cinnamon or Opaline his full sister are now as i started above ready to breed in coming months and i intend to breed them with birds from the same stud as their father so first parring i will do is ...... albino hen best of the three to father , i want to do this parring to instill the face and length of body in this line of birds so i will get all inos from this pairing second hen also ino second best out of three to the fathers full brother hes a grey/ino/cinnamon/opaline he is better than his brother so will be instilling the same things to her i hope she has a better structure than him very stocky so hope i can put that into the chicks as well as the length with this pairing third hen also bino hen will be put to my o6 / ino /cinnamon/opaline cock bird he has everything she needs and his chicks talk for themselfs im sure he is an uncle to the two full brothers but even if not from same stud with all the same things im after inputting then i have a skyblue / ino a cousin to the full brothers so he will go to a big grey normal hen that i breed from a grey normal/ nothing cock bird from the same breeder she has everything but the length he has and he has that both with good direction and head hold i have at moment a grey green cinnamon spangle 07 boy gda bird down with a cinnamon skyblue opaline albino hen breed from the grey /ino/cin/opaline full brother to ino she is beautiful exept the colouring so im going to just use her for fetchers they are a amazing pair 4 eggs so fingers crossed as this is her first clutch and first time ive used this older but beautiful cock i will put picture up when i actually pair them up in a few months times but what i want to know is should i do father daughter she is very very very god hen with everything he has just as good as him and hes look im wanting it this the right way to do it :} ive hear it is
  4. spangles are by show standeds ment to have 6 full bulls eye spots meaning a spot with a hole like donuts (mm donuts) and good strong body colour with either white or yellow wings depending on colour variation and crisp deep thick spangling lines with no fading or black feathers interfering with the marks :} even in cinnamon and greywing verigations
  5. that is gret way to put it all dave .about swapping cocks no not in my veiw but may get chicks from both cocks if they have been mating and she lays with a week of swap you could just wait till next year or latter this year shes only 09 isnt she ?? so you dont upset her maybe being a beginner you want results not upsets :} and depends if she exepts new boy so maybe just wait chicks will be nice and he comes from large stock so its all good if thats the jm2 boy
  6. o my this is the silliest post i have ever seen if you think you maid stole your bird and she asked to lend a cage ???? then um yea why dont you just tell her your bird went missing and that it was blue and can you please see the sparrow her son caught as he may of found your bird ??? does she live close by anyway he wont die like straight away he will get very scayly cere and feet and vent eyes be very ugly before that happens but he does need treatment you could also mention to her your bird needs medication so if it was him found please you are happy to replace with a healthy baby if she returns him if she even does have him or tell your mum to tell her that if she has the bird to return it no questions will be asked or she will be fired if your certain she has got it as imagined what else she may take ?
  7. i think that yf grey hen should be with either the Grey spangle or the flanagan grey also that blue is nice but the grey boys would give her the uplift she needs he is very nice boy but lacks for her the needed strength in his top head quills i think anyways :}

  14. hi welcome and i agree with kaz but no more than two birds
  15. i think you should pair her to the sky dom pied cock bird myself or the cf1 Grey he will most prob be split Opaline i think the sky will have cf1 blood the sky blue spangle cock although small he will toss out some lovely direction that a **** picture by way of him sky blue to me is best pairing regardless of bird the dom is lovely long and good direction in mask soft feather i say him for certain his pied marks are also good also prob / Opaline lets hope not cinn lol he has what her head needs in regards to your dark greeen and grey green birds they will produce albino and possibly lutio and beautiful Opalineing their very very nice :} good luck oh and can i say you will get violets as shes cobalt violet also sky violets which is best for violet breeding :} in my experience and opinion unless you got a df violet :} she has nice spots as does the cf1 grey he could be nice if you want more violet greys you could get visual violets from that pairing but may just get greys and cobalts skys depends on grey factor sorry that i dont know :{

  22. well she looks not a day older to me dave so old post or not still kaz :}
  23. she looks to be a full bodyed grey wing to me from that picture but the tail quill is the end all of deciders his checks are blue not purple which clear wings have grey wings have the blue check patches from memory but im a tad ruff on my genetics of late so dont quote me on it
  24. hello and welcome both of you as kaz said some nice choices of birds you will be able to breed a few really nice birds with troughs four im a bit worryed about the amount of cocks you have with your quail in that small area (small for quail breeding )the cocks will fight till death so please watch for any displays of aggression no matter how small as will become quiet nasty you did a fantastic job with the flight and well done for encouraging your little girl i suggest that you take her to the library and get a few books out on lone genetics is the best thing to have up your sleave so a book with mutations and breeding a good but old one is the complete budgie book by john scobble ,colour breeding is a fantastic past time keeps your mind sharp and the nest boxes always hold a suprize i wish her well and you along with her gb
  25. is he already from show stock as if he is see if you can go back to breeder you got him from and get a related half sister with as dave said the lot as he has not much above the head or directional feathering personally i would buy two good show stock birds not actual show birds and then breed them and maybe him to the hen then their chicks together you may get lucky that way but if you want to breed show stock for showing you need to get the direction and wight their as i cant look at his picture again i cant coment on stance but most typey birds as he seems tobe just breed the stance into the off spring so im saying its head and feather ,directional feather and broadness you are needing their most never buy dumpy hens ever what ever you do its way an end before you start id say hes not half bad a better picture in a show cage would help his mask is quiet lengthy its to his shoulders he is missing spots thats not to good doms are ment to have full set yet allowed a odd missing due to pied ness hes quiet nipped in the head area though but ive used worse with great rezults its up to the background and hen you choose the biggest solidest one you can make her not to old but not brand new see if you can see any chicks she produce's if they look like her more than cock guess from me is you may be able to work with him but building a line birds takes years you wont see improvement till your 4th gen maybe 5th with out other good show stud birds input into him in his chosen hen ifthat makes sence
