  4. my dom gal Gary Armstrong df spangle yf cobalt / cinnamon pm1 o10 yf violet opaline spangle borg n skiv 010 hen my own breed opaline light green hen 010 this hen has bit of a story its truly amassing shes looking so good and alive just last month or month before she had a tummo in her neak that as a rezult stopped he from eatting so i cut it out and sealed an washed the wound she was fine with in hours and back in flight in two weeks she has put back all her condition and is now ready to be put down to breed when i decide whom to more later
  5. hey dave its hard for me too :{ im worst for making hen addle eggs i get so exited some pairings i get fertile eggs one hatches then i check so much i kill rest clutch :{ i have to band myself from checking sometimes :{
  6. well his 50 percent rowe brother and 50 dave ganzer his father was the ganzer bird very impressive bird at that his brothers are all very impressive also i could of got a cinnamon violet dom pied his full brother (and full bird )but i think my lacewings would suffer badly with that mix i will get picture in few days and as a full bird in few months exept his wing flights :{ but they may regrow never know any way missing bits is fine to me way he is hes got very nice personality
  7. thats okay were here to learn all of us :} a recessive gene is a hide gene a none visual genetic that the bird holds but unless the other partner also holds this gene it will possibly go un noticed for months even years it is still possibly passed on to the off spring so that their is a chance that you will get some chicks with the gene even if you are not aware its their as its not visual this is then referred to as a split sex linked is another thing altogether :} hope that made bit of sence
  8. yep he has missing feathers one one leg and around bum he looks like he was grabbed in mid flight only he cant fly so couldn't be that and i was going to breed him so i plucked a few myself as i thought he was 8 9 months but he doesnt even have iris rings yet so is just about 5 months maybe 6 so i think ill wait till hes been here for another 8 months let him fit in and all he is very nice when he blows and sits tall just needs to regrow his feathers and hide his legs as splat said hes got legs lol
  9. yes splat it is and dave the pop out is still under construction i have a window that fits the whole wire area of wear that little cut out is i am just waiting to get some help to screw it in place then i can slide it open n closed for birds to come in go easily the size of that small window is big enough though the birds do fly in and out quiet fast just like a barn door where the big plain flys through both ends hee hee cool watching them but it is only temporary :}
  10. just let her do her thing now as the more you fiddle with eggs the more chance they have of being addled great news good luck on them all arriving :}
  11. my pop out its still not finished i have a blind for it and i have two clear plastic panels to stop draft at night to yet be installed and a window to and from flight so i can close it at will
  12. yes and that picture was yesterday 40 deg in my flight :{ and when i just put him in cage so does not do him any favors at all i will let him settle and take shot then maybe stick him in as how cage im pleased with him .. and hopefully he breeds as good as his family they are all very very fertile 15 chicks plus his brothers have had each ( not same clutch last years brothers ) as i said im taking a chance on the fact that hes just bigger than my birds all over feather and wight so they say the bigger ones dont always breed im just hopeing he likes it here and fills my shed with lots of minni me's
  13. some more pics from yesterday skyviolet yf /ino/cin/op cock 010 in show cage cinnamon grey opaline spangle hen 010 grey green pos split lacewing 010 just a few
  14. well this is my new boy and if all goes as i hope he will be the difference i need to move me up in my plight to breed n show quality exhibition birds what do people think i was very lucky to get him and although he has missing flights on one side his family are all full birds i was able to view his brothers father and other family members hes only young not even a complete iris ring as yet i was told about end of july out so sounds about right i have plans to breed him into my lacewings and hopefully some my own breed hens think it will be a bit before i can use him hes bit young yet :} something to look forward too :} hes missing feathers around his legs but not from molt looks like he escaped someones grip hes got really long feathers so cant wait till they regrow they are starting so ... :}

    welcome mate
  16. okay i have a question in relation to bird autopsy im trying to learn how to do it so i can pin point issue of death in my birds up to date i have tried two one a absolute disaster and my second one well i managed to actually open the bird with out damaging anything so i thought until i saw rips one :{ still i did manage to recognize most parts and individually remove and view my question is to rip or anyone else whom may know about the bits the liver seemed to have on the edge a yellow round growth with red vains on it i have pics but wont post i will be happy to pm picture to anyone whom may be able to tell me what this was as my book didnt have it in their as a possible issue of death im sure though it was part of reason for her very sudden death in mid day she was flying all good then i turned around and dead on floor :{ she looked healthy inside bar this :}

    bing is gorgeous and with that cinn violet dom pied hen will have nice babys :} half dom pied like her maybe not cinnamon unless bing is split :} but she is really young not even had first molt as yet so not for id say 9 months at earliest
  18. unless your hen is not split to blue in which you will get all normals in green unless the lutino is masking something eg spangle or dom pied whom knows even a rec gene that the dad my also carry rally you wont know intill they feather but you will get all cocks only being split for lutino and as they will be split blue that gives a chance of the male chicks to breed albino in future if put to a blue based bird :}
  19. looks henish now :}
  20. if the quail are from the same breeder then im sure they will be related as long as their gettng on fine it will be as the mature problems may start 4 hens two cocks may work so if you go back to the place you got them and say look i brought pairs but they are all turning out cocks take your 4 cocks with you say i want you to swap two hens please so i have the pairs i brought if he refuses just tell them well im staying till i get what i came for or im reporting you to fair trade see how quick you get you hens :} takeing the four shows he or she sold you the wrong sexes if they ask about the other pair tell him he actually got one pair right :}
  21. i quiet like that looks nice and neat not ugly :} well done clear wing and you too splat will stop draft as well
  22. any up dates rach on your breeding ??
  23. CHICK HATCHED WITH THE GREY GREEN SPANGLE CINNAMON BOY AND MY ALBINO HEN its fed well and healthy as two more to go :} fingers crossed
  24. i just divided the flight at the door 3 cm away from where door hinges i extended a pop out to allow the birds the lost space at the moment my computer is down and im on my sons so none of my pics are able to be put on but if he lets me ill see if i can get some snaps of the pop out and all for you
  25. i actually agree with matt as sometimes the birds dont sit on eggs even in in out the box till they have layed like 5 or 4 so i leave them all and check at 8 days :} ive had many chicks more this way than if id listened to people you need to find your own balance in your breeding room your own way i never mark eggs
