Black Doctor's 2011 Breeding
im sure you will get some nice bubs but she needs a cock with more frontal hold next time and more feather as shes very fine feathered shes good cobby hen with nice length in her mask i suggest next time you pair her you use a different cock but then again that cock bird came from some good breeding so could really surprise but id use a bird with length and maybe your mauve grey spangle cock bird :} regardless good luck mate looking forward to following this pairing

Are Auctions Killing Our Hobby
"I think this hobby does resemble the horse industry to a large degree. You might laugh but I'll explain why....... There is a proportion of people who have enough resources to buy themselves every winner under the sun, then there are the small time owners who have enough to own part of a horse and if they are lucky enough might find a winner. In budgies the richer ones can buy whatever stock they want in and can maintain their winning status even if they cannot breed livestock to save themselves. Then there are others that have enough to buy a few birds and work with them dillegently to get their winners over a much longer period of time." ///////////////////////// This is similar to what happened when the imports from the uk took place nubbly,some of the big name breeders in Australia today, had deep enough pockets to import directly from the uk & are to this day, still benefiting from there investment . i agree with that but their are some breeders out their with the big pockets willing to help other smaller breeders it is a matter of whom you know and whom they know and weather or not they think your worth investing their time in you to help their is alot of breeders whom start buy great stock cheep or not then after few months sell everything off and pack it in leaving the breeder whoms good faith in them whom may of given fantastic birds for next to nothing to help feeling disappointed as these were birds they let go not as they wanted to cull them but purely as they wanted to help this leaves them with out stoke they themselves could of really used to better the own stud so really most dont help as they have been burnt to many times it took me a year before the true help has arrived however i was lucky to come a crossed a few really good people whom started me on the right trake :}they wont be forgotten either and like them i will go on to help others interested to join the fancy

Some Advice Please.
the dad will stop feeding them when hes ready the longer he feeds the better in my eyes i have a cock bird that in the flight after they were all put in their still feeds the chicks its not uncommon in my flight to see this as dad n chicks stay in a cage for two weeks after they (the chicks leave nest then i return them and dad to main flight no baby cage in my stud i have my reasons for this and i found that my birds are better for it i tried the whole baby cage thing it for me did not work and as i said all my cocks feed chicks for extra few weeks in flight so i feel this works better for me as chick still being extra feed for around 10 week sometimes 11 weeks old oh and i handle my chicks in nest and in flight so they stay tame so you could try sitting quietly with the one you want in their on a chair for few hours then bring in when you see it eating and drinking yourself :}

Some Friendly Breeding Advice Wanted :)
my hens come out to see me when i bring their fresh food so if i dont see them twice a day and as im in and out flight few times a day if i dont see them come out for a rest and breather i would look to see if shes okay other wise i dont disturb anymore i know my birds well though and their daily routine per pair so i can afford to not check daily i do however check on the day the eggs due after first eggs layed as the difference of saving a egg bound hen and not saving one is only a matter of a few hours

Summer Breeding Heat And Ventilation In Nests
hello well i umed n rrrrrrrrrrrrrr red and decided that all my birds are in breeding condition and some these birds ive missed a few times so rather than miss my chance again i decided to fix breeding boxed so that i can breed my birds and they are free from stuffy hot box so no more fryed eggs and hot panting mum n chicks i simply cut mouse wire out to size of my breeding boxes doors and i nailed it to bottom of each nest box and put a nail on top so i can slide it over the nail keeping bird and chicks inside and with all the air they could want the doors a cut in half so i can allow sitting hen privacy until eggs hatched its on out side of door and door slides in like normal if cooler and every night to stop night chill i did a simmular thing two years back with copper meshing but i cut doors n had two doors per box this is simpler and so quick but does same thing no cutting or attaching to door just tack it on the bottom pull up and on to roof and clip on with the small nail on roof ill get a picture tommorow for you all :}

Has Anyone Had Experience With This?
okay so i fanally got to talk with the breeder whom used the air thing and the one they use is raid indoor they recommend only using it till it runs out then not until next hot season or breeding season none of their birds have been affected and its sitting positioned above the breeding boxes Aerosol or not.......its still down to INGREDIENTS okay thankyou :-) just wasn't sure, ill play it safe, won't use airfresheners in my room :-) can use glen twenty it comes in spring garden or fresh linen i wouldnt go over board though but i use this in my flights once in a while if i think birds are starting to sneeze and stuff i spray floors and in air just a tad in air kills strep ecol i and stuff never killed a bird yet only improved their health from my experience with it

The Birds Few Days Ago
ive only had him few months splat since the western suburbs auction but he does have a way to go to get better today i peebo'ed the whole aviary then scrapped floor in vaced making sure to get any residue that fell to ground i took seed and water out first obviously i sprayed all birds and then closed the flight doors for 15 mints so they all breathed it in so as to kill any air sack mite if anyone had any just a precoshion I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE SPRAY BIRDS LIKE THIS i did this knowing i could possibly lose birds AND AFTER DISCUSSING WITH A FELLOW BREEDER THE TRUE PROCEDURE ENTAILS YOU TAKING AFFECTED BIRDS PLACING IN A SHOW CAGE OR SMALL CAGE COVERING WITH A TEA TOWEL AND SPRAYING FOR 30 SECONDS SO BIRD BREATHS IT IN TO ITS AIR SACKS I JUST GOT FRUSTRATED AND DID IT MY OWN WAY NOT RECOMMENDED THOUGH
-
My New Bird
ill put him in a show cage after he settles a bit hes a sook and is not settling well i have to watch hes eatting as i havent seen him eat or sighns he has :{ oh missing bits is his name :}
