Aviary
i have an idea why dont you make around the window a small cage 90 cm off wall or more if you can and height being just bellow window then go out side and make a pop out off the window this way you can have it off the ground and you can have it 1100 out by the side of shed long and as deep as just bellow window again it would be easy to have a door big enough to put a net in and catch up any birds you may need to catch easy enough if thought out first and you could cover top with clear sun tough and make a screen from mess to cover it in summer also can cover half the flight in window side with it to keep chill from blowing in window at night in winter you can close your birds in till morning if stormy like mine on smaller scale inside here is a link to my flight bird room the window is not in here so i will go take picture today for you and ps if likk doesnt work sorry just copy into new tab im still **** at links http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=29266&st=20

Are These okay?
really good to hear hun he is a beautiful boy i remember him well keep him away from others for good two months as if he returns to flight to soon may go backwards again treat flight every 3 months with cocci vet then for summer one time after a big clean out of aviary you shouldn't need to do it again until the start of autumn then next year before the rain season starts this is to get the antibiotics in gut ready to combat any lurking cocci that may of brooded in warm humid months great news let us know how he goes grey sunflower seed is also good to feed him not black

My First Journal
hey love pair two , lute hen , dark green cock bird would put pair 6ix hen bird with pair five cock bird and pair 5 hen with pair four cock bird reason being hen five is a lacewing and you can but you dont want lacewing doms if your breeding for show the exception is if both birds are exceptional and your best birds regardless of mutation /variety should be paired put pair four hen cinnamon light green with pair 6ix dark green dom pied although i actually like you choice of the dark-green hen with the long mask and the dark green dom pied cock as she has the mask n spots he has not id still swap for variety breeding reasons number three cock with first cinn grey hen as she has spots n feather he has spots length mask length/ bird really you can put what you like their are some really nice birds their they are all very workable though and great starters to work and practices adding features with id just be inclined to put best to best though regardless of their colour and variety good luck mate enjoy your breeding thats most importaint oh so are updated pics and posts of you experiences ill be ready

No change yet and by the sound of things there may never be a change. As long as your showcage conforms to the current standard you will be fine. thanks pt im sure my show cages do not sure about the birds though but must be better than i think to be even selected so ill just see wont i i doubt ill get a bird in the top 20 but if i do even that id be very happy with them

How Intelligent Are Budgies?
There smart enough to know who feeds them, everytime i go into my aviary i could have up twenty plus birds on me,when anyone else goes into my aviary they don't go near them. same as mine and they go quiet if i bring in a visitor and if i dont tap and say its mummy before i enter they scatter everywhere as my door gets stuck but not if i talk wouldn't matter what i said so long as its my voice really

Interview With Barrie Shutt Uk
i must say talking to Barrie is not only knowledgeable but an enjoyable experience as well he has guided me over the past 10 or more months just commenting on my birds here and their and explaining how or what i could do to improve i love his idea to get every beginner or interested persons a mentor in the hobby and i truly hope that people of Australian budgie clubs can pull together and do everything to make a bit of time even if just an hour every now and again to ring a beginner and just see how their doing as it does help i know im lucky to have a mentor myself and a few good trusting friends in the hobby all over the world i know one person has particularly gone out their way to do as Barrie has said that's Dave Bates now i have never meet the man but i sure do believe hes on the right track its pepole like him that go out of their way to encorage the hobby and beginners that keep it alive and none of them get enough encouragement or thanks so from me thanks to all you well established or well known hobbyists out their whom do give us younger /older beginners the benefit of the doubt as-we don't all take advantage of your kindness or knowledge that's given by you freely you do make the bird world go round

My Birds (Including New Ones And The Footless Hen)
she seems to me to be sky violet i could be wrong and if i am shes just plain cobalt but either colour she is handy to have and a good hen id buy her if saw her i love a hen like her very handy type of hen usually great mothers two the sky and sky violet should produces you sky blues or sky violets but nothing else if shes a cobalt they will give you sky and cobalt chicks but both beings spangle you could end up with df spangles in sky or sky violet but you wont know as they are white if you could get hold of a cobalt cock normal not spangled can be opaline just not spangled could even be a pied... you will be able to see if she is indeed sky violet or just cobalt as a cobalt to cobalt rezults in mauve cobalt and violet chicks or violet mauve a cobalt to cobalt just mauve or cobalt chicks

Violet Pied?
Just working back through this thread to see the fireworks and came across this. Sorry RATEMYMATE aren't we talking about your YF (or golden face) baby here. A number of people pointed out that it might be a YF, right? That gives you a yellow bird from 2 blue series birds (one of them must be a yf though (or a df yellow face). Or are you talking about a different bird now. I'm all confused! lol i too got confussed i think she was talking about the violet bird first then the violets chick which yes is as you said a yf bird i think it may be pied also nubbly so what is your opinion really need new chick picture to tell that but i saw some darker pins on wings

My Birds (Including New Ones And The Footless Hen)

Violet Pied?
@ rip i was very graceful in the way i responded to k and m and i don't need to be the spot light or apple of anybody's eye on any forum nor do i feel the need to be right in everything i say or would i be so full of myself to think i was the fact she got on her high n mighty horse but was totally incorrect was to me quiet amusing as i am to lay back to be actually a fended by someones words whom i don't or will i ever know the main thing is the variety has been verified and im assuming that means the violet is too a df violet spangle ??? would that be correct or are their still questions on her variety . gb
-
Violet Pied?
yes i agree so many birds are miss judged for variety based on visual look i just find it hard that no one ever goes on the true ( as you said ) man made standards that were put in place after all its the quickest easiest way to conclude a bird then if doubts still( me for myself with my birds or at shows) i will question someone whom breeds or has knowledge of the bird i want to verify as i said cheeks tail feet and i forgot eyes the four secrets to verification of a birds variety
