  1. its great your joining a club they will tell you if your birds are breed-able age so take them along also dont get more birds till you have joined club and get them (the members )to help you choose some pairs they will explain everything you are looking for its two hard to price a bird on looks and id say you did well to get them 20 or 30 each but any more each would been in my eye to much for that pair considering the price you can get birds of grand quality for if you know the right breeder or stud
  2. well finnie to be plainly honest i really am stuffed on these pics that chick 6 looks like its got a black tail in this picture and looks grey green but i know its not i was chatting with a friend over them we concluded that you had clearwings and grey wings the clearwings are in our opinion numbers 1 , 2 , 3 and 6 the grey wings were 4 , 5 however i still think their could be cinnamon affecting some these birds but then again messing with clearwing n greywings messes up the genetic aperiance of both the varietys visually to a point grey wings and clearwings all look full body grey wing so may not have cinnamon just merrky clearwings and full bodie grey wings so ..... really finnie you are truly not real ever going to get a true answer unless you can ask a breeder in your area in life their opinion but mine is clearwings and greywings full bodied greywings at that i really do believe theirs at least 3 clearwings in my opinion and two grey wings im unsure of one of them but i trust my friend as they did one stage breed clearwings so whom better to ask :} good luck with it all its really a pitty you can not get day light shots for us ps i still think theirs cinnamon in their spesh chick 2
  3. hi well i dont know why they would tell you different unless they had no birds the age you wanted so sold you a few younger ones some breeders do pair birds at 6 months an on ..however its not good for bird or breeder as to much trouble can come from it if they are show birds and have show rings the colour of ring for 2010 birds should be blue ...however i still ring a few my birds with last years rings that cam out after September i started purple rings this current years color November after ubc shields bar 4 clutches of noticeably good chicks that i rang for the shields selection it is up to you to take a close look at birds here on forum and other places noting their ages then decide should you wait to breed them to be honest i always take the safe then sorry road if he says one year and i think 6 months at oldest then take out box till end july start aug as the bird will be then 10 months by my thoughts and plenty old enough by theirs can you get closer picture of birds heads and eye i could look again but its up to you also the hen is not ready to breed and you really should get them ready to breed not just bring them home then stick a nest box with them they may become stressed and unwell from to much change and pressure to breed when they should be getting use to new environment but this is all my opinion just remember a blue rung chick can be any where from September 2009 to 2010 September so say it was 2010 rung chick from sep its 6 months old at oldest i would take nest out but not because of age but so birds can become accustom to new home new seed new feeding regime new faces voices rar rar rar ... ps welcome to bird land :}
  4. your hen is not over 4 or five months she does not even have an iris ring and the barring is still just over eye she is no way 16 months old like she would need to be if she was truly hatched in feb 2010 as you say i say shes just coming into her first molt making her 3 months or 4 months or just comming out making her 5 or 6 at most they seem to be a reasonable pair to start with but if your going to breed spangles marks could be lot more clarified df spangles wont matter as will just be yellow so but i dont believe shes that old does she have a iris ring at all infact does the cock ? as he looks young too
  5. this one i think is a cinnamon opaline hen dark green full body grey wing remember these are just my guesses im not a breeder of grey wings and only know what ive read on them however i do think your cock is cinnamon grey wing pied if theys chicks can no way be olive then i do feel that the murky green in last on is just the cinnamon affecting the dark green this is all only guesses you would really have to wait till you breed them to know for sure put dad to a cinnamon hen not / grey wing if he gets cocks n hens in cinnamon you know hes cinnamon grey wing hope i helped wish someone with grey wing experience would just say their opinion as im not confident on mine but makes sense to the colour changes in the grey wing as im certain their grey wings
  6. can you please just put each chick separately from 1 - 6 dont need new photos I am just getting confused with which chick is which the way they are presented at moment. can you put them 1 under the other and label them 1,2, 3 etc... and I will go in order from top to bottom. thanks GB
  7. its good you can laugh at it all and take it aboard it is better to separate breed less issues and history is definitely
  8. all i say is they invented mouse wire for a reason people double wire your aviary (as in mouse wire half inch off normal wire } and concrete your floors end of story
  9. i agree with kaz we show breeders know family history these birds are posably all inbreed by sounds i feel that alot of birds brought around same time in a pet shop are from the one breeder whom themselfs mostly breed in colany their for being very close already with no out crossing for some time these birds should not of been breed tohgether unless as you say clearwing for a true setting of fetchers in a show quality stud even then only if line is not to strong in my opinion or a out cross stuffed your idea and bro sis all thats available to start again with
  10. its looking so good
  11. thats nice to know you are willing to listen im quiet happy to answer any questions openly so long as your willing to exept that i can be harsh at times if i had real issues id pm you but as i said your birds look like a rest is due autumn is time for leaves to fall off trees and feathers to fall off birds ready to be replaced with a more feathered coat for winter people tend to forget this :} im happy to go out my way to help if your willing to listen and learn
  12. okay my guess although im sure its accurate ( may not be as its pics not real life ) is you have cinnamon Opaline Grey wing dark green hen ...chick 4 im working on others just looking something up to give me a definante decishion on your little light green whom seems to be split rec pied also ... is that possible ? I admit i stopped reading post it just bored me :{ but i think i can stop you going mad so ..... ill get back to ya okay back took this from the budgie coulr thing people use alot here and seems has your awnser in it :} Here, "C" represents the normal gene, "cg" represents the greywing gene, "cw" represents the clearwing gene, and "cd" represents the dilute gene. With these four alleles we have the following possible genotypes: * CC, Ccg, Ccw, Ccd - Two normal genes or one normal gene and any of the recessive genes, resulting in a normal budgie. * cgcg, cgcd - Two greywing genes or one greywing gene and a dilute gene, resulting in a greywing budgie. * cgcw - One greywing gene and one clearwing gene, resulting in a full-body-color greywing budgie. * cwcw, cwcd - Two clearwing genes or one clearwing gene and one dilute gene, resulting in a clearwing budgie. * cdcd - Two dilute genes, resulting in a dilute budgie. As you can see there are only five phenotype possibilities but many possible genetic combinations. It is key to remember that greywing and clearwing are co-dominant. The normal greywing has grey marking and 50% body color dilution. The normal clearwing has very light markings and no body color dilution. When the greywing and the clearwing gene are both present, we get the full-body-color greywing, which has the grey markings of the greywing mutation and the body color of the clearwing mutation. Other than the co-dominant relationship between greywing and clearwing, all other combinations work in a dominant-recessive relationship. The normal gene will prevail in the presence of any of the other recessive alleles. The greywing gene prevails when the dilute gene is present. The clearwing gene prevails when the dilute gene is present. Only when both genes are dilute does the dilute phenotype show up since dilute is recessive to all the other alleles. Below are Punnet square examples of some possible pairings. From these you can see that breeding the different dilution varieties can get pretty complicated. 13. i just asked as birds seem to look but dull in my opinion but thats me i would definitely take boxes out but for 6 months not just a few then proceed in putting them back in if your going to breed that way or hint hint so you can colour breed to your little heart is content selloff few off spring or birds in general and get 6 breeding size flight cages and then keep main aviary for all birds then choose your own pairs and breed then separately not only will you get colours and variety you want yu also know how many nests each hens had and can then rest them as needed and exchange hens giving your birds better life style and you get the added bonus of viewing the babys daily if you like handling them enjoying them way more than in a colony style breeding situation more chance of chick hatch-ability also think about it choise is yours but the fors out way any against if you truly want the best from your birds coulors and tame a bility
  14. warragul bird sale tommorow will be club rung birds from quiet a few breeders ive heard i dont know where at though sorry as i do not go i have specific breeders i buy from and stick to them
  15. careful hun she may revert quickly id keep caged for a few weeks in doors myself
  16. okay if i was you i would just maybe try giving her a drop of cod liver in her seed mix it very well and let it sit for fifteen mins before feeding just once a week this will start her coat to shine but remove it dont leave more than 12 hours or can go rancid you could use linseed which doesnt go rancid just one drop in seed a week
  17. okay well thanks i cant see two well but i get general idea what you have how many hens all up and how many cocks and do you ever remove the breeding boxes and do you house your young else where or just leave them in flight with other when they are out or do you sell them on
  18. very nice mate looking good
  19. pair three the albino cock and violet cock the violets got a pied mark he may be / rec pied if you pair him with the mauve yf rec pied hen when shes about 6 more months old then you will get som very nice bubys if im right
  20. no i already cut 5 bucks off just for you they were told to me twenty each i just said 15 to twenty to get you 5 off :{ any ways offers their wont get better than that and i saw some the birds tonight at my club sale and got to say for 20 they were not bad a cinnamon cobalt hen a spangle sky hen and a cock bro sister lutino hen among others a cinnamon dom pied grey green and few others i forgot now however they were nice enough that id buy few still may the cin cobalt and sky spangle looked to good to let go to shop yet just not up to this breeders standards and fact that i know the breeding behind them is hard to let pass so... but theirs lots nice birds for grabs for that price their bargon pet shop birds start at 35 for a green

  24. thanks hilly however im not very happy of late i have been losing birds to sickness and i cant get on top of it i didnt really have a big flock and i lost a few main players in my plan so im really thinking to myself that show birds may be something i need to just put on back burner till i am alone with out children as ive really been neglecting them a bit due to trying to work out how to save the birds and seems this happens regularly not just here in their when i breed my pets for people i not only got pleasure i had challenge to breed beautiful colored birds with show its a challenge to breed good feather and solid color direction so on size but with this comes less amunity to cold chill sickness its stupid the flight i have is like the ritz for birds and still they contract stuff get colds struggle with the winter and the summer pets they are so more hearty im still going to breed show birds but im going to be just breeding one family line from now on (my lacewings ) all other birds im going to breed for pleasure of colour breeding and to sell as pets or show stock if good enough for that but im not showing them im not really enjoying it as id hoped and winning doesnt even really feel good im not a person that needs to win and i was enjoying just showing and socializing however the socializing aspect of things has changed and im not feeling like i want to be a part of it all any more i feel im alot happier just breeding my birds and enjoying them myself i know i can bred nice birds now and i really dont feel the need to be trying to bred better ones than others everyone's birds are equally as beautiful as one another s and i just feel i think i dont want to be involved in picking out one bird out of hundreds to be the overall best bird so having decided this im taking a brake from all things bird before i just decide to sell everything flight and all so the thread will not be going anywhere further till i am ready to restart my show breeding im leaving this sight also for a while i just going to take a rest from everything so all take care guys may your birds all be safe and well like yourself s and to all the show breeders out their may your breeding go to planned and may you have many beautiful chicks good luck at your shows bye for while generic blue
