  1. okay well as i am just a beginner and really know nothing about the nationals bar you have to have good birds to be even looked at to get near even having a bird chosen to go state team i have heard negative and positive but admit more negative thoughts and views im not putting birds into shield selections this year due few reasons bar the obvious fact my birds were recently unwell and as im not certain of what they had or if they were even ill or just heavy molt or what ever happened i wont be risking others birds by showing mine as that's my respecting others hard work and effort i wont risk passing on any possible illness one (my birds are no way near the quality or stranded required to be selected at level needed two ( i as a beginner need two keep my best birds home this year to make sure that next year i actually may have a possible contender three ( i really didn't like the idea of birds being driven off in a Ute in freezing cold weather as was case last year (even though the wear all facing each other as so the did not get chilled im gathering though that was not really a concern of the people more so than the securer stacking in of show cages or not knowing whom is actually caring for birds in-till the nationals or at them ) four ( i have been told by more than 25 breeders that yes many a bird has come home unwell and died very short after and yes ive heard the never breed theory also i will in time be putting birds into the young bird shields as to win it you have to be in it but i first want to build my stud to at least a better quality than i have before even going their and i will be going to a higher person to actually find out the exact procedure of what happens and all that jazz so i am confidant my bird if ever i do get a contending bird is and will be well cared for i do believe though that negative story's are circulated more due to the fact that they are negative but you only need to look at auction catalogs to see some national winners go on to father or mother many a chick so with that i say really it is up to all us breeders to be honest in our birds quality of health yes some birds will be less amune than others to illness and well i guess that's just a risk we need to look at before deciphering weather or not we put our birds into be selected however auctions and any show runs the same risk of stress and ability to trans pass illness between birds feather mites also as i said its up to each breeders honesty and concern for others birds well being as well as their own
  2. Feeding all that to your birds, they will turn to fat & die. macka is right thats just over board i know i was over board queen for a year or two just seems your birds are suffering hard molt best you can do is either a tad probo in water and some hulled Oates in separate dish in flight so birds can eat in warm their blood up a bit maybe cover flight from any draft with something a blind or what not if you think they lak vits then a few days here in their of sol-ivet breeder (i cant spell it )can help with that in water draft is biggest killer and you have dirt floor from memmorie so id give birds a dose of cocci vet or baycox for coccidia 2 day treatment in water of baycox will hold them through for three months which is all you need to do any wet area or damp floor will cause this very quick and no all birds die as most say they can drop one a month and it will be cocci and as its just one here in their people dismiss it but if fluffed green poo dark or light if hunched or leggs seem extended if birds are thin with weather like this cocci is first thing i look at birds can last months with cocci then die suddenly seeming like nothing was wrong bar weight loss but draft has same symptoms so.... when in doubt get the flock checked out
  3. i toss a brush around here and their but would not say im a artiest that is by far my best budgie picture ever mind you i have not tried to drew one until last year and im not really a chalk pastels or oil pastel person although giving them a try of late just see how i fair i prefer my brush work but my poems/writings are more my art the paintings pictures just go with them this hen is type of hen i like to use shes got a smallish but broad head with huge multiple spots good shoulder and is a good handful shes only a 011 so late this year still may be to Earlie to breed her i need to ask breeder her exact birth date so i don't use her two soon she has lot of yellow so will maybe be good for lacewings i thought i dont really know as im just doing what i think will work not what others do i am going to start using dark greens soon but for now im happy with the light greens i have been using i have another cinnamon light green hen from same breeder but i think im going to use her in my spangles get a stronger body in their although it doesn't look like it this hens good length as is the other one i have and may be good pairing for a older cobalt cock i was gifted and have only had one chance at breeding unsuccessfully so far :{ ill have to see as my birds range from my better stock to play stock at moment so i needed something to keep me interested in breeding for shows so playing with colors on side for self and pet sales shes in my show plan though not pet as is the other hen i talk of
  4. just to say thanks kaz for editing my dyslexic mistakes lol like the time i wrote stroke it genitally lol omg the things you fix and no one but you and i know lol THANKS KAZ
  5. well its been cold and horrid and i haven't gotten picture of my chicks yet so far i only have two the third one hatched was a ino but it died before i got to it another one i got to but when i was saving it and going to give first fed well ...the dog ate it don't even ask how so im with two chicks all other nests are empty bar one due in week in bit as i removed them all as hen left nest today my aviary has a leaky bit well its just extra water from the extra rain so i will need to fix that before winter i have an idea but need two strong men to help so thats that idea stuffed already anyway ill work it out at moment its that wet that doing anything to aviary is pointless will just get worse saw shavings is doing its job for now here is a hen for my lacewing line what do you think shes not ready till late this year shes a Opaline cinnamon light green
  6. you can put the bird in a show cage and cover it with tea towel and spray .peebo brand fly spray in not directed at bird and leave covered for count of 30 seconds for instant releif for bird this kills air sack mite
  7. well all them guys are beautiful the cinnamon grey hen will be a great bird the grey cock has great push forward the lacewings will be great for size your doing very well
  8. i do like your picture of budgie, did you do yourself or was it taken from somewhere its very cool and hey ... Avalon house is also corny but what i chose as fox stud is bit bland alone
  9. i totally agree with you clearwing we need to work on bringing back variarty and feather can just balance that latter their is many nice birds that miss out just as the feather is not as buff or the direction is slightly lacking it really gets my goat when a crappy marked bird wins over one who you can see has been breed well not just a fluke because its feather type if that makes sense it is funny to look back at this as although i still believe what i state here i had a big ugly albino blue in all in a show she won best op sex i was happy i won something but not happy she was the bird that won and i believe that she should not of won although she was huge with fantastic feather she was the ugliest albino i have ever breed or seen i say bring back the variety points then size then feather not feather size in then variety
  10. yes albino so any bird you breed with her will be split to albino if a cock bird just only use blue based birds or you may breed lutinos also just no green okay
  11. well your doing well im not much of a show breeder lol im still where your at just keep with your plan direction can come latter you have it its just not in the feather required to show it time is the key
  12. if you want all albinos and your not breeding for show then get an albino cock bird and you will only breed white red eyed birds and the reason he said dont it most pepole seem to think breeding albino to albino small- ens size chick out come but if the birds are not related it wont matter they will not come out small just white with pink eyes
  13. she is beautiful mate id be very happy with her
  14. im still following maddy looking good bub seems to of been struck with food poisoning id say e coil or salmonella some call it yellow belly i believe... to me its just a weaker chick with less amenity but the yellow tummy and purple vein suggest to me it was fed something it could not digest or that was tainted but to be honest i really don't know no one ever really will it just wasn't his time ps this does not mean you did anything wrong birds can hold these things if they even eat bit of their old poo that's sat for few days which i know they do and they do fed to the chicks its that great debate over clean cabinets or deep litter
  15. oh i was just asking taboo i was not suggesting he was hes lovely spots are easy to add he has great feather a crossed back of his head his brothers got nice thick body two very handy birds i actually prefer his brother although the grey is the better bird by feather and quality's i think the brother will provide more useful
  16. i use sawdust on floor my flights which is also used as nesting materials they do not harbor bacteria splat had a great idea of moving the wire and trays position so as the birds are on tray not wire look in her new bird room thread will find it in their nothing wrong with what your using
  17. nice ,well done is he possibly split albino i ask as hes spots are small and most my greys with smaller spots its due to being split to ino ???
  18. you baby looks contented to me hes crop you filled perfect you can over fill so be bit careful as you can aspirate them if you have him in that heat and hes preening and snuggling into you pooing normal and regularly (normal as in not blocked is pooing regularly ) and you leave as suggested seed in floor of where ever you have him to nibble at or millet i think he will make a great pal hes not begging as your not letting him get hungry or as hes just secure that he will be getting fed on time looks like hes smiling to me make sure the tube is to left hand side if your facing him toward you like the picture of bubby above with the full crop someone shared as right hand side is lungs if you put it down until you thumb can feel it in that exact position of picture you are safe to go looks like you know what your doing though lots of loves hugs talking to him and sitting him next to you now will save training latter he will just do it as routine
  19. the only thing i will say though is although it does not afect their eye sight my albinos nest better in a darker position than the other birds they seem to like the nest facing away from sun wheres i normally face nests towards sun apart from that my albinos are normal healthy happy able to see quiet well
  20. thank you finne i gifted it to one of our forum members as a appreciation of their friendship with me the clear-body hen is not a self breed bird i have a fantastic partner chosen out for her it will be all clear-body clutch her sister im going to be parring with the cocks full brother which is a split clear-body cock if all things work out that is their wont be any nests around here for sometime after these three i have now are done so far half of each nest is addled this tells me that my issue is not just affecting the flock birds hopefully the vet can give me a idea whats going on or what i may be doing wrong i know its bloody cold here so figger the nests are just cold as its foggy and i swear i would have time to paint with the breath that leaves my body when it comes out like thick fog as it lingers before dispelling thats how cold it is well when i did my morning flock check the birds seemed really bright as buttons and my little weak baby well its good as gold so the yogurt fed before night as normal did its job ill get a picture when its warmer in next few days (if it get warmer ) i cant believe winter isn't even here yet i think im going to find a few birds wont make it this year as its already very frosty and the show birds dont do to well in cold around here but i can not make them any warmer unless un naturally which i refuse to do as they need to get tough most the biords i lose are birds from other studs that use heating of some kind i now dont buy birds from these people and if i do its in summer only or they stay in the house all winter long well thats me for now gb
  21. okay you have a lacewing cock bird id say it could be spangle markings why its so faint as the cinnamon is quiet dark takes good year for laceing to sometimes turn up on lacewings but its a lacewing either normal or spangled a closer shot of its back i could definitely tell you you have a light green rec pied cock bird and perequito albinos have red eyes the double factor spangle does not remember also no question is a stupid one its how we learn if you get any cobalt hen to pair with the lacewing cock you will get a lovely mix of chicks all boys will be split lacewing all hens will be lacewings in blue series the rec pied will give you all chicks being split rec pied as its rec gene as were lacewing is sex linked enjoy your birds
  22. well i guess i have gone slight of track since i started this blog on my flights so im going to kind of start afresh yet not im going to keep you up dated with the lacewings and my progress as well as my albinos which ive had another chick hatch tonight its not as strong as other and had been trying to hatch since last night well tonight the cheeping got weaker and i decided to help the youngster out i DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING AND YOU DO IT IN A STERILE PLACE i did it **** about tonight as it was touch or go for chick but i still should of had something to fed it straight up as although its still alive now when i thought it would not be its not fed yet its cheeping very softly and ill check one more time tonight before i retire to bed but i will have on hand a match stick and some room temp yogurt for it encase its not fed as yet so that way i know it will definitely make it through the night ill let you know how it went tomorrow night but now im going to share with you a picture of my Australian golden-face violet single factor clear-body hen i love this girl i have her sister as well shes a normal sky-violet clear-body hen here is my beautiful girl look at the little /ino saying hey mum im down here lol so why do i have such a combination hen you may ask ? i have always stated i want to breed rainbows well she will help me in my path along with a few pretty unique colored birds for pets for people here is a picture i drew of a yellow face cobalt cock bird i gave it to a friend not a good picture of it i should of taken a better one before i gave it away as i dont have a copy for my portfolio never mind i guess ill just have to redo another one hope it turns out as good ( i think it was good since i can not draw budgies for life of me ) okay so today i lost another good cock bird he had been separated a while now struggling i also lost his partner 4 days ago also was out of flock in quarantine area sick bay i feel they may had megga as a secondary infection flair up after or along with the bout of canker the birds just got treated for i really dont know much about megga and how to treat for it i was told by vet i can only try keep it at bay as all birds hold it so its back to using acv in water 10 mil per lt every 3 times a week it apparently keeps gut flora good i dont know anyways my whole stud is staying at my house till i can feel my birds are all good no shows no nothing im getting vet to do house call in a month time as he wants to have all birds clear of any meds that could be in their systems so when he does poo n crop samples they are not affected by medication an he will get a true result its 130.00 for a house call then any treatments may be needed on top of that its really great price benefit of living in sticks i guess have to book though and cash on day so thats my update tonight birds look okay all in flight in fact here is fw pics from last night :} albino cock , ayf cobalt /ino cock ,cinnamon / lw chick from a sr1x Rowe brother breeding Opaline Grey spangle hen and a df spangle both my breed birds yf hen i breed and a sky spangle not breed by me possible future pairing just depends on few things i need to look at them good as i only just now n then think m could be nice the yf and the sky violet clearbody a light green hen and a lacewing hen self breed grey hen sky blue hen i breed a young spangle sky violet thats for now

  25. i am telling you now my conure hated my birds they get very protective of you so i would not get one to be let out at same time however any bird you choose so long as your birds are not out on free fly time same time of day would be fine id say so long as you are being watchful over their time out you should never leave any birds out un watched due to danger they can get into
