Well And Truly Plucked
hi sorry to be slow in the action convo about salt but ..just want to say i been soaking my silver beet in a bucket of water with a table spoon of salt for some years now i also never had plucker untill this year when i stopped it (exception of one ***** hen ) u do need to make sure the silver beet does not turn brownish yellow or it has to much salt in the water this is important you can soak any leafy greens in salt water over night lack of salt is a big reason many birds stay out of condition too

G & G Breeding Season
yes watching the little ones grow into their feather best part waiting for the first sign of color (unless you know what outcome will be ) and seeing each little personality grow with them :rip:

Budgie Reference Book
A Guide to Colour Mutations & Genetics in Parrots, Dr Terry Martin this is a good book but only its not just for budgies so can be a little confusing if your dyslexic like myself :rip: i manage though and have achieved quicker outcomes with my genetics and colour breeding in my pet types

Mop Budgie
its interesting that all these mops are popping up all over or is it just that people are now admitting to breeding them now that it seems to be an excepted receive happening genetically fair enough deciding to care for these birds but to stop this breeding happening ,i believe you need to take the Nazi approach to diminish it from being past on from breeder to breeder after all im sure the birds don't enjoy being able to do nothing and as a receive gene the whole clutch is at risk of breeding this future down the trake i know its horride but should not all the birds that breed this be desposed of so not to pass this along further ???? this has turned in to a question now not something i would do but something i would like to discuss  as ending one chicks life based on a short unhappy future and dispossing of the whole clutch to provent reacurring avents of feather dusters in future is to diffrent things in total and i want to know others veiws on this honest points on the negative and positive out comes of the to choices would it be ending the cycle or killing birds ???for no real achivement .. whats your opinion myself >>if i ever get one i would never breed the birds responcable again and dispose of clutch as none breederbale pet type birds and cull the afected chicks in nest before fledgging you can all judge me as mean heartless and dam right crule but i belive in bettering the birds not genetically mutating them to a point they become disabled so to speake and dont bring human children into this one, as i really want to know would it be possable to rid the bird world from these genetic abumalitys ???

Health Issue
sorry mate these are really bad excuse's for not really doing the best for your birds you really need to decide are you going to take he to a vet or are you going to just keep replacing your dead birds and reinfecting new ones by replacing the one that died with a new mate for the one that wasnt quiet as sick yet what im basiclly saying is dont buy anymore birds untill you know whats up with the one you have thats not well now and the one that she is with although may look and seem fine if she is ill will surely get ill to so go to vet get poo test and see whats up please its cheaper than replaceing and killing birds belive it or not

Not Sure How To Start?
it can be caused by few things not just cold although cold seems to slow the egg laying cycle up and laying can become irregular and cause egg binding but other reasons also can do it like bird to young being one other thing
-
Orange Wings?

Split Varieties
thats about right renee like i first said about 7 or so i am not good at explaining things as you know so that was the best way i could say what nubbly so beautifully put i wasnt trying to give you out comes as such just trying to explain the sex link one can to be carryed by one cock as well as receives but its pretty clear now i think and i know you understood what i was trying to do even if i didnt make any scene  or help you
-
Sick Budgie?
i think if you cant over come your parents opinion just buy all your birds at one time from one place that way they will be quarantined together if you want to breed your birds i would not be breeding one pair 3 at the least put up i always say so you need six birds before you start if they both together go get some( oxy b or( sulfa a ) they are both all round treatment that way you can treat them both with just in case they are unwell then they will be treated for most common illnesses regardless and you can stop worrying put a tarp around cage to keep chill of night off them they need to be treated for whole treatment recommended not just once and you need to read instructions and follow them to a t  good luck
-
New Babies
i dont colony breed so im unsure about if its safe on floor but i would put it in its nest again and watch to see the reaction of parents for about half hour to be sure they dont reject it it should fly at about 6 to seven weeks sometimes earlier it should be fine just for now try that if it doesnt work someone else should have better advice for you i only cage breed  so can leave on floor in your situation but just pop it back it will come out again im sure of that
-
Not Sure How To Start?
sometimes we can read read read and research but nothing prepares you for real life happenings i suggest you get a check list of all things you may need and have some money aside for if you need a vet how many birds do you have ??? start with 3 pairs and and get 2 year old rung birds green ring or o8 black ring choose birds that look like they have paired up already or buy as paired this way you may have less probs you can sell these off once you get a feel for whats going on dont for get to ivomectom drop to neck is best and worm them feed them a bit of cod liver or linseed one month before breeding a tea spoon to a 5 kg bag so not to much in a small dish mix it through let sit for for bout 2 hours then feed so it sokes into seed change this dayly as it does go sour and can make birds sick doing this their is less chance of birds egg binding good luck have fun enjoy

Egg Might Be Alive
chicks are pritty hardy i had one i droped cracked the egg right open but the sack stayed intake d so i figured well it will be dead if i do and dead if i dont so why not it was not ready to breath still had some yellow bellybutton food so..... i glued the shell back together with clear wood glue from a distance dryed it with a hair dryer on warm and stuck it back in the nest ,few days latter it hatched and lived  so life is misterious
