Hybrid Parrots
that is not true my uncle had a grass parrot budgie and also i don't know if you remember the apparent black face someone had on here once but it was not a budgie myself and kazzy saw them in the shop before it was posted on here not a budgie a hybrid although no one listened to me which i did not really care and if you remember it got sick very young and died i suspect it died as we heard no more about the wondrous black faced budgie it is not a deliberate act but is passable when flights have veryd parrots as in my uncles case oh and his was a mule and lived only a year and half looked very much like the black faced bird that was posted which i saw as i said and it was not a budgie although did look very simulure

Another Baby Dies
thats so true anything can cut your flock in half not just culling why dont you just keep them flying and rest on the breeding side for a whlie afer all its not a space issue here is it mabe cut back to breeding half what you do now i have 19 cages but only breed thee to 4 pair at a time stagering the next pairs as soon as the first chicks are close to hatching second stager when chicks are two weeks this keeps me with three pair or four pair with chicks continulously mind you not always are the birds i e right now i have 3 pairs with two week old chicks and 4 pairs with chicks just hatching first one today actually and resently i just put up three pair and i have 3 other pair with eggs due early november and some cages spare this works for me although my flock is around what you want to cull so i know their is a massive diffrents but do please think hard before giving in as you are feeling down **** i almost just let mine all out only three weeks ago as i was over it all i wasnt even going to cull just open the door and let them fly so frustration is felt by all at sometime or another

How Old Are These Budgies?
this hen i would say is old enough to breed and as far as in condition goes both cocks and hens need to be in condition or you will get all infertile eggs this is a mistake many people make blaming the birds for their clear season when it is but their own eagerness that has contributed to this happening so ....something to think about i made this mistake one but since then i have learned that this information is actually correct i couldn't tell you from a cere if a bird was in season or out but i can tell by watching my birds whats going on and who is in breeding condition and who is not their actions speak alot louder than a brown cere sit and watch if she is active and chewing things pupils contracting and dilating when chatting displaying iratic behaviour in aviary then i would say give her a go her feather looks good another sighn when the are at their best looking your asured that their in good breeding condition my birds always look fantastic before i put them up also make sure she has a good fat contence on her as sitting nest thins them out

Another Baby Dies
splat if your going to cull birds with half a heart in it everyone's right take time and keep what is going to produce u the good birds even maybe think about what variety you prefer and or which one your having more success with i was given this advice in an e mail from a well established breeder whom i wont name as i didn't have time to ask permission to quote them keep it simple............deportment or showmanship ( stance & blow) & good backskull, cull from show cage..............u never stop learning, anyway. i know you have a great hand standing by you but remember in the end they are your birds and you know what you want to breed look wise so remember visual counts as much as bloodline so don't just keep the better bloodlines keep the birds your happiest with after all you arnt going to injoy looking at your flock if their all not to apealling visually are you remember you dont need hundreds of birds to breed good ones and you only need a few good ones to breed a hundred and in the end you will always get a bird worth benching and taking out a place you have some very beautiful birds and this will be a big decicion if you follow through on it i think you should sit on it for a month then decide thats my opinion but what ever you do take your time about it

Hen Sitting On Clear Eggs
you will get use to macka if you cant just egg nore him... soz mac but some people just cant understand the dynamics of frustration reading glass half full questions can do to you sometimes lutino as stated in mackas own straight to the point words it is hard to answer things without full information im a culprit of it myself if you cradled eggs and they clear then i would really be wondering two things do u have other birds breeding is it worth just leaving her their as a foster stand by if others have eggs due around same hatch dates and if its cold weather dont think a egg is infertile till at leased 12 to 14 as macka pointed out as weather he comes acrossed rude or not here right on that one many a breeded has told me my eggs were infertile and i chose to let hen decide for self i got 9 chicks out of my 24 supossed infertile eggs they were all 7 days layed and in their i had 5 die from none feeding first time maden hens

Another Quiz
You should keep doing them even if only a few people get involved ... especially if you enjoy them! I'm sure the fact that GB and me don't mind getting it wrong and learning from our mistakes helps others who don't want to appear ignorant or overly reliant on the genetics guide here here to that sometimes i sit and kick myself as i have memory lose and i say things backwards being dislexic and the whole thing gets put wrong as i also have difficultys expressing things with out complex long drawn out posts hence this but hey who cares were here to learn and enjoy have fun and just give thing a go weather we look like idiots or not to others who may be a tad more informed but hay look at it this way we all started somewhere and thoughs people who may laugh at our wrong awnsers well i bet they knew the same as we do nothing much ....the only mistakes you make are thoughs you dont learn by so come on give it a go **** if you did do what nubbly said and got out the good old text books or even looked in our breeding expectations you would see the awnser is their plain and simple me i just prefer to try do with out falling back on book ....so now for another read and reasesss lets see if i can do this ..mmmmmmmmmmmmm[/size ]Parents:Clearwing Olive Cock split dilute Normal Dilute Blue Hen ...IS SHE SPLIT CLEARWING..???? i know clear wing is receive so and as renee stated clear wing is dominant over dilute so mmmmmmmm YF2 Violet Clearwing HenYF2 Blue Dilute Cock masking yf2 Dark Green Clearwing Hen poss masking dilute YF2 Cobalt Clearwing Hen poss masking diluteis that better question is the dad carrying violet or is mum carrying violet ??? what dark factor is mum are any of the chicks light no dark factor ???is she sky, cobalt ???cause if mum is sky dad is carrying violet or am i still wrong and where am i going wrong any clues please with out giving it away

Breeding Pairs 2009
yes some one told me iced water and butter once you held leg in iced water for 10 mins it shrinks and butter slips ring on personally i didn't do it as i was told by someone else that i admire a ring is only necessary if you want to show the bird it does not mean a thing at the end of the day bar this a ring does not change its background nor make the bird any better its for show purposes mainly and name recognition

My New Pair
im no guru but ,,, only dad could be split opaline as mum is opaline to get a opaline chick he must be split if you have a dom chick you will see a patch on head thats pink in colour or white compared to rest of babys skin colour if a rec pied one the wings skin colour will have spasmatic darker marks here and their about now so you will be able to tell all chick cocks will be split to cinnamon and if dad is split opaline cock or hens could be opaline any that arnt cock wize will be split opaline and cinnamon not a world of help but a bit Austin - DEC cock And Cindy Dom pied hen - not sure if she is split recessive witch is what I need for more DEC's but my first few breeding pairs will be a learning curve for me...I did get a split recessive in my last purchase of birds but she is in quarantine for a while and these 2 seemed to have paired up in the avairy so I will see how it goes...

Mauve Budgie
yes macka you are right i left that out with violet cheek patches all mauves have violet patches or they are not mauve birds mutations are determined by colour of their patches and tails and not the body colour as so much can very in the body colour but the patches are always right tails feet irisses ect all birds have a set mutation classification you can find them in any good book on budgies mutations and genetics

A New Test.
Hey GB can you please clarify what this means? I don't quite understand the 1 factor - do you mean single factor violet? And just one other thing -ummmm please correct me if I'm wrong but all chicks from a double factor dom pied are going to be dom pied regardless. Even if they are a combo dom pied/rec pied they are still going to be pied and not normals.yes you are right i did make a massive boo boo i ment (the chick ) is ... normal dom pied one factor sky violet(yes) hen and you are on the right track but you are missing a fact or two right what your out come for chicks genetic splits would be and then think about the mum and dad and what they are split for it is a fair dink um result not a test on if people can tell me its imposableor cant be done look again at what i asked but remembering that one bird is a dom (the one i forgot mutation onbut the mum is what i said df dom cin op 1f sky violet henim going to bed but give it a go some one must know awnser if its all confussed i will re write tomorrow with out mistakes kk
