  1. im glad she is shannon i love that you did take her to vet i knew she would be fine ,but didnt want to get your hopes up my boy broke a leg and the leg died and came out the skin vet was not open and i needed to surgically remove the leg myself the vet said when i got him their a day later that if i hadnt have done that he would be dead from blood poisioning vets are great with removing leg bones and stuff my boy was flying in a few days and as you said a week inside hes still happy just needs extra care with things like cleaning his eyes as he cant do it himself with one leg ps i do not recommend anyone taking this kind of thing into their own hands i have had experiance with hurt and injered animals so knew what i was doing and had the right sterile equipment their is a particular way to amputate a broken leg thats dead if the leg was not dead i would not have gone to that extream
  2. i cook and mash potato with milk and water tiny bit of salt as for frozen veg i just bring to boil but stop soon as its starting to boil dont boil sweet potato you can give raw
  3. it is dominant not recessive  so their you go it is wrong  and as you say only the df yf breed the yf on so mabe thats what they ment mabe they ment split for when you get a df
  4. Hi there GenericBlue, well is has improved big time as the cock bird is mating up to the female with 5 minute of them being placed into there breeding cabinet. I highly recommend you trying this and you will not go back to having them in the same avairy together. yes i was considering doing this but with my show stock i love watching the hens and cocks interacting so pets can stay together i will give it a go i was concerned the cocks would bond to close and not want to mate .??? oviously not
  5. i have a book that says the same info that all chicks will b split yf i dont think its true as i have been breeding gf for long time pet types and i havent breed gf chicks from one of the white faced ofspring yet and my pet types all blue based birds  i say that is wrong but i really dont know for sure but from experience wrong

  8. im sorry but i cant stand this lady she has all these little movies on budgies and no real clue i looked at a few the other day very wrong info as for tameing bird with starvation 6 hours is a long time for a baby to go with out food i have tamed birds with useing food as the way they conect but never starved for six hours it starts in the nest then when bringing baby inside i would only feed them from my hand their is a big diffrence though as i was offering food every half hour to my babys on my hand who did come to me and all of day they had food in cage all night and then when morning comes take food out placed on bench next to me tip the seed into my palm and then they come to eat from you then replace babys with seed just removing and placing it in your hand every half hour or hour never trying to pat them though this is used to make the bird asociate you with food so when you let them out they fly to you and are not afraid or do not fly all over house that woman sucks and its not a good thing to starve birds but food training works very well if done right
  9. well then something very weird is happening at my house   because they all sideways on my computor ????? i bet its bob again
  10. thanks mate well managed to take pics and i have them from little to now so hope i can post all pics and the right way up   okay cin dom pie x sky blue boy at start then i took 3 eggs and gave to mauve dom to hatch so cin dom has three to raise same chicks they were taken today today mum n dad now the dom pie and violet spangle therir are more babys but no room to post pics so the mauve dom hatched all her foster eggs ,three from dom x violet ,and three times cin dom x sky and the df cin dom and gf opaline sky spangle hatched 4 chicks so far splat hens seen not to be hatched yet so ??? i gsve her a hatchling from this morn and the df doms other two eggs just so she can have chicks if her two eggs dont hatch lacewing still not due yet
  11. thank you all do you think they have quality about them ??? im loveing the light green spangle split albino and the grey opaline hen who i have named dark vader as her mask looks like his cap this her first out nest can anyone tell me why my pics are all comming out side ways ??? i am rotateing before atatching to sight
  12. thank you kaz shannon i have two very nice lacewing hens im sure i could go out and buy one we have good lacewing breeder very close by but i want to use what i have my lacewing is not half bad nor is her sister but i want to build my stock up myself not just start with all quality or its just not fun improvement is what its about for me for now not size not anything else although i do love long birds i want to get my markings good then upsize down track my birds are not to small although pics seem this way i want to win on bench last and breed quality first
  13. well i thought i would show you my last lot of chicks that came out the nest resently you have seen them before but they have gotten bigger than i thought im still not sure they have the quality needed for showing but they are going to be staying as im very happy with their markings something im very fussy with their is one or two that can be breed for my show stock lucky for me they are both split for albino that makes it hurt less first group shot blue opaline spangle hen opaline grey hen and spangle grey cock spangle cock brother to grey opalines both the grey opaline hens sisters the better of the two my blue spangle cock brother to the blue opaline hen albino split lacewings brothers again the better one at front and again grey spangle cock and the lesser brother of the albinos grey green split albino cock blue spangle cock in back both spangle and grey green hen brother and sister as with grey green cock above spangle light green split albino brother to both above thats everyone just more pics now of them all the albino hen is the mother of the grey greens and light green spangle okay so you can get idea of babys size the mauve violet cinnamon split lacewing cock is in picture with albino and grey green hen
  14. i will aventually be doing that but my girls need a rest one just finished raiseing 6 chicks and one just finished raiseing 4 so...i only got the two hens that are lacewing
  15. the way i remember what is rececive is that i have a little saying receive gene is not seen it can be king or queen dominant trate is in your face , and for sexlinked genes . sex takes two ,if only one it splits the fun ,corny i know but helps me remember
  16. i was lucky i even got him kaz had her eye on him he is going to be one of my foundation birds for my lacewing line i hope i get some chicks from him he is very lovely untryed so.... i dont see any reason why i wouldnt still havent decided how to use him yet put with a really good cin grey hen or straight to one my lacewing hens im not good with pairing so... will all be trial and error for a bit
  17. very very nice normal blue cock their shannon also yes the both hens and cocks will be split clearwing it is a rececive gene
  18. thanks shannon im very pleased with them richo the bird is not starring into heaven lol its eyes are covered by its feather direction he has lovley big round eyes under it all
  19. well i got my new cock birds must be few weeks ago now 10 aug to be exact 4 boys all up 3 split for lacewing and one lacewing (blue based) you are going to have to turn your heads lol as after i preveiwed post the pics had not rotated as i had done why i have no clue but was not about to spend another hour redoing them all sorry theses boys are to replace my original buy in which i decided not to breed with due to their flightlessness first we have a : light green opaline split lacewing he has the eagle look i love and aim to put into my growing stud he is a lovely long bird and sits very tall unfortunately not when photos being taken lol although this one bit better next my : cinnamon normal split lacewing cock he has more of the look the show bench is after at moment im to believe, he is a beautiful bird and also sits beautifully split blue as well always a nice bonus then my grey green normal split lacewing he is kind of in between the both looks the other pics of him are on my unks cam along with some better shots of the others these taken with my phone so... last my lacewing boy which i got for markings as his are lovely but he has more to him than i expected so im quiet happy well thats them all doing fantastic i dont have breeding plans as yet as im not putting birds up as yet i was aimming for 13th aug but decided that the weather is just still to cold so am waiting for a warmer period to arive hopefully mid september but will see other wize im waiting till end feb start of march next year to start my breeding besides i still havent got rings and im a bit discoraged as i had some nice birds up and some nice chicks that missed getting rung all my first show bred babys and looks like second round the same story so im going to wait for rings before i breed theses guys im very happy with some the birds i have brought and have a few more to come inwhich after my stock will be compleated and my breeding can really get started i should beable to achive a really nice line with some the birds i have planed eg next year this pairing my cinnamon split lacewing and my cinnamon opaline spangle hen how ever i will need to hope if i get a lacewing that it is only opaline and not opaline spangle if at all i get one this pairring is more to see the quality diffrents for myself from the breeding of to birds with lovley quality's the eagle look and the lion look i believe it will combine nicely
  20. good luck mate hope she makes it
  21. they are very cute i myself wont comment as i decided not to remark on things on the forum anymore but my i wouldn't ever leave others in charge of breeding birds unless they knew how to manage birds or breed them selfs thats only comment i will make and thats as you never have success due to them not having proper knowledge and not knowing what to do if things go wrong :emoticon112: you have recognized this thats the good part
  22. well i dont see how it can be i been around birds my whole life but ..... 2 more chicks hatched from the eggs fostered to dom pie mauve hen today so she has 4 babys now with to eggs left to hatch lacewing seems to have all infertile eggs 1151 but 1128 has two to hatch splats due in day or two i hope babys are so far 4 dom pies ,1 pos rec pied if not 5 doms the wee babys are but two days and one day old so ... df babys only few days also but one cinn, opaline still 3 chicks today i took pics but cant download till weekend usb hub broken bro fixing sunday  13 chicks so far 8 defenent infertile eggs so far
  23. If you put a clearwing to a normal you get normal split clearwings if you put a clearwing to a dilute you get clearwing split dilutes. So you can bypass breeding normal splits but then you have to be careful about where the dilute ends up so you don't end up with a whole aviary full of dilutes. thats very simular to what im doing with my albinos, lacewings and cinnamons cuts out years of breeding but you do have to have very good book work i love the opaline boy he is so cute
  24. thank you i have been very sick for some time now and really dont want my birds to contract it from me i have got blood test yesterday and sad thing is the birds could be part of the cause my familey has allergys to lots of thing and well mine have been worse and getting worse every year more so since i started breeding again my brother cant even visit me as he is highly alergic to my birds and has heart pulptations and cant breath when he goes near my back yard i have had very symulor symptoms of late so....fingers crossed going to get some pics now while sun is out
