  2. oh how sweet i didnt vote this monthi missed out its very cute mate :cake:
  3. id go with nubbly not just as shes a judge as shes usually correctas she breeds clearwings were all wrong sometimes but i did think clearwing badley marked myself so... i dont know to much about them but i do know that i been looking at a few of late and badley marked ones and they look same as yours so... as we all say here its so hard to really be acurate with just pics and ones with flash even harder when im stuck on a mutation i just grab all pics i can and books i can and just compair them all you kind of get use to what you breed so can tell mostly straight up even if not a good example of a mutation what is what
  4. Bingo! And if an auction gets a reputation for just offering rubbish birds, there won't be any serious buyers turn up anyway. A whole hall full of people trying to sell rubbish to each other just isn't going to help anyone. Mind you the "pretty bird" brigade still operates in these circles too so if you put in a rubbish violet or something more in the blue range, it'll often still bid well. You can tell who the real breeders are by what they purchase too. Good features in a grey green snapped up for a bargain = breeder who knows where they are going. Tiny little blue bird heavily competed for = breeders still stuck in "pretty bird" land. This is "Nubbly's simplified scale of show breeders". A bit of a generalisation of course. AND not a judgement on pet budgie breeders either I think that if you choose to do that, that's great but I think that breeding good show budgies takes so much effort and dedication that trying to be all things to all people is a hiding to nowhere. Hence a lot of us show breeders often have trouble moving our culls as it limits your selling market to other show breeders on the whole. Are there many Budgie clubs in Indiana, Finnie? Or in the US generally? i agree with you nubbly about the auction thing you can tell whos their to better birds and whos their to buy lots of big names to breed a hopeful i as you all know breed both pets and im having a go at show i have totally different principals for both birds i breed but i do find as i breed pets also the more experienced show breeders still look at me as if im going to get no where fast this makes my task harder to gain good stock as some breeders believe their sending good stock to be wasted why dont they have much faith in us beginners thats what i want to know as kaz said once . most start out with pet and move up this is simply what im doing i just plan to take my time before putting something on the bench as i want to get my own line happening this is soooooooo not easy theirs so much to work out and its not like the foundation bird i choose is going to be good just as he is good and has background its very hard to getinto showing birds and if it wasnt for people like yourself nubbly who do sell decent cull birds here i for one would still be looking for a few good stud cocks i guess i just cant understand how so many birds can be breed each year with no where for them to be sold when theirs so many beggiers out their looking for a few lesser birds to begin with i do understand you now macka just i guess im just finding it very hard to get anything worth even breeding so i for one am willing to look at all and if even one screams out i would grab it i decided to just slowly breed my own birds for my breeding just takes time as not all birds are great standed when your cocks are good but hens are not worth their genetics this is where im stuck right now :cake:
  5. im not sure i thought it to be light but my memorrie only comes when it wants its so hard for me to retain things and only certain things jolt it so why i often get confussed here but some times things people say jolt my memorory and i remember stuff...weird but ....light green i think dont quote me

  14. All clothes are in the washing machine and I have had a very thorough shower! :hi: okay, good advice ~ Thank You welcome and good luck they get pretty atatched to their feeder and it may start following you around as it grows we usto take ours out to the back and dig it worms dad would teach it to eat by tossing it a few worms and making it pick them up its self they are reliant on their mum for a while dad would need to incorage it by letting worm wiggle on his hand near birds beak sometimes just putting it in beak a tad they get the idea but always cry when hungry every 3 to 4 hours like budgies ren while little salatters or butcher boys as some call them are also loved food you can just feed it whole ones of them also raw mince can be feed but with all the stuff put in it these days id go dig worms
  15. i rassed heaps thoughs things as a kid it will let you know when its hungry ren and just soke some bread in milk and yolk not to soggy but not hard it has to be like when you dip it into warm soup he will eat thet you may need to open its beak by gentally pressin the sides where its soft near its lets call it cheeks then just poke the bread in to the back of its throught with your finger keep pokeing untill it is right down it wont choke its what its mum would do just like most birds behind the tounge and your all good they love worms also just mushed with a fork their hardy and hard to kill
  16. well 22 cm is still long i think you will find its 12 cm from cere to tail tip anything more is a bonus but i cant remember i will get out the book and come back
  17. mabe my screen is stuffed but it looks blue as from where i sit i still think its a boy but then i cant ever tell sex from photo unless its close up even then sometimes not

  19. Thanks Nubbly....she's a little beauty I wasnt too happy about that either............wont encourage others to be offering birds next auction, will it ? well some the pet shops cut the rings off birds to to sell ld culls its a dodgie world out their when it comes to birds show birds especially as for birds from the bes cinnamon grey greens i would happliy buy some nubbly for my pets all you need to do is split it all to blue all to blue bluBLUEe blue split to blue my darlins just takes longer to get what you want but patients is what good birds and nice colours are about as for your stock hens not atracting any bids a lacewing being amongst them any lacewing is a good lacewing as their so hard to grab hold off you just have to breed your own from others undersized or not up to standed ones you have m,y number and my interest i agree with kaz you nubbly 5 are a great show breeder and your culls have done me good so far and i look forward to more in future of certain variatys so any others you may have that fit no where or you dont want to admit  admit them to me you may be saprized im in the shop for small even badly marked clear wings for my pet line to name one mutation and as i said a grey green cinnamon / to bes well jackpot for me as a pet breeder for my show i agree but pets anything goes
  20. thats a okay idea if the fires not close but its ember attack only when i was in fires last year however we had shade cloth and sprinklers on aviary 24 /7 when the fires came through and passed the shed got so hot the birds water had evapuated dry with in half hour the aviary was 60 degree when my brother returned to it i was certain my birds were all going to be dead but i didn't lose one the all went to ground and sat it out i was very lucky he gave them all fresh water straight away the aviry stayed warm for days as was covered for next few days with more ember attacks i when i returned to find we were at risk yet again and in middle of it all put all birds into holding cages and trailer tarp then left town with my uncles help bless him birds are pretty reziliant i found out then
  21. Not the authorities...the news No well it has to be better than mine was
  22. okay so i understand where your comming from nubbly but you sell lesser culls to breeders whom may beable to bennifit and their is no such thing as an unuseful colour in show stock as its not a colour related thing untill you get breeding for quiet some time yes no pet breeder wants grey greens i give you and macka both that but show breeders want certain qualitys and traits not colour sceam so...i understand that any good breeder would not sell their apsalute really unusable birds as in 5 year old hens ectra internal layers ,bad pluckers list goes on myself i sadley but inedivbaly send thoughs guys to heaven as does ren unless i can find a free to good home i started my next door person with a small flock they take my unbreadebal but young birds provided they are healthy other wize for free i even give them seed as they dont breed them they are for looks only i also treat their birds for worms and such its kind of a extention to my own flock but i dont need to care for them just the 3 month wormmer ivomectom ectra i know we cant all do things like that and like you said their is some birds that just cant go anywhere their the ones that i have to send to god but that is not many birds mackas talking 400 birds per cull they cant all be **** usless birds nubbly not the whole lot of them im not wanting pics i know macka has good birds i just dont understand what he calls rubbish thats all i want to know no breeders or just lesser breed birds thats all i want to know i guess its none of my buissness really i just found it hard to belive with the birds he has that all his culls were **** .
