  1. He is very bright. The vet says she doesn't know what the lump is but agrees its in the crop and is mobile. Says its too rubbery to be food and she tried to break it up by feeding him some Hartmann's solution and it didn't budge. She says as long as he keeps feeding well its not an issue. I was just guessing at 3 weeks based on my limited experience. I wouldn't be surprised if he's only just reaching 3 weeks now compared to other members baby birds. I don't think he's that small: Did you see these photos I posted yesterday? Now I'm worried he's small aswell Poor little guyHim sleeping in my husbands old boxer shortshttp://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad343/JC154949/8Jana.jpgPreeninghttp://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad343/JC154949/8Janb.jpgWing stretchhttp://i950.photobucket.com/albums/ad343/JC154949/006.jpg yes i did its okay im sure hes fine if hes all bright and sparkle then all is good enjoy him more stress less he will feather up he doesnt have the same crop food so will feather diffrent i guess i have no idea to tell truth dont listen to me

this is why i asked as pairing a dom with a df dom well yes you get doms he hee but with the other hen you will get single factor doms in lovely colours but then again the df dom is green so all chicks would be green unless hes split blue the hen looks to be cobalt single factor gf ( mabe violet but dont think so )flash was use right ? do you know much about the birds backgrounds is the cocks split to anything i guess its all just for fun by sounds of it no real colour or mutation wanted for bar dom and well you will get that but swap the pairs aroundyou will get more doms straight up
  5. best advice i can give is if you got him from a member ring them with your concern as they will be able to better assist you after all it is from her flock
  6. you really do need a visual to help you out their are so many types of breeding cages set ups with out seeing what you plan to use its hard to help take a look through the breeding journals lots of cages set up with pairs in their from all difrent people
  7. what month budgie mag macka i just got mine few days ago and their is no write up with Henry George i can see a really good read about the Flanagan Shepard partnership but mabe thats as i really love their birds i find it interesting a few things that were written as i myself use some the methods they do methods i find it very interesting reading what other breeders do and dont do their is such a variation of ways :what: i got some more shots of another few pairs but cant put up as yet as my com being fixed and im not aloud to put things on my sons com so but my next pairring im hanging out for is a grey opaline dom pie and a grey cinnamon hen i think their both something special love to hear your veiws pics in next day or two

  9. how old is he did you say again as i dontthink hes feathering propply when i look at my chicks at three weeks and him :what: maby its just me well u are doing everything you can dont feel lost its not easy raising a small chick and he seems bright enough i think all should b okay
  10. snap i got french moult first time ever i got dead in shell first time ever i got splayed legs, plucking hens and abandoned nests first time ever as you say splat birds are meant to molt through out the summer twice one large and one small its to hot for feeding screaming chicks the chicks get heat exhaustion, dehydrate if the water supply is low as the birds wont drink hot water from small dishes or drinkers and keeping the water cool through out a hot 37 to 38 plus day requires at least 5 water changes a day even with these doors i made with copper messing to help chicks keep cool its no good i rather healthy birds over many birds and my birds got rundown before i even breed them and got sick from what we still dont know never never never again the birds i have paired but not nestting are looking fantastic so hopefully when the heats gone and autum starts i will have a few nice pairs incondition if not well i will simply just wait a tad longer :what: if i did not help 6 of the chicks just recently hatched they would have died from exaustion trying to de shell so.....and i would have put it down to dead in shell as they couldnt excape i see a chick start a way out if by that night chick is not chirpping much and egg is darker its time to step in but not before

welcome to our family beautiful budgies you have
  14. thankyou guys yes it would be good to be a cock im hopeing as if it is then i will have a lovely pair in the future with my own breed birds the lacewing hen that hatched was from one nubbly 5 cocks my light green opaline /lacewing cock its mother is the sister to the lacewing that passed and the father of the chick im hopeing to be a /cock is a fantastic bird breed by borg and skivington partnership he has the most fantastic mask and spots :what: as for birds being healthy well they look fine but i do feel that somethng s up what ....mmmmmmmmm i dont know but...as you said splat with them all being doxcyed and turbosoled not much more i can do next is a probo once treatment is seized and for say a week i think then some lots of veg and fruit then im going to baycox the lot of them and pro bo once more after that for three days then rest till end april start of may for some autum chicks mabe i dont know yet im all out of wak one thing is i will never breed in summer again this year i tryed for first time and no i dont think i will ever again i shall go snap some pics of babys today and put up when i get a spare moment
  15. they only feed a tiny amount first up but still its no harm to make sure
  16. yes that just clearly shows im wrong with my guess ...lol but its great to have a new way to actually deturman whats what so your saying like in a lacewing ...lute situation the tail quill its self not the actuall colour is the key thats fantastic info thank you so much and um finne .....im wrong e errrrrrrr :fear seems your birds a greywing so egg- nor me
  17. okay going on this picture im going to say a clearwing the reason i say this is that greywings specially full bodyed which if it was a grey wing it would have to be ... are darker grey in tail turning the tail more off coloured to the body this tail is a lovley strong colour blue ...ish so im going clearwing heavily marked as the patches are out specially if its a violet bird or violet carrier by way is the dom in this picture a clearwing it does look greywing to me but its at a distance and looking at its cheeks it screamsgreywing as it has light violet cheek patches is its tail grey as if so its a grey wing and you should be able to deturmon off it if your bird in question is greywing or clear ...i say its clear ,but you know pics ....
  18. she is fantastic looking bird but still looks cockish but i guess as we always say pics are deceving she will give you some fantastic chicks one day and in answer to someones question combination pieds can have markings all over bird in unusual ways hence the word combination (mixed pied ) their is no real indication you have one but the iris rings are dead give up for a combination pied dom and for a df dom as they look so close to a rececive pied the only sure way to tell you have one(a df dominant pied) is every nest will be full of single factor dom pieds when put to a normal cock not split for anything as if a cock bird is split rec pied and hen happens to be split rec pied(but a df dominant pied visually ) you will get 100 percent pieds but in a mix of dom and one or two rec pieds ,the the eyes being the biggest indicate does this make seance as i can try word it differently if not
  19. very very slow s l o w
  20. I am thinking about breeding her this year but still trying to work out a good male for her. Would love to get some bubs with the same beautiful opaline markings that she has. if thats the case it may take longer but if you breed her to a normal cock not opaline split then all the cocks will be split opaline with her clear mantal genes then you place one these cocks with another hen with a clean mantal opaline and bam really nice clean mantaled chicks just takes a year lol or you could just put her with a really nice opaline cock with clear mantal should get one good clean one if not all out of that mateing as they will all be opaline so....does that make sence
  21. that is so pretty i have never been to the snow and its only 2 hours away it looks beautiful
  22. :emoticon112: welcome aboard
  23. no i rang today but :emoticon112: ...but mmmmmmmmmmmmm news most my eggs i fosterd are hatched and amongst them is a little split lacewing that the hen that i lost layed before she died it could be a hen i guess their for not split but regardless she left her legacy also i have two albinos and two lacewings so far one cinnamon's and a few Opaline so all fine i had one dead in shell and 7 eggs left to hatch fosters are doing great job i think theirs a few more dead in shell but really i dont know so i will leave them all till their tossed out of nest i will let you all know when i get results i promise
  24. thats really good news your going t have a very special friend their and yes be very tied 3 to four hour feeds i think glad it all turned out well
