Finnie's Breeding Journal
well dont be to suprized if number two comes next day i find with my eighteen day incubatours the chicks come one and two day after each other then three the 4th day and back to every other day from three on all birds are diffrent though i love my pet types i will never get ride of them show birds are pretty but as ren says a pretty big pain in but also lol you need percistance and time with pets its more about colour breeding and mutation s where as with the show birds you try and not mix mutations up so.... i keep pets for colour breeding and compositive breeding of mutations in the one bird and show i breed to better improve the quality and structure of one particular mutation my pets always save the show chicks though from that first night of not being feed i never came a crossed a pet type who has not fed a chick yet or who hasnt hatched all its eggs mind you i never craddled pet eggs but its a good lessen to learn and its exiting to see the little life inside the egg but i would only do it one time half way through incubation as the light can harm the new chick and cause it to become addled this is true and i dont care who does not agree with me

What Happens To Budgies In Pet Shops If They Are Not Sold?
macka when you say their culls /rubbish nothing you could breed what the *** does that mean..... no bird can be rubbish This brings to mind what other people have said about breeding to what's behind the individual bird. If your birds are any good at all, Macka, then their brothers and sisters that you don't wish to show would still have all the same good bloodline behind them. Just food for thought. this is what im meaning finne if he has high standard birds then if the right high standard cock or hen placed with mackas apparent rubbish could indeed breed the next deplorma bird or at least a nice stock hen for someone else to work their stud up with after all its about the challange macka your the one always going one about how its easy to breed bloodlines from paper work im sure you have beautiful birds or you would not be putting them in shows unlike me who is still striving to breed a few good birds for myself as so i can breed more good birds and aventually put some my own line of birds on the shelf how bad can your culls be macka ...honestly what are we talking here now you have me interested

What Happens To Budgies In Pet Shops If They Are Not Sold?
macka when you say their culls /rubbish nothing you could breed what the *** does that mean..... no bird can be rubbish just as its not as good as the others or its heads small mask short does not mean it can not be used for someone else in their stock it may have a good length or a nice posture perfect spangling ectra even if its small under sized it can be some ones treasure and your trash unless your birds are rubbish as they dont breed or pluck or are ill and your just getting rid of **** that way rather than deposing of them in another manor their are heaps of people on here that buy for pet breeding your crud could be their perfect bird for their pet breeding's im sorry but i dont understand your thinking unless the birds are unbreedable at all they are useful to someone as you say they go for 20 to 25 dollors at the show grounds so why not sell them all for that price as kaz said i have never seen you try sell birds you dont need to let people into your home mate to sell them and all birds i have ever put up here have always sold quickly try it mate ....or dont lol nothing wrong with your way you just could profit more for your efforts and put it back into you other birds i breed pet and show and i love getting the smaller more proportioned show culls for my pet line as the are just beautiful

What Happens To Budgies In Pet Shops If They Are Not Sold?
i sell about 13 to fifteen at a time macka not one or two their would be no point in that im not a large breeder though either and i do keep around 10 to 15 birds myself and it is these ones that i sell on to anyone whom may just call to get a bird and if they dont sell then the pet shop next time i move birds on our pet shop just took 60 birds from one man all violets so i guess im lucky his birds sell fast and he can exept a good amount not just one or two as for old birds he will take up to 2 years 3 year olds anything older id just give him anyway but really any birds that i dont want or cant sell i just give to my unkle who also breeds and sells birds sometimes i just give him them anyway

Black Eyes... On A Normal Green?
i have a dark eyed spangle 2 year old hen i wondered myself if she came from a pied breeding she is a light green spangle nothing more nothing less the only other thought i had was a brown wing but i dont know anything about that mutation as far as i could even tell brown wings from my faded out black looking winged birds im told theirs not much diffrents from the black to the brown wing but its the eyes you tell with but i dont know rips the one to ask about brown wings i guess as for your cock like my hen i dont know pied breed is my best guess
-
Pied? Which One?
that is so true and if we got a back shot it may even be opaline spangled which is really hard to tell unless back shot provided as the pied gene mixed with spangle can make it difficult to spot but its not hard if you are use to it i breed these all time so i know the look of the opaline mixed with the spangled pied

very very cute

i was thinking he was eatting like he had not been feed for a night i hope you are feeding him nightly not trying to tame him by with holding food as if you want to tame by holding back food you dont not feed then offer food their is a way to tame through offering less food so bird still a bit hungry but not so its starving and i dont recomend it unless your bird is very very untamable im sure he was just injoying his treat as bird love i know you dont condole bad treatment of birds but incase i thought id let you know a bird can die with one night without seed when young 2 nights with a adult bird just thought id write it for thoughs that did not know that

What Happens To Budgies In Pet Shops If They Are Not Sold?
im not the only breeder to sell to the pet shop here macka infact their is other pet shoips that by birds for few pennys more 15 for english as they call them and 10 for the pets you pay 22 up depending on colour and mutation though 22 for a green and 25 50 for blue 47 is the amount you would get a lute or a rec fellow lacewing or anything else in that area of mutations i sell to the pet shop that i know the birds leave from the quickest when i sell from home dont mind showing people my set up but i have cameras so and i dont think my birds are prize winners like some of you so as i said i mainly sell from here (this sight )and word of mouth only sometimes we have been known to arange a place closser toi the buyer for pick up as im pretty out of the way as far as birds and what happens to them in shops i will ask my pet shop what happens to his old birds and let you know

A Few Birds I Have And Ideas I Have
dave this hen is cinnamon she is a very nice deep cinnamon why i chose her to go in my lacewing breeding plan 'the cock is a lovely dark cinnamon as most of nubbly 5 cinnamon's that i have seen are dark believe me shes cinnamon dave oh and yes hes split lacewing yes macka your right its easy to breed champions on paper but my birds are not expensive birds i have just chosen on their aperiance to what i like yes some come with lovely paper work but its a after thought usually with exeption of one or two birds which i brought on the line that they came from and even then its not a well known breeder my birds are qwaint and i like it that way if im to make it to the bench it will be with my own birds a few generations down trake when i have what i am aimming to achive , achived
