  1. its hard to stick to a plan sadly im a bit lost in mine at moment and have lost sight of where im heading this is partly due to lack of ability to source and perchus a number of good hens of the typeings i need cant breed them if you dont have them my albino line is the only one i have stayed sighted on
  2. Nope , more like mineral salts and trace elements. i say that their has to be something to the chicken caucus thing as mine love it also i was told you should give the birds raw fish for the omega 3 i personally just add cod liver oil one a month into their seed raw fish bones .mmmmm by way thanks ric for the water dividing idea
  3. your birds are so lovley i especially like the little hen and your comment about the blind monkey
  4. just a quick note to all branches from young eucalyptus trees(sapplings) are very poisonis to budgies
  5. What males this one a DF dom pied ? Kaz, I was wondering the same thing, I have a sf dom pied hen that is marked very much so like that. well it looks like a df dom pie should look and giving that the parentage suggests their both dom pies then im saying this ones df dom you really dont know untill breeding though with that much going on in background so... or its just a clearflighted pie as i said id just say pretty combos as theirs to much genetic mixing of pie genetics to really know with out percific breeding to certain other pied birds as nub sugested you will never really know breed her to a normal cock not split anythig bar mabe opaline or cin and if all chicks come out dom your hens df dom yf sky blue pie if only half chicks come out dom she is sf breed cock to normal hen for same out come if hes dom half chicks will be dom if hes not chicks will be normal then go from their and disregard this clutches genetic till their old enough to breed then treat each bird like a pet shop brought bird and find out what their hiding from their thats what i would do theirs way to much going on for a true classification to take place
  6. close enough looks good
  7. thats sad mate rip coconut
  8. thanks amy for offer of would if you could at least someone would lol why dont you place a small flight incorperated into your breeding room for chicks to young adults and have it as a suspended flight half in half out i cant explain it very well sorry but im sure the idea will just put images in your head to toss around
  9. I was going to answer, but KAz beat me to it haha Yes I definitely have the wire. I just built the shade cloth into the framework of the aviary. I am planning on it and very much looking forward to it! Would love to meet you, and every other budgie nut around! Thanks so much!! I noticed when I was trying to post more pictures that they kept adding to the previous post I had done, so I waited until someone else had posted and then I added more! I do completely agree that apart from everyone enjoying photos, like we all do - it gives brilliant ideas, information and suggestions - which I totally love. There have been numerous ideas to my dream aviary which I have taken on board and my plans are beginning to look a bit different from when I started. i really love your aviary darl im looking at getting two more myself i did the build my own one thing and so far its still not finished and has cost me the price of mabe three ready built 8 by 6 feet aviary which is what i wanted to get in first place grr ,....dad is so helpful it does my head in i just wish i could get it finished lol been a year now and still heaps to do im actually thinking of selling it and just buying ready made ones like i was going to but would brake dads heart so im stuck with what i have for till i at least can buy a few more in which i wont tell my dad im going to do it would been great if i could get help to finish it off but dads getting sicker all time and i have no one else to help i did offer a few people money to help me finish but that didnt happen either , it was quiet a bit of money too but oh well . so now im just going to get one kind of like yours if i can find one

yep thats what i use i use both sizes the bigger ones also and i have my boxes inside theirs still heaps of room i have my boxes low to floor for some hens and top corner for others but never out side as im breeding out doors and am clumbsy and forget full and would lose birds dayly if on out side
  11. On the show bench yes . But paired correctly to say the first hen bird in the top picture and you can correct the flight issues , dont always take everyones opinion as gospel , Remember that all birds have faults , you must try not to pair two faults together . Nice birds. okay cool thank you thats good to know as i was told by a few people that long flighted birds just breed long flighted birds and your now and again good bird i just culled out a really good cock bird in belief of this i will no for next time dam it grr i thought it was like shark fins and how it breeds in to your birds so....let him go i have should of had my brain on as when i think about it my best pair one is long flighted the other lacking in his wings alot they have the most perfectly winged bubby s oh man i hate having memorie lose lol lol oh well ive learnt two things before i go doing anything drastic chew on it for a few weeks and two im an idiot
  12. i also got the memory of a notice in our club budgie chatter the next time i read it stating very clearly NO BIRDS IN OR BEYOND KITCHEN i took fred to feed last meeting he wasn't very welcomed by all funny how no one told me he wasnt able to be in their untill after he was feed and put back in his show cage also the drive to my sisters we stopped at a park for tea where fred sat on picnic table and ate hot chips with us he even tried the flake he sat on the dash the whole way to preston looking out enjoying the drive his bath times were also very cute she would be all freaky looking and ugly then wash blow dry and wallah one so fluffy cute chick just her running through the house into random rooms looking for me or my daughter will be missed
  13. Various ones have said they will still do them. Its a time issue thing. yes well im going to keep asking every few months lol i will get some printed out as you said and take with me my printers brok though so couldnt do last week plus their their for fun not to fill out questions
  14. any luck with getting more interviews kaz im finding no luck in any one ive approached i feel that is very sad theirs not enough hours in the day i guess to simply answer a few questions i really apreshiate the people who made time to help us out and do the question air /intervew
  15. i say dingos right bar the last chick is df dom pie why the band is on top and looks more recessive looking but really with all that going on id just put in to hard basket and call them pretty combo breed pieds
  16. good luck this time round mate
  17. i have a sun conure and their tropical no issues at winter ring necks are hardyer so i see no issues their its colder in vic
  18. thank you everyone she did learn from this also i did state to her that no more birds are to be specially treated regardless of how cute they are as its not for their best interest really we only try to support and feed these little ones but their Peronts stop feeding them for reasons its different if mum dies or something like that but when its nature taking its course its better left that way im thinking of getting my daughter a gosling to raise :rip:
  19. im glad you let us know what was wrong alot of people dont believe you need to worm your birds but it can kill them just as quickly as other things and so easy to prevent glad it was nothing worse darl mites and worms is very important to treat for thats why ivomectim is such a good investment even if thats the only thing you ever do :rip: hands up on getting her checked
  20. it was a sad morning to day and the skys opened up with agreement fred will be laying to rest my my daughters fairy garden we made it sits just next to the flight he is getting his own little cross made up for him sinead was a bit sad as she thought god was mad at her for freds ingery (as we had a massive storm lightning thunder the works ) i told here that no thats not it god was crying as he realized how much she loved fred and that he was upset he had to take him home ) my daughter is very religious and made me put her in a catholic school but thats what she wants so i support her it is hard as im not a stricken believer and i really dont know what to say to her when she talks about god but i guess her not having a father she turned to him as he is suppose to be everyone's father anyways so now she is feeling better as god cryed also :rip: i will get a picture of freds resting place once shes made his head stone and cross thank you all for your words she really was a sweet thing but she was very unwell her stomic was sort of in the wrong place and when you feed her it swelled up really deformed looking she resembled a hunch back when she was feed for till the food was gone apart from that she was healthy very skinny though all things happen for a reason we were getting very attached to her and it would have been worse if she was with us for a long time then died as i to would be crying my eyes out if that was the case i woke up today put the kettle on ....no chirping no putter of feet then i remembered she was gone i dont like to make freinds of the birds and normally would have let nature take its course something told me to keep this one going so she was here for a reason maybe just to teach my daughter her sad little lesson that sometimes you can love something so much and regardless of wanting to help it and make it fit in we are all born different and in our own time we learn things as we need and a tiny push can actually sometimes be to much ...life is something we do in our own pace not in the pace others want us to as some times someones small push can be very departmental to our own slow but sure development
  21. yes dave i will post some pics of her but right now im very sad as fred has passed she was very thin today and although doing great personality wize i was very concerned with her food storage capability she seemed to eat **** and be empty she didnt just die due to lack of nutrition but due to my daughters love you see my daughters 8 and she thought fred needed to learn to fly so after i fed him tonight as she always did she took her out side to sit with her and she would do this while she played she knew you had to be careful holding fred with her tiny ribs and all but she didnt think anything of jumping on the trampoline with her i came out side to close aviary down and almost had a fit here she was jumping on the trampoline fred clasped in her hands i told her to get off amediatly with her that she couldnt fly due to her not having feathers in her wings that she could fly one day if we take good care with some luck but no longer did i turn around and she had given her a tiny head start and slightly tossed her into the air i almost killed myself to mark her in mid flight but i was so far away poor fred landed thud bang on to a blue stone rock she seemed okay shaken but okay i was like why did you do that for and she said she just wanted him to beable to fly so she could have friends their was no point getting mad my daughter didnt understand what she had done and wanted fred to fit in with the other birds she has been crying all night one hour latter fred pooed blood a big pile not just a bit he had gotten internal injurys she started shaking and very soon after passed away my daughter is beside her self i explained to her that without her he would have died days ago that we all make mistakes about things she finnaly fell asleep with a wet pillow we are going to give fred a memorial service tomorrow some pics from yesterday im going to miss her little pitter patter every time the kettle boils
  22. long flights very undesirable in show birds
  23. i did lol um she can feed it but you know kids they want these things but ..... so im the one with the job
  24. Hi Ratsy, About the egg. I would remove it in time but, what is the usual thing with Hen's? Do they toss an egg that is d.in s. say or infertile or do they just sit? I haven't thought about this before Ratsy but someone will know and they could tell the rest of us so we'll all know. i leave till the last chick is two weeks if hen has not tossed it i toss it
