Yes please do post a larger photo, I zoomed in on it and though it is very blurry it could be a female. But need a closer picture to be at all certain whatsoever.

Albino Female..
Okey dokey. So pretty sure she's a yf Albino then..well, I'll get back to you guys in a few months after I've gotten her a mate and bred her, and we'll see what the babies are!
-
Albino Female..
There may be..I just went out and checked..when you look straight on at her wings you can't see much, just very slight grey that may or may not be there...but from a different angle she actually does! I hadn't looked for markings on her wings before..

What Color Does It Look Like The Oldest Baby Is Going To Be?
That one looks like a hen to me, also. Though wait for Kaz to reply, I'm still learning about sexing them that young.

Albino Female..
Yes it was the only site that had birds that even remotly matched her. No other birds I could find that had red eyes, white bodies and grey markings on them..They were: (this is how the breeder of them described them on his site) Fallow : Single factor Goldeface, Double factor Spangle, Opaline Double factor Goldenface, at least one Dark gene and one Violet gene, Opaline Fallow

Albino Female..
Yes, positive. They are very definite actual markings, though as you may have noticed they don't show up too well in a picture.

Albino Female..
Cinnamon suffusion? I guess yeah that could be a reason, though her markings aren't brown at all, but grey.. Uh yeah that is kind of strange JB..unless no one else can see what I'm talking about either, then it must be because I know what to look for I suppose..Either way, I edited the picture (see the arrow showing what I'm meaning, also I darkened it) so maybe you's will notice it now?

Albino Female..
By markings I mean the grey stripes on her face in the picture I posted. She can't be a lacewing, can she, as her cheek patch is white, not any other colour?

Albino Female..
Is it possible she is an Albino with markings (because she is masking 1 or more mutations under the albino)? I've been searching the net for any other birds that look like her, and found these three: Would it be possible that she is one of those? Or more likely to just be an Albino masking something? The reason I think there is a chance she might be one of those is that they too look like Albinos, but have markings on their faces and wings... If nobody knows the answer to that question, then I have another. How would I test breed her to see what she is? Mate her to a normal and then one of her babies back to her, for example.. Mattdog, you should move up to Qld...all the petshops near me have over 70% of their budgies are Lutinos, Albinos, and YF Albinos (most of the others are pied and yellowfaces)!

Albino Female..
Anyone?

Sexes Please
I know the second is 100% a female, but I'm just not sure about the first one. One of my birds, before he began his first moult, had a cere like that..it was his cere turning from pink to blue..I don't see any white like a female of that age should have? It looks more like a males cere turning blue, to me..? See, this is a male and a female, both at the same age (the male has more blue than your first picture though, so if yours is a male, it is younger still) I'm not at all certain though.

Albino Female..
I finally got my new camera, so here is a picture that shows her markings. When I was looking at her recently, I noticed there are the spots on her face, markings on her head, neck, and even on her wings. I haven't seen any cinnamon on her at all though, even the markings are grey. You can see those markings (even the cheek spots) on this photo, though they are much fainter than in real life. So, why does she have this?!

One Male With Two Females..
Anyone have any answers?
-
My First Breeding Attempt
The male obviously isn't Recessive pied, he has iris rings. I think what he meant was that the male was split for rec. pied (seeing as the female is Recessive pied), thus making the chick a recessive pied?

One Male With Two Females..
I'm just wondering..I've heard of people who breed show budgies, who get, say, 3 hens and one male. And breed them together by putting the male in one cage for a day, then the next cage for another day, then the next, etc. I'm wondering: How well that would work with pet type budgies? Why/why not to do it with pet types? What schedule to do, ie, how many hours/days with each hen for it to work? When to remove the male and put him with one female permenantly? (ie, when all eggs are laid, when the first hatches, what?) I'm not necessarily going to do it, I just never have so I want to learn about it. I know they do it to get more chicks by the male..but what about in my situation, where there are two girls who want to breed and only two mature males..one of whom is related to the first and the second doesn't like him, so there's only the second male. Would that be a good reason to do it? Anyway, I'd appreciate answers to all my many questions lol. Thanks.

What Might This Give Me?
Okay assuming it is a Sky Blue Opaline Greywing Spangle boy to a Yellowface Cobalt Opaline hen.. Half Cobalts and half Sky Blues 100% Opalines 50% Yellowfaces (Spangles and Normals) 50% Spangles (yellowfaces and Normals) So you'd get: (with all females being Greywing too) Normal Opaline Spangles Yellowface Opaline Spangles Yellowface Opalines Normal Opalines Not sure about the Greywing, is it sex-linked? If so then all females will be greywings, and males split for it. If it's recessive then you'll have all babies split for it. If it's just a Cobalt Opaline Greywing, you will get: All Cobalts 50% Yellowfaces 100% Opalines All males split for Greywing and all females being Greywing.

A Rescue Of Five Budgies
Where can I get that?
-
A Rescue Of Five Budgies
Okay cool. Does anyone know how much I should spray them and for how long..ie, every day for a week, or something? It doesn't give any directions except to 'repeat as necessary' and I can't tell any difference in their feathers until they moult..
-
A Rescue Of Five Budgies
Well I bought it from the vet, it's called 'Avitrol Bird mite and lice spray'.
-
A Rescue Of Five Budgies
The one with scaly face has greatly improved. Yesterday was his 5th treatment of 6, so he is almost done. I think all feather mites are gone. By the way, how many times etc should I spray them for feather mites for them all to be gone, and for how long?

Normal Pair?
Depending on..if the hen is split for blue, and what colour she is masking.. You will get all greens, assuming she is not split. All males will be split for Lutino, and all chicks split for blue. If she is split for blue, you will get blues and greens, with the greens being split for blue. Males will be split for Lutino.

Is She Goldenface?
Cool, I would like to understand that eventually..At the moment I just call them yf1 or yf2, though they probably are Goldenfaces and composites etc. Makes it simpler, though doesn't really help with knowing what chicks they will have if bred..
-
Cinnamon
Well, they only had 4 chicks altogether. (the dad died a little while ago actually..) All seem to be Violet Mauves, 3 were Cinnamon and another was just Violet Mauve. Storm was paired to a normal Cobalt a long while ago, and had 2 Violet Cobalts. If you set up the same sort of pair though, couldn't you prove/disprove that Violet is a seperate gene or not? Are you able to answer my other question? Is it that one is Violet and one not (though their colour does look the same at the moment, but they haven't even moulted for the first time yet) or what, to have that difference in shade?
-
Is She Goldenface?
So then, basically, there is no definite way to tell what mutation they are until you breed them, because it varies so much, correct? Though with yellowface, the yellow is a cream colour and goldenface it is very bright..though that too can change if they are yellowface and goldenface both, and with the single factor and double factor of those... Yikes. I agree with you JB, the more I hear about it the more confusing it gets..
