  1. Okay then. This picture shows the mum's colour: (she is a Clearflight Pied Spangle) And the father: (a Mauve Normal split for Cinnamon and Rec. Pied) Does this help?
  2. Okay, I sort of kinda understand that. I wouldn't be suprised to find out the mother is actually Cobalt (and that's why all 4 babies she has had with this male have been Mauves, or appeared to be) as I am always being told by different peole she is Cobalt, then someone else says she is Sky blue. She is Storm, in my signature, if that helps. So, what colour are they? And while I am on this topic, see the first picture of Ari, and her wings? Why is it like that between her wings, do you know?
  3. If they can't be Mauve what are they? And why can't they be Mauve, their sister from another clutch (Kyra, in my signature) is a Mauve Violet isn't she? All the babies of that clutch were Mauves, or at least I thought they were.. Also, what do you mean 'The Violet must be on the no factor dark factor'?
  4. They actually are Mauves, though one may be Violet. The parents were a Skyblue Violet and a Mauve Normal split for Cinnamon. Their cheek patches aren't grey or blue, they are almost exactly this colour (the body colour of the bird, who is the lighter coloured Cinnamon in those earlier pics) This is only the lighter coloured bird though, as I do not have the darker one at the moment. (though I will see her in a week)
  5. Sorry to bring this up yet again, but I have another question about Yellowface/Goldenface.... "If Australia has no yf2..then a bright yellow faced bird with yellow all through the wings markings, head, and body (making it a sea green colour) is what exactly? A single factor gf? So, let me see if I got this right. We (australia) have no yf2. So we only have yf1 (double factor, causing a white face bird, and single factor, which is a cream faced bird with little to no yellow in the body) and gf (double factor, which is as the picture above, and single factor, which is like a yf2, a sea green coloured bird as all the yellow goes throughout the entire body)??" This is correct, according to the genetic experts here. Now, this bird: Was said to be a DF Goldenface. I am not certain but a DF Goldenface when mated to a Normal will have all SF Goldenfaces right? Well, she had a clutch (only one baby survived unfortunately) and the baby was not a single factor Goldenface..it wasn't GF at all. How does this work? She does not fit the description of YF1, single factor or double factor..nor does she match the description of SF GF. But that is the only thing I can think she would be, as her face is definetly a bright yellow and could not be described at cream-coloured at all..and apparently the amount of yellow is different between birds, and she had only a few feathers that were green, so is it possible she is a SF Goldenface with very little yellow? If not, what is she? Sorry again for bringing the Yellowface/Goldenface up again, but that mutation in particular confuses me lol.. Thanks for any help.
  6. I have two Cinnamon budgies (my first Cinnamons I've ever owned) so I was wondering whether the difference between them is normal? Is the shade of Cinnamon that different between birds? I don't know mch about Cinnamons as I have never had reason to research them, so I need some help here. See the difference in the colour of their wings? Thanks in advance. By the way, these are not recent photos, but the colour is the same.
  7. The boy was definetly a Lutino, he had red eyes. I have one more picture of them that shows his eyes, and though the flash was used they are very red. I don't think the girl would have been a Cobalt Violet though, her colour is not at all like my Cobalt Violet, even with the flash..she just looks Mauve to me, her colour was so much darker than my current Cobalt Violet's.
  8. I have a few questions..Are these birds a female Mauve Opaline and a Lutino (or Creamino?) male? Sorry about the quality of the pictures, they will have to do..they are the only pictures I have of the first two budgies I ever owned quite a few years ago, so I'm really curious to see what mutations they really were. I'm pretty sure of my guesses but you guys might notice something I haven't. And yes, that is how I kept them...in a round cage, with rust, some wild bird's nest I found (I think I thought bird's nest=budgies) etc. It was many years ago and I wa very young and knew nothing about budgies...when I look at those pictures I'm suprised they survived (they actually escaped after I'd had them a few years) but they were loved, I thought I was doing the best for them.. Anyway, if someone can verify their colours that would be good. Thanks.

Well he hasn't moulted yet, that's why he looks like a yf1. But his mother was a yf2, so I'm assuming that is what he is, as his father wasn't yellowface at all. Oh, also. Is he actually Grey or is he a Mauve? Because his cheek patches seem to be blue, not grey..but he is a strange colour for a Mauve..Anyway, if someone can give me some help on that, that would be great.
  10. He's a Cobalt Yellowface type 2 Spangle. And very cute by the way.

Thanks. And yes, he is in quarantine.

Looky what I got! Lol I just got a new baby budgie! He's 43 days old today, and a lovely male Yf2 Grey Normal. I bought him from a local breeder, (first time I've ever done that instead of the petshop and I was very happy with the breeder..probably do that again instead of a petshop next time!) so I know his exact birthday and got to see his parents. A Cobalt YF2 female and a Mauve-Grey-Violet sort of coloured Normal male. Here's a picture of the little boy, settling in well. My guess was right, a male yf2 grey normal? \ Any name suggestions would be great..he's Mr. No name at the moment!
  13. Does anybody have any idea why she has these markings? She is definetly Albino, isn't she, seeing as she has a white cheek patch? Why then does she have markings everywhere? I can't get them with my camera but they are definetly there, no doubt about that..any ideas what it is? I've got her in a breeding cage at the moment (she is a friend's bird but breeding at my place) so maybe her babies will answer the question...
  14. Oh..anyone have picture examples of this? I also want to know if my Spangle is an opaline as well...she is a girl so I'll have to wait until her son has babies before I'd know for sure, and she is Pied so the barring between her wings mostly isn't there anyway..but if someone can tell me if she is Opaline or not that would be great..
  15. Here are some pictures of her. I had to take them with my old camera which really does not do good detail whatsoever..so I doubt you can really see it. But look closely..I can see her cheek spots in the pictures, and a little of the markings on her neck. (here's hoping you can as well!) I'm going to get some better pictures when I can, don't know how soon that will be yet. And yes, I know her eyes look black in those pictures, trust me, they are not..they are very much red. Bright red.
  16. How can you tell if a Spangle is also an Opaline? I've seen heaps of photos of Spangles with a lot of colour through their wings, and yet some are not Opalines..(or at least so they've said) So what exactly are the differences between a Spangle with a lot of colour and an Opaline Spangle? Thanks..
  17. Babies have fledged! They are now 41, 39, 37 and 37 days old. Here are some pictures of Ari and Kato in the aviary for the first time: (Neriah and Rune have already gone together to another home) Kato is the second highest, Kyra is on the top of that stick, and Ari is lower down. My cockatiel, Sol, is there too.
  18. Finally got some pictures of her, though I can't post them at the moment. But, she does have a white cheek patch. And the markings around her face and on her neck are obvious (I just saw her in person yesterday) and when I looked closely I could even see light grey cheek spots! What exactly does tha mean? Is it because she is a yellowface that her markings are all showing through?
  19. Mauve Violet Cinnamon (both of them): Mauve Violet Cinnamon Spangle:
  20. It's ivermectin and I have to put one drop in their beak once a week for 6 weeks, for scaly face. That is exactly what the vet told me.
  21. So how do you put the ivermectin on the bird? Some on the back of their neck or in their beak? I was told it worms them as well so I will do my other birds with it soon too.
  22. Here are some of today's pictures of all four babies.(who are now 28, 26, 24 and 24 days old) Rune, a Clearflight Pied Cobalt DF Violet, 24 days old: Ari, the Cinnamon Mauve, probably Violet too: Kato, the one best picture I could get of her, as she is a Cinnamon Spangle and maybe Pied too, so she mostly ended up looking like a white blob! And Neriah, the Cinnamon Mauve as well, 28 days old now:
  23. He didn't realize he needed to clean the aviary and everything as well, and not just the birds. So that's why they kept on getting it. Hopefully that will be changed now. I was thinking, seeing as both the birds are in the same cage, treating them for both scaly face and feather mites, though the sky blue doesn't look like he has scaly face..but the yellowface has both. Would that work, or should I wait until the sky blue shows signs of scaly face (which he probably will, even just because he is in the same cage as the yellowface..he has been in the same aviary so he'll have it soon won't he, even if he doesn't now?) before I treat him as well? Then if the yellowface has none before the sky blue does and then they'll both catch it again from eachother, wouldn't they? I hope that made sense lol.
