  1. Is it to late to feed them now KAZ? 8 pm here.
  2. okay Thankyou KAZ.I was going to see if yoghurt was okay so I didnt have to drive to the petshop for handrearing mix. I cannot use *libby*'s formula because I dont have a pestle and morter or calcivet. Hi. I fed them at 1 pm this afternoon and now they're crops are empty. When should I feed them next? Tonight or tomorow morning?
  3. Thankyou all. I have read that mango flavoured yoghurt is okay for feeding young day old babies who are not fed because are to weak to cry or food. Can I do this? I have also read that budgies are lactose intolerant so... Can I feed one budgie this? Thankyou.
  4. Yes thanks very much KAZ and Jimmybanks. Hopefully the eldest gets all his feathers back aswell.
  5. Hi all The two youngest french moult babies now have flight feathers and can fly now. The eldest is developing his feathers slowly.
  6. one of my pairs took 4 weeks to breed, so dont give up hope yet.
  7. Hi all I checked the budgie and he seems the same temperature as the others. His chest is always going in and out really fast, He could have a heart problem? Do you think that french moult can be caused by the way the parents raise their young? Because thunder would chuck the shavings out as soon as I put them in their so the babies got dirty really quick and the nest box stunk like anything. I put shavings in their twice a day only to find a big hill of shavings at the bottom of the cage. And also neon and thunder would mate in the nest box while chicks were in their...
  8. okay In the morning I will check. It just looks like he is gasping for air 24/7. But their are no signs of respitory problems.
  9. Hi all I have noticed that the french moult budgie with no chest feathers has been opening his beak alot. He sits on the perch constantly opening and closing his beak. It looks like he is gasping for air but he is breathing fine and their is no respitory noises. Any ideas on what is causing this? thankyou
  10. HI all 2 babies have hatched from summer and chompers nest box, all eggs look fertile to me. 6 cockatiel babies have hatched from beauty and beasts breeding cage,
  11. Is their any expectation table for colours of birds? Eg skyblue paired with olive green.
  12. okay Thankyou KAZ I will see how it is tomorow. 4 baby cockatiels have hatched now and beauty did not feed the youngest. I fed him this morning and now beauty has finally fed this afternoon.
  13. okay Thanks very much KAZ. At the moment I have 4 females on eggs in cages out the back under the patio. I'm not sure if I should move them into the breeding room until they are finished because they could get stressed? The cages are steel and light in weight so I wouldnt break any eggs or anything but if they are moved into the breeding room they will be in new surroundings. Any advice on this? Its not like they have to be moved tomorow or anything they can stay out the back until they are finished. This is the last round of breeding for the budgies anyway because it is getting very hot where I live, What months do people start breeding again next year? Or do they breed the budgies through summer?
  14. Does it work well KAZ? Have you had any problems with it? Mine is covered by tin.
  15. Hi all The breeding shed will be finished by tomorow. It's not the best but it is good. I cemented the base and dug a trench around the outer edge of the shed and cemented 2 feet deep. The wire also goes 2 feet deep. They will get plenty of breeze and lighting but are also shielded from the rain and rats. I put 15 cm thick polystyrene sheets above the avairy to provide basic insolation. I will build the safety door tomorow and fit the wire on the windows and it will be finished. I will take pictures tomorow. Can anyone think of anything I've missed?
  16. okay KAZ I will.
  17. Hi all Budgies going well. I have managed to get a hold of some tin offcuts so I will be making a small avairy in my spare time. It will roughly be 3 metres wide by 7 foot high by 3 metres front to back. It will be for the baby birds and cockatiels.
  18. Oh wow this thread is heaps old. I didn't even realise, sorry.
  19. okay i'm wrong again sorry.
  20. Yes you could use that. Thats how I make most of my breeding cages. I buy old cabinets and make them myself, its cheaper in the end. Good luck
  21. How old is it and what mutation is it? Looks like a baby female cere to me or an adult male. But Im probably wrong.
  22. okay thankyou all.
  23. okay Thankyou Maesie I will remove them now. I left them in their because I have read that the mother will eat them for calcium.
