 ... Typos I think! Or else Matt is just in another dimension ... I think he means: It's a whole different world when you're on that stuff- just a rough translation. It's a natural sedative to treat insomnia I think maybe Matt must be on it at the moment sending him off to la la land Is that right Matt? i think hes trying to politly say were lost it lol HAHAHAHA GB has quite the way of making the most from her typos, doesn't she?!
  3. I'm so sorry to hear that! What's going on? Is an illness going through your flock?
  4. I have discovered that there is a disadvantage to catching Lou Lou for her drops - Doug at first glance looks just the same! Just as well Lou Lou is a squawker other I'd be catching the wrong bird all the time!

Yes!!! I once tried "natural" henna and it went Pea Green so I then I had to turn around and dye all my hair back its natural color Another time I asked for my eye brows to be darkened at a hair salon and they dyed them GreyGreen ... I never went back there! Have you ever tried waxing your lip only to rip half of it off?

nope, have you ever slept a fullday? Yes, when I was younger and I'd been out partying all night! Have you ever been to Loch Ness in Scotland? (we didn't see the monster either! )

I have noticed that many Budgie Owners/Breeders also tend to have lots of other Pets as well. We are no different! It all started with the Goldfish, first I had a couple, then I got a "big" tank and got some more! Along the way we had the misfortune to buy some "infected" fish and and after a visit to the vet and getting one dissected at The Dept of Fisheries we got them all treated and never looked back! YES, believe it or not you need to quarantine you 'new' fishies too! Alas, one of them has cancer - would you believe it! It is my big Oranda and although when the Vet visited in the New Year he said he could operate I am afraid that I draw the line at $xxx operation for a Goldfish. So in the meantime we are making his last days with us as comfortable as possible. Then I was "given" a pet budgie by a client who was moving overseas ... I bought an aviary, then a friend for him, then a couple of "girlfriends for them and along the way heard about the MBC - I figured I better find out as much as I could about looking after my budgies and joined Mid-2006! The rest they say, is History! When Tony and I got married my Aunt very kindly gave us some "wedding money" to spend on a gift. Most people would have bought a fridge or something along those lines but we already had a fridge and I was wanting Tony to get more involved in looking after our pets, so we got a Marine Tank! Alas it only survived 2 summers .... What they don't tell you at the Aquarium is that due to the high summer temperatures if you want to keep reef fish you do need an internal refrigeration system and you need to have a specific type of tank to begin with so it can be fitted ... At the beginning Tony really wasn't keen on the budgies and complained bitterly that they bit him - on purpose! So with the budgies now in a much bigger aviary I got some pretty canaries for him ~ They do Not bite! And finally the latest additions to our menagerie : Tom and Tim! Tony had kept guinea pigs as a child and when his brother's one died from old age he asked if he could have their cage and excitedly went down to City Farmers and got 2 "pygmy" guinea pigs. And last, but certainly Not least is Batman, my Cat who I don't really consider as a pet - more a member of the family!
  10. It's gone now but I will boil up some water and give her eye a good flush tonight as you've recommended.
  11. It is the inner eye lid that swells up and partially covers the eye (which is fine) and on the cere side towards the bottom I saw a tiny white dot, like a stye on a human eye.
  12. She ISN"T a Feather Duster and grows into her feathers!
  13. The curious thing about Lou Lou's eye is that amongst the redness there was a little white spot. No photo's I'm afraid, I didn't fancy my chances of getting a good close up and besides after some Ionic Silver drops it disappeared. I did notice that last week too. Would anyone like to speculate?
  14. I have come to the conclusion that little Lou Lou is high maintenance. Her outraged squawkings are inhibiting Luvie's bonding with Rose, so something needed to be done. I have found another carer for her, a Gary Armstrong DF Spangle forthwith known as Doug. He is another sure fire cock bird and quite the gentleman with the ladies, if I ever have any concerns about a maiden hen I put him in with her and he trains them up perfectly. Here is Lou Lou and Doug: (moments after being put together you can see he is hanging off the wire - he knows she's "trouble"! ) (a little bit later, I can tell she quite likes him - she has gone all quiet and dopey!) Of course, the main priority is to get Lou Lou out of Luvie's eye sight so he can get on with seducing Rose .... So I have stacked the cages with Lou Lou and Doug at the bottom: Now I will wait and see how things develop.
  15. In an interesting twist I had to pull Lou Lou from the aviary last night and bring her indoors to a holding cage. Her right eye has swelled right back up to where it was last week. All within a space of 36 hours. I am thinking she may have an allergy? In any case she is back on the Ionic Silver drops till recovery and then I will pop her in amongst the Young Uns, she is only a Red Runger after all. Of course the ungrateful hussy is livid to see that Luvie has a new girlfriend and is making her feelings known with even more noisy squawks! And she is refusing to eat again. For his part Luvie looks rather bashful while Rose is non-plussed!!!
  16. why do you say this is not avisable ren if you have two very well marked good sized birds with good carictoristics and you pair them up and get df doms mabe they not showable but when put with a normal all chicks will be dom so this getting you ahead in your dom pied breeding most times the markings come out perfict as they carry the perfict marked gene Agree with GB. Not everyone breeds for show and you must remember that when advising about breeding. No, no, no, no, no! I didn't mean it like that! By all means, pair 2 Dommies together and produce DF Dommies - the only problem is that they do not look like Dommies and so can be very confusing for the uninitiated.
  17. Very interesting that you mention that! I have heard that in a couple of aviaries over here the preponderance for floor dwellers, like you say, the birds would rather live like a quail. Also that directional feather actually impairs proper vision and birds are said to fly into things all the time. I can only speculate, but IF I were a budgie and had a ton of feathers blocking my sight, I don't think I'd risk flying around too much 'cause I wouldn't want to continuously bump into things! But, I wonder how their bodies are developing if they can't get good exercise to strengthen those muscles?
  18. Yes, I'd say Patrick is a Green series Clearflighted Dommie Pied, in the blue series the clear flights are completely white okay, so we've been discussing what type of Pied Patrick is. And we figured that if he is a combo, then he won't have any normal gene to give to his offspring. Well, here is some evidence: So, the big question is, what do we think Patrick is now? Oh I see now I was under the impression that the "clean" wings indicated Clearflighted Pied, over here we don't have a Class for them so they get lumped in with the Dominant Pieds which is why I called him a Clearflighted Dominant Pied!!!! Most would just say he was a Dommie Pied. He is NOT a combo. He is SF Dommie Pied. IF you pair up 2 Dommie Pieds you can breed a DF Dommie Pied, but they are long tubular birds with Recessive Pied-like markings. Not advisable.
