    That is really great!
  2. WHY I LOVE MOM Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, 'I'm tired, and it's getting late I think I'll go to bed' She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse. Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails. Dad called out, 'I thought you were going to bed.' 'I'm on my way,' she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV's, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals. About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. 'I'm going to bed' And he did...without another thought. Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer..? CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL..... (and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)

Not the pest pictures but it's so hard to get a good one he is so little and wriggly. My youngest Penelope had to see what all the fuss was about. If you look really close she is holding him. I am so proud she was really good and sat real still while my hubby and I helped.

He's doing really well. Feeding about every 1.5 to 2 hours still. The kids are smitten with him. It is a lot of extra work especially when your run off your feet with a 20month old 4 year old and 11 year old.. But it is so worth it. Now whenever my hubby or kids hear a chirp it's "mum, the baby wants you" just an instant part of the family. So were praying he keeps going strong!!

I have that one- and it is really good- but I think the info that I get from here is better. There is not alot about budgies in the book, and I just like to check everything on here. To make sure I'm doing it right. I have also got a few books on Busgies stored in my Google Library- Does anyone have any names fo good ones as there are so many there, I just chose a few that look good and it's great to be able to look them up whenever I need to- but still can't beat The Budgie Breeders Club...

The dish is out at the moment. I did have it in a larger cardboard box during the night last night. Should I shave a small dish of water close by in the box or in the bowl with him?

I have a great guy who sells heaps of different sized aviary mesh I realise you are too far away but you may be able to find someone there that does the same. I found him in the local paper and he is pretty cheap too. It would be the best way to go if you really like the cage.

I do not have a thermomoter with it, Should I? What temp should it be constantly. I check it regularly. I have a heat lamp setup-which I use for my ringnecks too and I talk to my local vet nurse- she works with Bob Donnerly (who I think is the best Avian Vet in Toowoomba!!) But she works heaps and I try not to bother them too much. I had just fed when I took the picture, but I'll try not to feed as much, the crop is emptying in about 1.5 hours to 2 hours. Is there anything else I should know about the feeding? I really appreciate all the help and information I can get. I have handraised birds before, IRN's and 2 Budgies but never from so young- and Ringneck chicks are a lot bigger.

The Aviary is 3m / 3m square and there are 12 Birds in there 6 hend and 6 cocks. There are 10 nest boxes. There is one young hen who sits in the a different nest box alot but just hasn't bred- she is 14 months old. She was the one that attacked the chicks to take over the box- I don't know why. But she is now in the box. I would really like to set up a breeding room- But we have had so much trouble with my husband being sick and my father too that we just cannot afford it. So the aviary is the only option for me at the moment. Do I have too many birds in there?

I really didn't want to hand rear this baby. But It just got too cold outside and still had not been fed and still moved when I touched it but had stopped chirping for food. It has improved incredibly since bringing it in and warning it up. I was just so lucky I was there at the right time to save her. I am relly sad about her two older siblings that were dead, and the 3 eggs had been pecked and one I could see the formed chick inside but it was dead too. I am stressed and freaked out about rearing the chick whick I have called lucky and I am so determined to keep her alive... I know there is a chance she will not make it, but I have to try. My daughter (4years old) made a fairy wish with the glitter she has been keeping from the fairy shop here( they say that if you make a wish with it the fairys will grant your wish), she asked for lucky to be okay... Just like getting up to a new born baby- well I've done that before so I can do it again for our new baby.. Photo's to come will put them onto the computer tonight... Thankyou all for your help and support!

My hen's clutch3 babys and 3eggs were attacked by another hen this morning and all died except one. I have put them in a seperate cage and the mother is now refusing to feed the baby. It is really cold and I have brought it inside under a heat lamp. I am planning on returning it to it;s parents tomorrow morning as she will not sit on it. Just wanted to check that sounded alright. I have given it a hand feed with Roudibush formula 3. Seems to be doing well. I have handfed babys before but never one this young. She is normaly a really good mother and none of the other hens are sitting on eggs or chicks so I have no one to foster too as she is who I usually foster the babys too...

I set out last sunday and decided that I would build a new play gym for my birds fo our childrens toy room. I already have a shop bought one my hubby gave me last year. This is the one my hubby bought- with a few modifications,. And this is the one I built. With all different sized and types of wood, it is pretty thin but a meter long. With food and water, and we have some toys but are still working on more. The girls are helping me with that... There's also a poster my two girls made with pictures and photo's stuck onto it for a background. Which I don't think will last long, either the Budgies or my hubbys Ringneck will get to it. So now they have a few little sanctuarys around the place to play. Also my daughter (4 years old) and I have converted part of one of her barbie castles on her shelf into a little play stand for her budgie Jade for when she's in her room. Suprisingly for a 4 year old she is very responsible with her little bird. First thing she does every morning is get up and go and get Jade. No hello mummy just look mum I have Jade. Which I have to admit is very cute... Thanks for listening to me ramble on... The play gym was pretty easy to make I was suprised it only took me two half days of working on it while playing with the kids outside. Even my Hubby is proud and he laughted when I told him what I was going to do!!

A house full- well I'm getting there.. I have had people asking me for babys- and tomorrow I have decided it's time for the first to go to her new home.. I couldn't let her go until i was sure she was ready. I'm happy and sad at the same time!!
  21. okay, so my first baby goes to her new home tomorrow- Minty. She is going to be living with my husbands friend and his fiance. They are really nice. I have come up with a name for myself and my 2 daughters- Angel Princess Baby Birds.. Which I have used as the headding for an information sheet I have compiled to give away with the babys. I am feeling pretty good about it now, as I know i can visit any time. And he is very excited about having Minty there. Angel Princess Baby Birds - Angel is for Allysa and Princess is for Penelope my 2 daughters. Minty is on the left

Hello... :nest: Nice to meet you. I'm Rachel, I also have 2 children Allysa (4) and Penelope (2in September). I live in Australia.
  25. There has to be somewhere that should be handling horrible stores like this. They should not be allowed to do this to people. This makes me really sad.
