Updated Pics Of The Chicks I Want To Take On Thursday
Yeah I've never been game to try it, someone gave it to me a while back I figure it's probably got antiseptic roperties so I'll save it for if one of the birds has a minor cut or something or I'll use it on the dogs...

Sorry I was being cryptic without meaning too, she has been spending a lot of time preening because I have been spraying her

Bush Budgies
Unfortunately when Europeans landed in Aus and saw fertile arable land a plenty it didn't occur to them that we would have all these critters that like to eat crops, ain't too many wild parrots running around the UK. Then someone thought it would be smart to introduce bunnies who also destroy crops. Add to that roos and drought and farmers are up sh*t creek. So now there is a constant battle between farmers and conservationists over the fate of these animals, it's a really tough call.

Updated Pics Of The Chicks I Want To Take On Thursday
It wasn't soft food she just decided to dunk her head in her water bowl and then face plant into the seed on the bottom of the sho cage Her tail is shortish and that's been my main concern with whether she'll be ready enough for this week, I'll just have to see how much it grows in the next few days. The cinny has been spending a lot of time preening over the past couple of days. Unfortunately had she hatched a week earlier she would have been good, I think she's only really borderline at the moment but that's life...

Budgie With Red Feathers
My kelpie is 'red and tan' but red actually means a reddy shade of brown, could it have been a very reddish cinnamon...
-
Mite Treatment
I do not use Ivermec internally, I use it externally only, but the same could be said about any worming treatment. I only treat my birds with Ivermectin about twice a year and more if I need (on an individual bird basis). I also supply lemon scented tea tree

Budgie With Red Feathers
Did he have photos? Personally if I had bred a bird with red feathers I'd be snapping away with the camera going through roll after roll of film
-
Mite Treatment
The treatment from the pet shop will have to be applied more than once too, that is the reason I recommend Ivermec it's a once only treatment. If you call a local bird club they may be able to sell you some or tell you where to get it

New Tropical Fish Tank
I have a found a bloke who'll sell me five albino bristlenose for $25, a good price and they should look pretty cool swimming around in the tank

Our First Cockatiel Baby
I wouldn't use cotton wool personally, I prefer rolled oats. It would be good if you have a thermometer to check the temp under the light.
-
Our First Cockatiel Baby
Yep, including fingers, noses...anything it can get it's beak into really

Our First Cockatiel Baby
My little yellow crest bred one will swallow the tube, whereas others you just about have to force them

Show Or Pet?
:hap: So gotta do that with a wild type budgie AV
-
Our First Cockatiel Baby
Really Liv? I have found it extremely difficult to spoon feed, I much prefer to crop feed. I find they end up coughing and spluttering a lot more when fed off a spoon
-
Our First Cockatiel Baby
The main thing is to hold the tubing in your right hand and angle it to your left, then once you have it in gently feel the crop and you should be able to feel it, as long as you can feel the tubing it's gone down the right hole, if you aren't sure or you can't feel the tubing maybe take it out and try again.
-
Mite Treatment
It will treat them but generally slowly and requiring lots of repeat treatment.
-
Regurgitating But Nothing Coming Out
Your new bird needs to be atleast five metres away for a minimum of one month.

I've Made A Start!
Gorgeous!! (Both of them)

Our First Cockatiel Baby
I don't use a needle I use rubber tubing (it's actually bicycle valve tubing) on a plastic syringe. If you need any help on how to use the tubing let me know I have to go out for an hour or so but read this thread about my experience using tubing: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....922&hl=crop

I actually think the cinnamon will be a better bird in the long run, her sister is nearly a week older and that does make a big difference. The cinnamon still has the odd bit of down fluff under her wings
-
Bush Budgies
Not necessarily if wild type budgies were put on licence then that problem could be solved or even a system whereby all wild type budgies would have to be rung as babies, there would be a period of a few years where not all would be until the older ones died off leaving only the rung youngsters but you could do it .

Is She Opaline?
Because of her colouring if I take a photo further back you can hardly see anything at all she just turns into a yellow blob on the camera
-
Is She Opaline?
She is spangle but the markings are kind of weird and thick and sometimes instead of a spangle she has a feather that is half clear half cinnamon I was more thinking because she seems to lack markings in her V area
