  1. I would say that it is designed to be removed once the seed is consumed so the stick part may not be safe for them to chew on, especially if they are breaking pieces off, I wouldn't use it.
  2. I agree, looks like a he to me too Welcome
  3. Awwww, he'll be over the moon Personally not my cup of tea but they do have lovely personalities and I'm sure he and your son will be firm friends (although I must admit they are very cute as puppies )
  4. That was me Celery leaves are the miracle veg for getting budgies to try vegetables Just not too much as you don't want him getting the runs
  5. 47: When you spent more money on your birds this christmas than you did on your partner (that's me )
  6. It's not a vacation JB it's a 'romantic rendevous'
  7. Ya know what I mean though, a bit like the space shuttle or chrysler version of the nest box
  8. What can't you figure out? Personally I think they are very 'American looking' (no offence to our american friends youknow we love you )
  9. IT is possible that the ino was born a day early or the other one a day late and thatmight account for the size difference, it just depends how long t takes themto get out of the egg, etc and we all know how much they can grow even in just a day!
  10. okay, I'm bored so I decided to google myself As well as a reference to myself I also found 8 other people with the same name as me all working in the environmental field in different areas of the world!!! Maybe it's something to do with the name...de.ne.ne de.ne.ne
  11. If he is grey green you will get some or all(depending if he is split blue) grey greens in the clutch, if he is YF2 grey you will only get greys and YF2 greys.
  12. No diference It will be a good test mating for you. If he is a YF2 you should end up with grey and YF2 greys out of the clutch and no grey greens
  13. No one of the parents wouldn't like him. If they are grey green then the YF2 wouldn't be seen as it would just blend in with the green colouring If this theory is correct he isn't a grey green he's a grey.
  14. I thought grey was an adding factor as opposed to a blue series colour.... Yikes, I'mlost I have a number of birds that have very similiar colouring which are YF2 greys
  15. Maybe she has a seed caught in her wind pipe or an infection, either way she should see a vet
  16. I don't suppose one of the parents is a YF2 grey green and both parents are split blue, that would result in some chicks which were grey and some carrying YF@ which would account for that look
  17. I saved the best for your girls
  18. Well both of those two are actually on quarantine at themoment anyway as they are new to my aviary (my chrissy raffle birds) so it'smainly Lip and Len we'd have to worry about
  19. Cool, now we just have to workout how to organise it all Also can anyone who's joint bred share how they would quarantine in this case. Obviously Lip and Len come from a fairly isolated environment without contact with other budgies so would I still need to quarantine or maybe I could just do a short quarantine...
  20. I have the greys brother down to breed at the moment with a great hen so maybe we should go outside that family link and pick this normal for the spangle... Maybe this guy with your lacewing...trust me he's more impressive in real life and by far the best of the opalines Also I know this picture makes himlook dark but he's actually cinnamon so a much better option for you if you were keeping thos chicks for future lacewing breeding, all cocks would be cinnamon and split for ino and all hens would be cinnamon, so next season you would put one of the cocks to a ino or lacewing hen and you should get lacewing chicks
  21. By HERE do you mean WA or Aus in general?
  22. 22. When your mum asks you what you want for christmas and your response is "I'd really like some more bird toys" *Who me, I wouldn't ask for something like that would I???
  23. 20. When people walk through your messy house only to look at your aviary and say "My, how do you keep it so clean and tidy?" (you spend more time cleaning the birds than cleaning where you live )
  24. 17. When for your wedding other BBC members give you budgies for a wedding gift
  25. It depends how bad they are Jenene, it would take a fair while for them to grow back. They would potentially be able to eat on their own if was a soft food though, have you got an updated photos? In the first ones it looked as thought there was a scab on the tip of the beaks which would tend to indicate an injury, the should recover from an injury but it might take a while.
