  1. That's a great price for an Eccy! I have been wanting to get a pair but can't afford to so if you did it and the bird had issues I'd be happy to pay you the transport costs and he could com and live in an aviary here. Then I would only have to find a hen.
  2. King parrots are MUCH cheaper than Eccys. There was a bloke selling hand raised babies here for $180 recently. That was a pretty good price though. I would say around $250 or less
  3. No worries, I am pretty busy over the weekend but I can work someting out. What hours is he open?
  4. I have three or four here that I can give to you when I see you
  5. If you want you can have a piece of my flexible stainless steel mesh for the door, it has holes about 5 or 6 mm across and would be very easy to fit even to a metal door as it is flexible and very fine so it could be fitted using that standard little piping stuff they put around flywire. I have had a piece of it on Suzie's (corella) cage ever since I got it to test whether she could chew through and she hasn't even been able to bend it.
  6. We use that expression here too Also my mum (who's not even 50 yet) if she does something stoopid or forgets someting says she was having an "older persons moment"
  7. I am sure you have that the wrong way round the males are green and the females are red in the eccy's Yes I do have it the wrong way around If you got a male King he would be bright red
  8. The desk is in the garage waiting for you if you still want it Does the wire go close to the ground on the door? Don't forget mice will get through standard mesh so if you want it to be mouse proof so you can leave the main door open on mild nights, etc you'll need something finer or a metal area on the lower part of the door to stop them.
  9. If you are gettin a cock it will basically mean if you get an eccy it will be red, if you get a king it will be green. Wow, I'm honored
  10. Are you sure that youngest the grey isn't opaline?
  11. They are both experts at the puppy dog eyes!
  12. They are both little monkeys!!!!
  13. Also check out King Parrots, very similiar to eccys
  14. Trust me, you'll want another one But I know what you mean. We love our big birds, when we get our new house they will have their own room. An African Grey is one of those birds you need to be around alot for. I'm not prepared to get one until I am home most of the time. If my ringnecks ever get off their butts and breed you could have a ringneck baby and when the galahs are set up in their new aviary we hope to have some galah babies too.
  15. Yeah I knew what youwere getting at. But I have two kids so I can ignore anything
  16. Whatever you get just remember that it will need LOTS of training. The bigger birds are much smarter than budgies and need lots of training, especially through their 'teenage' stage to stop them going of the rails.
  17. He's here about every three weeks so he's not gone for long. We were actually living about 350km from each other when our relationship started, now it's more like 1000km. That was eight years and two kids ago so it works fine for us
  18. My main issue is bee stings. The last time I got stung I was in my bedroom folding washing. The little bugger was mixed in with the clean washing.
  19. We stay put too, I moved away from him to go to uni! He has been in the navy for six years so far and has always lived in Nowra. I actually think it works well, it's like having three children when he's home
  20. Yeah he was cranky that night. Something to do with me going out in the dark and whisking him off his perch when he was sleeping. I won't be doing that again
  21. My OH has given up. He didn't even bat an eyelid when he found me setting up an aviary in our garage the other day He just got this little resigned smile on his face and he asked me if I needed any help
  22. Just so you know Coco the galah has setled down after me tormenting him by pulling him out of the aviary at night and is being a much nicer boy now You can always borrow him before you get a large bird to see if you are ready
  23. Nope I'm staying put. He is in the Navy and is going on a ship for six months. The cruise leaves from Perth so he has to go there for one year.
  24. Put some sturdy twigs in the bottom of the cage for her to climb over as she walks around.
  25. If they candle as fertile I would foster them across very soon after they hatch so that the younger eggs stay clean.
