  1. Legally they must be fully fledged(able to fly) and feeding by themselves. In the case of flightless birds they must be atleast four weeks of age. DSE guidelines for licensed wildlife. I believe unlicensed birds can be sold at any age for handrearing however this pet shop is arguably being negligent by selling unweaned birds to inexperienced people.
  2. 1, 2, 3 and 1, 2, 3. We'll have you waltzing in no time
  3. No, I bought him as a tufted. I want to put him with a really big hen as he is very tiny.
  4. Aright well I'll do a switch and pick out a different mate for that one. Limitted in my choices for that one though so I might have to wait a bit.
  5. That's what I thought too, a friend close to her own age would be nice so they can grow up together.
  6. I gave them both a bikini wax so fingers crossed Elly :rip: Is it just me or do the show types always look angry Although he did show alot of interest in the hen in the next cage so I think I might have to move them into a different breeding cage with less distractions
  7. So you think male then? Sigh, I was hoping I had been wring and it was a hen, I wanted to put it with the big grey guy. Ah well, I'll have to have a think about a nice hen for it then. The pieds paired up in the aviaryand he wasn't my choice for her but they looked so cute together
  8. First is this a hen or a cock. The cere was bright blue but has developed a brown tinge now I call him/her Mo, can you guess why New pairs: Oops whered they come from :rip:
  9. Maybe to tell the difference between similiar looking birds. We used to do that with a non-toxic marker to tell the difference between yellow day old chicks.
  10. Is the plan for her to go in with them eventually or will they aways be seperate? If they are to be kept seperate it might be an idea to consider giving her a friend of her own.
  11. Debis she in with another bird? Elly is right and it can lead to major dramas. There was a discussion about this a while ago with regard to handrearing versus parent care/handling. I have found with the handraised ones they can suffer alot of seperation anxiety if they are very stronglybonded to a human. It might be worth considering a budgie friend for her soon so she doesn't go troppo when you aren't home.
  12. What is the colour on Pinkas' head?
  13. Kangaroos can't walk backwards
  14. When you click on the link go to the address and delete the two http's off the start and then hit enter, it will come up Cute Cam but the dog doesn't lokk 100% impressed, infact looks like he's trying to have a sleep and he's a bit annoyed that the bird is bothering him, personally not a risk I would take.
  15. She might just need to adjust, much like a human baby that is given solids for the first time
  16. His mum is violet and his dad is cobalt. HIs brother was exactly the same but violet like his mum He WASN"T a reject I just decided not to offer him to anyone else
  17. Well I might just do her again in a couple of weeks to be sure. It will be a big fat pain in the butt to catch them all and do it so I think I will probably just water worm the aviary birds and ivermec them as they go into breeding cages or when I have to catch them for some reason.
  18. That still doesn't really explain why the colour is blotchy though. Good info though, thanks.
  19. Awwww look at my cute widdle runty buddy Buddy is a dead ringer for his mum, he is a spangle. I have 6 more eggs in the nest now and they should all look like he does.
  20. Whatever you call it the grey really is grey and his blue is really blue like SW said. The grey is the same shade as the grey on his tail and the blue is a very definate light cobalt colour. I'll take photos soon once the kids are asleep.
  21. What is the normal frequency for ivermec? This is the first time I've used it. Also, exactly what does it treat, do I still need to worm them seperately?
  22. It'll be good to get some lighting in there as it is quite dark, but that's a job for another weekend, I have to work tomorrow.
  23. I have birds in my indoor flight!!!!! okay so one of them isn't finished yet and I am still organising the shambles but the big aviary is done and the budgies and tiels have moved in. I have the bits to finish the shed and I have made the front wire screen I just have to finsih putting it together and then the ringnecks will be going in there (hopefully to make babies Photos: Photos taken at night sorry, that dark patch nis the 'shed' with the front where the garage door is. Tim and Tam waiting patiently for the work to finish and then this corner will be organised for the breeding cages.
  24. I figured I didn't have to worry about any of the other birds catching it since they are all getting the ivermectin at the same time. Good to know that one should do the job, I'll catch her in a week or two and check how she's going :hap:
  25. I am moving all my birds into their new aviary as we speak. Good chance to give them all a check over and a spot on with Ivermec. I found one girl with a clear scaly mite growth on the sides of her beak. I've given her the spot on, will she need daily treatment with something or will that take care of it? I don't mind catching her to give her another spot on sooner than the rest but if I will have to catch her daily I might try and find another cage to put her in, bit short of those at the moment though with the construction of the new room and birsd being moved around.
