An Important Petition
I love cats too, and my cat is strictly indoors as well (I get annoyed when my dad says "cats should be let outside"). Actually, my dad went to a biology conference the other week and he meet someone there who thinks people should be allowed to keep native animals as pets: why should we be keeping non-native animals are pets? We have stacks of native animals in Australia that may make good pets. Like budgies! I'm so proud of them... I don't consider the budgies that we keep these days as being native. Sure they originated from them but through years and years of inbreeding they are no longer anything like the native budgerigar.

Rats Again
He is crippled but alive Liv My concern is others maybe under there. I am about to catch ALL aviary birds and rehouse them elsewhere for the time being ( I have two empty metal aviaries I can use ) Then I will start to dig up the tunnels under the storage room where they seem to be, and let the dogs try and catch them. Getting closer to elimination now Kaz.

Then perhaps you would have to say the same thing about every type of cow, sheep, goat, horse etc etc etc etc. All brought about by humans interfering with nature. Even our own beloved little budgie. Look at the original bird and what you see at shows. Humans interfering with nature to produce something different. Who has the right to say if it should exist or not. Thats life ..........................

An Important Petition
I see this as no different to those folk in Australia who imported budgies from the UK back in the 80's. Even then there was an outcry from certain quarters that it was the wrong thing to do. As a result of that we now have some beautiful big show birds.

An Important Petition
A bit of off topic but perhaps relevant. As you all can see in my signature I am very big into camp oven cooking. With that also goes native food cooking. Every year in Alice Springs is a major Native Food Cooking Event. For the past few years, feral cat has had a category of it's own. People actually eat and enjoy them.

New Cages
Looks good. There is a breeder down in Dubbo uses them for breeding cages. The nest box sits over one of the doors.

For Throwback - Feeding Regime
I have been impressed by your responses to what I see as sensible management of your birds. I was wondering if you would post your feeding regime. Things such as: 1. Seed types/combinations 2. Breeding season 3. Non-breeding Season 4. In the breeding cage Thanks. Moderator’s Message edited for typos in topic title
