My New And First Aviary For 20 Years
Put the word out saying I was looking for a couple of sheets of formply for the floor of my aviary. Got a call before saying that I had two and the cost was a big fat ZERO. Happy with that because the aviary wan't exceptionally cheap. All is going to plan. I will be ready for :budgiedance: next week at this rate.

My New And First Aviary For 20 Years
Just got a phone call to say I can pick it up this Thursday. Not sure on fitting a second door until I get it. The reason for the timber floor is that I am only renting and putting a cement floor down is a no no. Not only that a mate is getting it for me for nothing.

My New And First Aviary For 20 Years
A visit today to the Australian Budgerigar Society Show in Brisbane and meeting our member Daz convinced me that I needed to start immediately on building an aviary and to start breeding some budgies so I ordered an Absco 1520 X 2260 X 1800 high pale eucalypt colorbond aviary. Expected delivery within a week or so. This is the model I plan to set it on a timber base not to far from the back of the house. Stay tuned for upodates. Derek

Is There A Breeding Season?
Thats very interesting and I know from my previous breeding that the little sods will breed anytime. In saying that though, all that I have read about the wild budgerigar is that they do definitely have a breeding season. Interesting stuff all the same.

Nesting Boxes
When I was previously breeding I never used to put anything in my nesting boxes but I notice a few photos around where it seems wood shavings have been used. Is it necessary to put anything in and if so, what do you use. Thanks Derek

Thought This Would Be Interested
How: I found BBC a couple of days ago on a Google Search for budgie breeders Why: I want to get back into budgie breeding again after being out of it for around 20 years Now: I have found the site a mine of information. In particular I have increased my knowledge of what constitutes a good aviary/breeding room Who do I have now: No birds at present however working on arranging a small new aviary to start off with.

My Latest News:
Next time I have a blood test I will ask to confirm if that's what I had, but there's nothing they can do for it, just rest, a little excise & good food. I hate getting blood tests, but I'm sure it wont be long before they want to take some, they do it all the time these days…yes frustrating & a bugger not being able to do all you want…but seem to be starting to feel better. Hi Norm Been there done that back in the 70's. I was one of the first people diagnosed in the Caboolture area. Back to the topic. How would you describe a typical dusk? Thanks Derek

Hi Daz Did you ever consider a clear polycarbonate sheet above the flights to let in more natural light or do you think that may have increased the temperature inside more. Thanks Derek

New To Forum
Hi folks. Name is Derek and have just moved back to Queensland from Wagga Wagga, NSW. At the present time I do not have any budgerigars but am consiering getting back into breeding them. Back in the 80's I had aviaries with in excess of 100 birds and was a member of the Australian Budgerigar Society. As soon as I get settled I will be looking at getting an aviary. A search on Google sent me to this site. Look forward to getting to know you all. Derek

Book Review
Hi everyone. My first post on here. I was about to ask the question "What is the best book for a beginner" and I come across this thread so thank you. I already have John Scobles book and it pretty well does cover everything. If you are looking for second hand books I highly recommend http://www.abebooks.com/ Cheers Derek
