  1. I have been searching the web and looking at different European breeders birds tonight and couldn't get over the differences between their birds and our birds. Sure I haven't seen any High End Australian Bred birds but I'm yet to see a picture of an Australian bred bird that looks like them. Do you think that we will ever 'catch up' to the Europeans in size? Do you like the look of the European birds? Personally I would like to have birds the same size but I do not like the feather of most of the top European breeders. The Birds seem to have great faces and masks but the feathers on the body and wings tend to look poor more often than not (in my humble opinion).
  2. I think I might go to bunnings and go for a bit of a shop... I've got some spare cage fronts... a brand new cage for a brand new bird...
  3. so how long have the eggs been in the nest for now?
  4. :mallet:
  5. Well the wife would REALLY not be happy with a bird in the house but I could have it in the garage, nothing in there at the moment except some furniture... there are no car exhaust fumes and the like so that might be the best idea... I was just wondering about getting enough daylight and stuff. Thanks KAZ :mallet:
  6. Well as you all know I recently picked up X from MB's place. Now the whole time he was there he was inside and now he is fixing to become an outside bird so... my questions are these: Would it be wise to put him outside during the day and at night put him in the Garage away from the cold air and gradually increase the amount of time he stays outside? Will a blanket be warm enough to put over during a Melbourne winter? Is there anything I can do to make the transition easier on the bird? Am I being an old softie who needs to toughen up and let the bird just get on with getting over being an outside bird?
  7. will do
  8. I put some corn in there the day I got him and he wasn't interested in it... this is going to sound dumb, but is it okay to give vegies when a bird is in quarantine?
  9. Well he attacked them like he hadn't been fed since I got him (and I know he had because I'd seen him). I think I will add it in a couple of times a week.
  10. Yes... non bird people always seem to think of us bird fanatics as a little odd
  11. I go away for a 40 minute lunch break and the whole world gets on and starts posting
  12. not in those amounts, but the same percentages except with out the niger (my stock feed place didn't have it). I put in a couple of pinches of oats just for something different. I wouldn't add the pinches of oats every day but I figured I had them there so why not add it...
  13. thanks for kepping me on my toes... I check and theres nothing, I come back with a cup a soup and there's your message! I'm currently thinking of different camera angles I can try taking of X. And poor Len is going thru a moult at the moment and isn't in the best of moods... might take some photo's of him tonight too...
  14. How many times do you log into this side a day? I'm in the office a fair bit lately so I find myself on here ALL THE TIME. I find myself refreshing the page every 10 minutes to see if anyone has responded... I guess that means I don't have enough work ahh well.
  15. I'm looking forward to this topic taking off  I love nothing more than watching political discussions unfold... I guess its my introvert personality that does that...
  16. I'm sure you will see a photo of him at the 6 month stage
  17. JimmyBanks replied to Daz's topic in Cage Discussion
Daz, I lokoed on your site but didn't see any, do you have a cage design for a hospital cage?
  18. just thought I'd show off my little guy some more
  19. haha very cute
  20. not bad. I got stimulated last week... all on the credit card... I wonder would it be better to just not tax us as much instead of taking it away and then giving it back to us?
  21. nice looking birds as always pearce Keep it up.
  22. I don't mind them being called bush budgies, its a marketing term that lets people know that this is what a budgie looks like when you see them out bush. I do have a problem with people selling budgies as bush budgies when they are blue... (and I have seen that advertised)
  23. I just looked again and noticed that the yellow around the face looks darker than the yellow of the body so I'm going to switch to YF albino too
  24. wow that's great I agree with the others in regard to quarantine. will you put them with your own birds after quarantine?
