Sorry I didn't welcome you sooner, been a bit busy last few days. Hope your enjoying the forums.
  11. I do find it interesting that more information comes out about budgies from overseas,or so it seems, when budgies are native to Australia. Bit of a shame really.
  12. Congratulations!
  13. Very cute pictures there... can't wait to see how the babies turn out.
  14. Thanks neat... That is exactly what I was thinking about looking up today... Trying to figure out what my first two should be and what I can expect to get out of them when I start breeding them... A while away but none the less important.
  15. Sorry never heard about it... but I'm not experienced enough... can't wait to hear the answers...
  16. Interesting information there daz. thanks.
  17. Congrats on the :budgiedance: did I miss a post? Why did you need to foster an egg out?
  18. You would think that the parents would care if they knew that the birds health was at risk... I'm sure you've probably already tried explaining that to them though... Sorry I don't really have any advice when talking to family on these issues... It's never nice to have family disputes.
  19. thats hillarious Una. Congrats on the aviary Derek. I'd agree with Kaz you probably should see if you are able to get a safety door attatched... Good luck with the project and keep us posted
  20. Budgies taste great. the word Budgerigar is an aboriginal word meaning 'good food.' Oh you mean can they taste... dunno...
  21. Welcome aboard! Glad you have come to be apart of our wonderful online budgie forum. Everyone here is a wealth of information... except maybe me... I just tow along. I'm not a breeder, thus I don't have any help... but KAz and others are a wealth of information. I sap them of it every chance I get.
  22. Welcome to the forum. I would have to agree with maesie, if your bird is sick the last thing you want to do is add another budgie... If its bored then that would work but sick... why make another budgie sick?? That said, once you find out the problem and Declan gets better... Feel free to buy another one as a playmate... just make sure you quarantine the new bird before adding him/her to Declan's cage.
  23. What does Kazumi mean? Cool name.
  24. Welcome, welcome, welcome. Budgies are the best arn't they. Hope you find the forum fun, we have a great time here. Here's my opinion on your situation... The only problem/issue that you have with buying 1 budgie now and another later on is that you will have to quarantine them... so you would need to cages... if you buy 2 young ones from the same breeder you will be able to house them in the same cage from day one... the downside to that is that it is, in some peoples opinions, harder to tame them like that... weigh up the pro's and con's of each and then come to a conclusion that best suits your situation... As for wether you by a girl or boy or both... I find most people on here believe that they will not breed unless they find a site that is sutable for a nest but there are some others that believe some budgies will breed no matter what situation they are in... I'm not that experienced so I can't really say I have an opinion either way.
