  1. LOL, Kaz ... that second picture is a riot. I love em when they are all spikey'd. Too cute !
  2. It's not another budgie. It's a wild bird of some sort. I like that my birds call to it. They call to robins & cardinals & blue jays ... anything that chirps is interesting to them. If it was another budgie .. I'd be out there with millet hanging all over me saying COME & GET ME ! so I can get you !
  3. Beautiful car Kaz ... & so are you. ( oooh beware nicknack is kissin up the BRASS of the BBC ) I want to see the rest of the article !
  4. I've been buying Sugar Cane Strips. They come in a package of about 12 & you keep them in the refridgerator after opening the package. They are 10 inches long & about a quarter of an inch wide. I give one to the birds to destroy once a week. I've learned that you can freeze these strips & keep them for a long time safely in the freezer. The birds rip these apart as I clamp them on the tree branches. I've also been clamping other things on the branches too to give them a variety to taste. Apples or carrot strips, green beans or sweet peas in the pod. Just clamp them on the branch & it introduces variety's to chew. I've seen some choking & vomiting a few times from one bird who was extremely into chewing the apple tree branches. To make sure that doesn't happen again, I offered more to chew & find they leave the tree bark alone now.
  5. The last few days there has been an odd bird a few houses away up the street who likes to give of a sharp semi loud "PEEP or CHIRP." The windows in my house are closed & I can still hear this bird mildly thru the window. But the Saucy Face ( my hen) goes nuts when she hears it. She starts calling this bird & will not stop calling to this unknown bird until she hears no reply. It's like they are calling each other .. it goes on & on back & forth. I noticed both my birds doing this last year & again this same calling game this year. It's like the hen is saying to the strange bird .... " OVER HERE ... COME & RESCUE US ! " The bird never comes closer & I wonder if it can hear these 2 calling it from inside the den. I think that budgies must have really amazing hearing. Has anyone else anything like this or a similar experience ?

Oh gees Birdluv ... that's horrid. Sorry to see that .... I hate to tell you it was a lovely 21`C here today ... sun sun sun & more sun ! I hope that snow isn't coming my way. I planted seedlings today. If I can keep the squirrels away they might have a chance. But I can't stop the snow !
  7. PIE ! THE PIE ! Where have you been ? I missed you so ! Oh ... Winter. Yes deb, even over here in Canada I noticed in late October & going into November, (our winter) ... that my birds were less active. They seemed more quiet & not interested much in playing & they had a light molt also. I would put on more lights in the den during the day to give the impression that there was sunlight in the room. But they knew the difference & settled into the season being laid back & boring & lazy. Interesting to watch that ! Now that Spring is on ... I have 2 bird maniacs to deal with. Bright & early chirping & playing & another dang molt too ! Do you get snow where you are ? or just cold & rain ?
  8. Congratulations Zebra, you have a beautiful boy there. Best of the future to you all !
  9. Ya Kaz ... I agree with Elly. Us guys & gals over on this side of the pond want to get a chance to see your article too ! POST POST POST ! PULEASE ....

Take note Elly ... these dogs are wearing HOODIES ... Cabella was wearing a dress ! An ugly dress. HOODIE does not equal ugly dress. Melb .. your pup & old dog are sweeties. I like the look of kelpies.
  11. The Weebil preens my nails & picks off any dead skin around them ... I will never need to go to a manicurist to get this done. As my Budgie does it for me ! It's funny how he use to bite me ... way back when. Now he is just curious about my fingers & nails & is very gentle.
  12. Can you tell already from this age what sex it will be ? How do you know Kaz ? The cere ? Or does it have a manly deep throated "CHEEP" ?

I LOVE CABELA ... without his little dress. No wonder he has issues. Your dogs look like they are enjoying Spring Elly. FINALLY ! Sunshine & warmth. "SIGH !"

LOL ... cute messy Baby you got there Misty. Love the pics. Thanks for sharing with us.
  15. What kind of vacuum or system do you use Daz ? Is it a something for using outside or for industrial use or in a garage ? Or a ordinary house & home vacuum ? I wonder what type of vacuum is the best for an Aviary ... what would put up with the feathers ? I have have a good vacuum (Hoover) & its got 2 filters. It's horrible to clean the filters & after a week of steady vacuuming the birds feathers I notice the thing gets less suction as I use it during molting season. Why aren't my birds BALD after they shed these copious amounts of feathers ? It's amazing.
  16. That's a shame Kaz ... such high hopes for such a lovely pair of birds. At least we know George is a stud like he looks. He ain't "shootin blanks". Maybe Almira will catch on. Fingers & eyes crossed.
  17. " The Boy With a Boid on His Noggin " ... New Book coming soon to a book store near you ! Excellent pics. Your son is so laid back with the birds & they look great visiting with him. I Love your yellow face. Nice looking bird there deb !
  18. Not a problem ! When ever it happens, take a picture. I didn't know I wanted to see this ... so asking 3 months ago wouldn't have made much sense. Besides ... was I a member 3 months ago ? I am just really curious now ... I can't imagine the mess you must see !
  19. Mel ... YOU SCORED ! Way to go. Now you have to post zillions of pics & tell us all the cool things you notice with these birds. I am looking forward to it !
  20. That's okay ... it doesn't have to be right away. I know birds molt all different times all over the world. If its next month or next year ... I will keep bugging you all until someone posts a picture. No big hurry !
  21. Oh ... didn't anyone tell you ? You are suppose to supply the cake ! All NEW members have to bake a lovely LARGE cake & send it to me. And I will share it equally with all the members. Someone didn't tell you ... I guess. Doesn't mean you get off your duty to the BBC. Since its still kind of warm weather everywhere ... a lovely large Ice Cream Cake will do nicely. Thanks !

Low fat ? So it falls into that same category as emu & ostridge ? Just what we need to know over here. Before you know it there will be Low Fat Roo Farms cropping up all over the place here in Canada & the USA. Roo kebabs ... Roo currys ... Roo fried rice ... Roo BBQ ... Roo Pot Pie ... Roo Hot Dogs. Oh man ... I could go on & on ... But I won't. I HAVE QUIT THE DONUTS NORM ....... maybe.
  23. Excellent site Neat .. thanks for the link. Now I must make something.
  24. Will you take a picture of your aviary floor & walls & whatever attracts the most feathers ? When your birds are all in a molt of course. I want to see what the aviary looks like when multiple birds are molting. I've never seen a molt on more then 2 birds at most, so its hard to have a real idea of what you all deal with on a larger scale. Please & thanks to any Aviary owners who post pics. Nick
  25. Nice birds there. I have no idea what they are. EXCEPT PRETTY Darn cute ! How long have you had them ? They look young to me. But then I know nothing ... I am here for cake.
