Somwhere in this forum is or was a member who was the MARTHA STEWART of bird making toys. I wish I knew or remembered where I saw her post or even her name. She made everything from things she bought at the dollar stores. She had tons of pictures. SOMEONE HERE MUST REMEMBER HER .... DONTCHA ? She dyed or colored wooden blocks balls & toy things with Koolaid as it colors & it scented the wood & then rinsed it well a day later in vinegar wash. It looked great. She hung small paper cups that you use for making muffins on a long string. She poked a string thru the cups & tied a knot under each cup & put little food treats in the cups & her birds would chew the paper & rip it up as they ate their treats. OH MAN ... its making my brain ache. I have to search for her post now. I will be back. More ideas to come.

NICE CAGE ! Nice bird the wee Latte is too. I'm sure she will be great company for Scooter & you will have a great time having these birds as inside pets.

These are really beautiful Libby ... you work well with all mediums. Keep at it. Someday we will all be saying ... YES LIBBY use to post some of her earlier work on our Forum. She is so talented ! Now we have to mortgage our houses or sell a kidney to buy a piece of her work !

Sometimes they are so ungraceful ... (Laughing out loud). I love watching them think out a plan of where they might go next. They look up ... look over. Look back ... REPEAT OFTEN ... take tenative step ... Attempt. FAIL. Fall against or over or on something. Look stooopid. Look around & see if anyone saw that ... preen where they bumped whatever & make it look like it was all planned ! Who says budgies ain't got no PRIDE !

Good advice there Chryso ... yes showing your bird you are the dominant budgie is the key ... but when they are chewing & swinging on your flesh its hard to push back on its beak & keep a safe grip on the little mangler. But as I said ... I like your idea & hope it works for Juleslo. And Juleslou ... don't give up. Don't think that this is just a budgie that is a BITER. There is no such thing. THEY ALL BITE. That's because they are afraid & they can't reach up & punch you in the nose. Budgies got no punch packed into them little wings. Biting can be stopped. It takes time & patience ! Speaking of patients too ... like in a doctors office. Make sure you wash your hands well after you've had a bout of the chew cycle with your bird. Some aloe vera cream can help some of the sore spots your NIBBLET has given you.

This is not my pet bird ... But I would love to own it. It might keep the destructive squirrels away from my house. I don't have any idea what kind of boid it is, just that its the " UGLY BOID ! "

Don't let Nibbler get to your fingers. Offer him the FLAT of your hand. Just hold your fingers together & give him the " TALK TO THE HAND " & he won't be able to chew on you. Fingers dangling around are the perfect chew toy. Remember not to rear back when & if he bites. Don't say OUCH. Pretend it doesn't hurt. HE WILL STOP. If he sees your unaffected by it he will stop. My one bird I nicknamed " MANGLER " doesn't bite at all now. (of course ... I had to remove his beak) Now he's called GUMMY ! JOKE JOKE ! :devil:

Glad to hear that your little " Blue Bird of Biteyness " has flown into your heart & made you love her. I don't see any problem with hubby building you an aviary. Just cook him up some super meals ... light the candles ... pour some wine & NAG HIM RELENTLESSLY. He will gladly build & do anything you ask. As long as you keep quiet ! It's how the girlfriend has me wrapped around her little finger.

SMARTY PANTS ... there was no sugar on my lips. Just budgie smooochins ! As for the g/f ... she doesn't understand my passions for the BUDGIES ... she thinks they are poopin, shedding, dusty, noisy, time consuming, biting, money sucking financial dwindling annoyances. But she says this with LOVE ! That's why I sleep on the Sofa. It's good we don't have a cat. Or dog. Or moose or a pet anything that eats more then a human. Her tenderness & caring makes me love my girlfriend SO MUCH !!!!!!!!
