No worries. It sounds like they are doing a good job
  2. I used coloured metal split rings. The only reason I ring them is for my identification purposes. My first clutch had green rings, second had red rings, and my last 'the Opaline's' had varying colours and on different legs so I could tell them apart.
  3. :fear too funny... So you have a Lady Cockspiog jumping across your breast!!! lol
  4. On the eve of this unique challange, I'd like to take the moral high ground here and wish Neat all the best for the all nighter. It should be a blast and I'm really looking forward to what the night will hold.
  5. Awsome... I have two. An Echidna 'walking' across my lower back. This was done awhile ago and has had a trail of ants and some rocks added since. I also have a frog on my right shoulder. With both of mine, I went into a RECOMMENDED TATTOO STUDIO and spoke to them. My 'guy' sat down with me, I told him what I was thinking and he gave me a time and a day to come back. I did that and he had drawn up several ideas for me. I asked for some changes and he did them. I checked it again, and gave them the nod. Then I booked in and had it done. If you do it that way you will be 100% happy with what you are going to get BEFORE you get it, and you'll also get to know the person who is going to do your tattoo. Also, print a whole lot of photos or pictures of things/budgies you like and taken them in.... AND if you don't like the business or the design, go somewhere else! :fear Good luck and please keep us updated!
  6. She will give you lots of kisses but you have to watch her, she likes to regurgitate her seed onto you. :fear I look forward to it! lol
  7. Excellent Deb! I can't wait to meet her :fear

No and no... some bubs do some don't.
  9. Everyone is very talented... in their own unique way. Kaz... the rocking horse is looking great! I'm sure she's going to love it :fear
  10. My tips are as follows: Remember to have charged batteries in your camera Remember to have a memory card in your camera AND remember to take the lens cap off!!! Sorry... seriously though... natural light helps better colour show up, a steady hand or tripod and take heaps of shots... sometimes you can't tell how good or bad they are until you get a good look at them on the computer, so take as many as possible and you're bound to get some good ones!
  11. Biggest hugs luv... I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your birds get looked after and you manage to get through the next week okay. Although you are being the strong one, remember to look after yourself... I'll be thinking of you and your family during this times and keeping you in my prayers. maesie xo
  12. News just in... They were all ready to Euthanise him tonight but when they went to do it, they couldn't find him... So I think they are going to do it tomorrow.
  13. Go you good thing!!! Congratulations!
  14. I have the same issue with Gucci and Dolce. They are about 8 weeks old and seem skinny. Gypsy, who is living in the outside aviary feel 'fatter'. I'm trying hulled oats and sunflower seeds, also with not much luck. They seem happy and healthy so I am too... but will be watchful!
  15. Firstly, Budgies don't need shell grit, so I wouldn't worry about giving them that. I also agree with Kaz about them trying new food when they have bubs. My budgies are not keen on veggies etc, despite their daily servings. With my last clutch, I put in a mix of mashed boiled egg, carrot, corn, greens etc... Usually this would get left untouched. BUT, with Mum in the nest box on eggs, the father ate so much of it I couldn't believe it. He is also NOT tame, but would greet me at the door and eat off the dish as I was putting it in. Once Mum had bubs which were bigger, she'd leave the nest box to feed and she too scoffed the soft food. Keep at it and try sprinkling his seed on the soft food/veggies you are serving. Maybe also try serving it in a bowl/dish that is/looks the same as his seed dish. I know my birds sometimes freak out when they are not sure about different things.

Good luck... I'm also a worry wort and very impatient. Just remember, even if you're pretty sure the eggs aren't good (unless they are very obviously clear) I'd leave them until well after the hatch date for the last egg. I had a few eggs in my last clutch which I were unsure about, and one turned out to be very much alive... I believe it's better to be safe than sorry :hap:
  17. I have mixed feelings/emotions/opinions on this. All I will say here is Rest In Peace Big guy! :angel1: Colin...
  18. Great post idea Kaz... (Don't forget your talents too!!!) I love seeing everyone's artistic talents. I posted this awhile ago now, but thought I'd add it here again. Unlike some members on here, I can't draw very well and painting pictures isn't really my thing, but I do like to make Teddy Bear and soft toys (esp. for my niece and nephew). I also enjoy building things, like my aviary, furnature and alike. For my nephews christening, I built him a toy box. (don't have any photos but you can take my word for it, it was fab). So, when my niece (who is also my God daughter) was christened, I built her a Doll's house. Here are some pics of it: The outside of Lucy's Doll's house (if you look really close you can see the fine details in the corners. This was done with a wood burning tool. The inside... Starting from the top... the parents room. Lounge room... with timber roof! lol The kids room Kitchen/Dining Kitchen (notice the frying pan on the stove re. budgie omlette thread ) Dining (notice puppy in the corner) Bathroom. I did buy lino to use on the floor, but decided to lay individual glass tiles and then grout them... Brilliant thinking :hap: lol, but it does look good. Garage, with work bench, washing machine, dog bed and CAR! My niece is now 14 months old and loves playing with it. Her and her brother loves to move around the furnature, take the family for drives in the car, and make a great mess. It's awsome to see their faces when they're playing...

Go fish (it's dark and 10.50pm) Are you wearing socks now?
  20. BUGGER!!! We'll take the nest out tomorrow then. Sorry to burst your bubble :hap: . I totally agree with Liv though. You've asked many questions and have been willing to listen to every ones thoughts, ideas and advice. Angel is going to have a very long and happy life and because of the way she will be treated and looked after by you, you will reap the rewards... I look forward to sharing in the journey. I forgot to say I have the same cage as you have just bought. I have two bubs which I bred in there, Gucci and Dolce, and they love it. They have lots of toys, a swing, natural perches and fresh leaves when I can get them... An awsome buy!
  21. It's 18ish days from when then hen sits tight on the eggs, which is not always from the laying of the first one. The nesting material, which lots of people use untreated wood shavings, is to absorb the chicks poo. It's amazing how much the chicks poo, and by having something in there to soak it up, makes cleaning a breeze. Take the chick out and put them in a dish/container. Remove wood shavings, replace with fresh ones and then replace chicks.
  22. Angel will be quite at home in that cage, but... she doesn't need a nesting house. The problem with them is that the hens (females) can see them as a place to nest and lay eggs. And although she is young and hasn't got a male in with her, it won't stop her. Also, if females lay eaggs when their bodies aren't ready, this can lead to more problems... :hap:
  23. oh my dearest Neat... Haven't you heard of that saying, that ugly babies ALWAYS grow up into beautiful, sexy and HOT adults... You on the other hand, were an adorable baby, but things went south as you got older... A real pity I think... WARNING... Picture is a link as I didn't want to scare the children on here with her photo! http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u230/sa.../Stuff/d086.jpg
