Pot Plants For Birds
okay... so I went to Bunnings and spent 3 hours there... I LOVE BUNNINGS!!!!! I bought some weed and feed, lawn repair (to fix my weedy, overgrown, compacted and dead back lawn), a small hose, a funky wall tile, some black pots for my new indoor plants: Peperomia SILVER HEART. I also have some hanging pots from home, which I'll plant my new: Lemon Thyme, Parsley, Corriander and Oregano. These will be hung from my 'broken' outside blind bracket. It's nice and sunny and they'll be easy to look after. Then, I already have a selection of cacti and succulents which I have in terricotta pots. I may leave them or shift them somewhere else?!?! Now... I have a carport opposite where my front door is (photos later when it stops raining). I have a few options which I'm trying to decide between. I want to put a big heavy pot at each corner and fill with one of the following: Native plants- Callistemon/Grevillea or something similar Climbing plant to go up and over the carport. I'm thinking again something colorful and possible fragrant Fill them with a selection of cacti/succulants... possibly the ones I already have and some more. (If I go with this one I'd like to add some grasses too, or on the other side below my lounge room window I'd like some long planters for grasses, such as mondo grass, black mondo grass etc... It's so hard to decide!!! For this reason, I only got my herbs and inside plants today as I didn't want to get carried away as I'm not sure what to do. I will however get before and after photos of both the front porch area, carport and backyard. I forgot to add, I also bought three shallow black trays to grow some seed and millet.

Budgie Names
I also have themes... depending on what I like at the time. My original budgies each member of the family named them, then I had my first clutch of three chicks- Snap, Crackle & Pop. Second clutch of four- THE BEATLES- John, Paul, George & Ringo, 2 Cockatiels- Bert & Ernie and my current clutch- Mum named the budgie who went into the aviary and my two are Gucci and Dolce (after my favorite handbags )

New Aviary Finally Started.
Looks awesome Deb. You guys have been busy. It's exciting that it's nearly finished and full. I LOVE fitting it out. That's my favorite bit. I'm sure the birds will love it

Roxy Will Not Eat Seed
Sweet Deb. As Kaz said, she looks healthy so I guess she's getting what she needs. I hope you have more luck with getting her to eat more seeds.

Pot Plants For Birds
Excellent everyone... thanks so much. I'm off to the nursery today and am thinking I'll get some natives, herbs and I wouldn't mind an inside plant. I'll also get my 'seed planting' gear. Will have to see how far the budget stretches

Pot Plants For Birds
Yep... good ideas, but wouldn't mind some nice natives too, as they look nice and can be given to the birds. I'm big on natives but would like ones with 'multi purposes' I'm going to get some small trays for my bird seed too, so they can be rotated.

Pot Plants For Birds
As you all know, I'm living in a unit and don't have much of a garden. My backyard is small and doesn't get much sun. It kind of has a lawn but it's mostly weeds. I plan on trying to revive it if possible. I don't use the yard much so I keep my plants out the front. I currently have a few pots with cacti and succulents and one with some parsley. I want to add a few big pots either side of my lounge room window. It faces North/West, so gets afternoon sun (when we get it). I want something I can 'finger prune' for my birds. They also can't get too big as they are in pots and in the main driveway. Any ideas??? Peppermint tree, Bottlebrush, gum???? I'm hoping to be able to get dwarf varieties but any help would be great :hap:

Might As Well Introduce Myself While I Impatiently Wait!
Good idea. I'm always worried of over doing the 'please do this for me' thing... I don't want them to think I'm annoying them as they then might put all of my requests on the 'non urgent' pile... if you know what I mean. Good luck!

Breeding Budgies
Lovely... I have trouble letting go of the bubs. I have kept my first two clutches but my last one I gave two bubs to family friends... but it's still hard It's great when you can watch them grow into adults.

Might As Well Introduce Myself While I Impatiently Wait!
Hey... good luck with getting the okay. I had a similar situation. I just moved into a unit where pets were on approval only. My caged lizards were okay, my aviary... no. At the time I had mum, dad and five babies which needed daily checks. SO... i told them that I needed to look after them and the real estate agent said I could have them until they were big enough to look after themselves... so... I had them for that long, spoke to my neighbors and hoped for the best. Once the time was up, I removed all but MY TWO, and emailed them again. I said that I was feeling lonely and pets are my life.. that I vacuum daily and am a neat freak... that no one has complained about them and that they don't make mess... I was given the okay, but if their are any complaints, they will have to go. I emailed them often so they didn't forget as I think this is a low priority compared to their other work. It is however a fine line between you annoying them too much, and reminding them of it. You could speak to the other tentants if you want, or just wait for their approval. How long has it been? If you've got the okay from the owners, I'd be contacting the body corporate and saying they said okay and that you have been researching on how to properly care for your budgie, you have found the perfect cage and just need the okay to get it... if they say no, you can pull out the whole... I'm a very clean person, vacuum daily, member of a budgie forum/club etc.... Their are always options. Good Luck and let us know how you go.

Growing Bird Seed
Looks awesome! You can give it to them now, or let it grow bigger and get seed heads. Either is fine, and they love both. It won't be any healthier when it's bigger, they just might like it more. You can have two lots going it once and swap them when needed. Let us know how they go with it

Waiting On The Babies
Congratulations GRANNNY! :hap: Good luck with them...

Quails
:hap: I would say YES... as they are still a bird and can carry diseases just as budgies can. I'd do the 30 day thing for quarantine too.
