Good idea. I think we used it inside once...

THANKS!!! I just hope they haven't nested under the avairy and the little pinkies end up dying after the Mum and Dad get caught!
  3. Great photos. You have some really nice looking birds too!

They make my skin crawl... Lucky for me dad emptied the traps before I was even out of bed (bless him). He said they were grey, about 7.5cm (3") long (I'm hoping that includes the tail) and quite fat!!! eeekkkkkk!!! I've cleaned up the avairy but have tried not to disturb where they are comming in too much. I want to catch them ALL!!!!!!!!!! Then, after a few days of empty traps, I'll be plugging all the holes up so they can't get in (other than through the wire if they really want to) and cleaning everything again and again and again... I'll be sure to keep you all updated on the mouse count. Jimmy... I'm sure they have a place in the Eco System too... just not anywhere near me or my avairy!!! (P.S. You'd never know I used to own pet mice would you??? BUT they were tame, cleaned often and nice!!!)
  5. My budgies aren't really interested in too many of thier toys. Some of them (generally females) like to shread their paper one, and occasionally touch their other ones... but mainly they prefer to play with branches. My tiels on the other hand LOVE toys!!! Anything and everything... sometimes they be walking past one and accidently knock it and then go... wow... a toys... and then play with it. Very funny!!!
  6. Awwwww . Very sweet. I love her under eye markings. I also love the bed picture where Monty is squished in the corner, and Bella is kicking back stretched out! You go girl... us woman need our space. She is just divine, and now you have a pair

  12. I hope your eggs end up being fertile. Good Luck (Please be careful about double posting. I noticed you have four post, one after each other. Members are not meant to post directly after their last post. Thanks )
  13. Patience is a virtue my dear Norm. I can't comment on their quality etc... But you have some very pretty birds there. Your Blue dusk is just adorable, I'm still kind of scared of the red eyes (something about them freaks me out) and your others are beautiful!. Happy?!?!

Last time we had mice it took a little while before they took to the traps. Last night we set three. 'Low and behold' we caught TWO!!! A great start to the fight against small, foul smelling mice!!!
  15. ohhh... looking forward to those pics!
  16. :hap: :hap: BOM?????? That photo is brilliant! I was going to do some bird photography this weekend, but furniture staining and mouse eradication have jumped the list!
  17. Unfortunately, I think your housemate has won that one... My thought is Zeus is a BOY!!! And a very handsome one at that! Also, your last photo link says it has been removed. You can either fix the link, or I can remove it for you :hap:

That will NEVER happen in this lifetime!!! That is really cute. MY dog tries to be tough when he sees a cat, but if one comes anywhere near him he runs a mile. He loves to chase the little mice though... He could chase the mouse who would chase your cat who would chase my dog and they could all create a flurry of fur!! It sounds like your dog and my cat were 'cut off the same block' so to speak. I love your mouse/dog/cat hunting idea though :hap: I'm lucky enough to have never lost a bird to mice (sorry for your losses). I'm going through the bird room this weekend. I've already thrown out the part of their toys I couldn't save, and cleaned the ones I could. The smell is just putrid!!! YUK!!! We've never had rats and I'm very thankful for that!!! I think I may also need to do some hole/gap plugging along with my disinfectant frenzy!!!
  19. Congrats on your new buy...and sorry for your losses. :hap: I noticed you said Bo was kept in a cage alone for two weeks. Was this your quarintine? It's very important to quaritine them for atleast 30 days, (esp when you have already lost quite a few of your birds)

Thanks all... I did notice Kaz bought up mice in your post Jimmy. They must have heard her!!! Liv... I do have a cat, but she is more scared of things than they are of her. When she was a kitten she was outside and got swooped by a wattle bird in the backyard... I've never seen a kitten run so fast :hap: Hence... she is now an alderly 13 year old inside Cat, she scared of other cats, all birds, and I think if she ever saw a mouse, she'd be scared of it too!!!

You could if you really wanted to, but the above cage is more for those wanting to keep birds inside for good. I use a smaller cage for quarintine/hospital care (but that's for one budgie). If you buy all of your new birds from the one place/breeder, I wouldn't think you'd need to quarintine them as they're together already. Just when you bring a new one, two, or three... into the 'family', 30 day quarintine is important. Maybe something like this?? You'd just need to move the perches so they ran from back to front NOT side to side.
  22. Awwww, he has grown up to be a nice looking young man hasn't he

I know!!! :hap: This is only the second time I've had them in all the years of owning birds, but I'm not keen on them at all!!! I've been very busy today and will be tomorrow as well. I'm staining and varnishing my chest of draws and two bed side tables (which I've owned for two years and never got around to doing ), and because of the mice, I'm also cleaning out the bird room and disenfecting everything!!! I have my seed in airtight containers, but I'm thinking about storing everything in them... so if the mice do come back, I wont have to individually clean items, just the containers etc... grrr, so much for my relaxing long weekend!

I have mice in my bird room, where I keep all my supplies (but none in the actual avairy yet). I've got my traps all ready to bait and go in tonight. There is mouse poo and pee everywhere and not only is it very unheathy, it stinks to high heaven!!! So, I'm cleaning it out, scrubbing what I can with disinfectant (the things the birds don't get), but what should I clean the food dishes, toys (plastic and wooden) with? I'm esp worried about the toys as they chew them! Maybe I'll just throw the bits out I can't wash??? Any ideas would be fantastic... Then I'm going to bath in the disinfectant as I feel very DIRTY!!! eeeekkkkkk
  25. Your photography is just stunning! I don't have the patience to wait for those sort of photos! :(Laughing out loud):
