  1. Hello and welcome to you, your wife and your 'beautiful' birds. Good job at getting the pics at the right size. I'm sure you'll learn a lot here... as well as checking out the FAQ's, I found old posts to be very helpfull. Just use the 'search' button (top right hand corner) and enter what you're interested in... eg perches etc... Good luck, enjoy and post away. Even if you don't feel you have extensive budgie knowledge, feel free to join in the many posts we have going. Maesie xxx
  2. Congratulations. It's a very, very gorgeous photo

Thanks maesie , Does that Polenta go inside the cage or around the outside of it? My avairy is on pavers... so I sprinkle it in the gaps between them, and in the grooves at the bottom of the avairy. (I'm pretty sure it can be used in baking birdie bread -correct me if I'm wrong- so I figure if the birds happen to eat it it shouldn't be a massive problem.) You could also pour boiling water where the ants are comming in... burn the little *******
  15. ... :hap: Julie... it all sound fantastic! I love the progress photos too.

I've had this problem for like 'forever'. I've tried hanging food from roof (they climb on roof and down to food), I've tried the water surrounding thing, but the ants at my house LOVE water!!! grrrrrrrrrr. I use a number of things. I have a surface spray which I spray outside the avairy on NON windy days, inside I use vinegar(straight in a spray bottle), I have ant rid (sticky bates) where I think they are comming from (not near or in the avairy), and I'm also currently trying out Polenta??? The ants apparently eat it, then drink water and explode!. With all the above in action, they sort of seem to be under control. They are still on the bottom of the avairy, but their food (touch wood) is currently ant free. Good luck and let me know if you have any solutions that REALLY work.
  18. Great news. I was wondering how Olive was going (or should I say your other budgies!!!) in the avairy. I bet she's loving all the freedom :(Laughing out loud):
  19. They are just too cute. Like peas in a pod, twins, best buddies... I love them. It looks like they're loving your place and having each other as well.

Cockroaches... . I'm glad I don't have an issue with them. I agree with Kaz. If mm and bub are happy with it, let it be. As to getting something wrong. You seem to be doing very well... esp getting your pics in your post AND at the correct size too!!! :hap:
  24. Hi and welcome! I have some very bad news for you... You are already addicted!!! But I'd rather be addicted to this than something else like drugs or alcohol... Congrats on your 'nearly' newbie. We'd love to see pics when he arrives. As he will be young, make sure you can still see the bars on his head (they'll be on his forhead) as this means he is young) Good uck and keep us updated.
  25. That was really interesting! Thanks... BUT are you sure this info is correct??? As this would be one VERY LARGE budgie :hap: :hap: :hap: . (p.s. we can change it if you like)
