Gizmo and Pixie have officially joined the "big birds", this was their first excursion to the lounge/dining room . Gizmo Pixie Bubbles Sir Fluffycheeks (a.k.a Teddy) Pixie & Kaos Jinx wants a kiss....Kaos isn't to fond of the idea Mayhem & Titch, with a side of Pixie Skittles being Mr Antisocial And one of Bumblebee (Don't want him to feel left out)

I'm not as knowledgeable as some of the guys on this forum, so they'll probably be able to offer better advice. However what I've done in the passed is: *Firstly, don't try to grab them straight away. *Let them get used to you, sit by their cage and talk to them softly, or do other activities by their cage like reading. *When they're not so 'flighty' begin putting your hand in the cage and letting them get accustomed to it. *From there, you can try getting them to perch on your finger by gently running your finger down their chest applying a bit of pressure on their belly to get them to step up. (It's also handy to get them to learn the "Step Up" command.) *When they're confident doing that, trying moving them around the cage on your finger slowly. *Then begin holding them at the cage door, progress to holding them just outside the cage (If they do not have their wings clipped i.e can fly, make sure the room is budgie-proof first) And remember to persist, sometimes it can take months for a budgie to begin to trust you (example being my Bubbles), but it is worth it in the end. How awful . Silly nosey neighbours, who don't even have their facts straight. I'm sure you are a great budgie owner and eventually the RSPCA will see that.

I agree, they should know about things like that to sell animals. Granted, it can't be expected that everyone who works in the pet industry to be experts on all the animals they sell, however, when you think about it, it's not difficult at all to learn the basics for keeping pets as happy and healthy as possible. For the budgies sake I hope they are more experienced aswell and will do the right thing for him .

The poor thing. I hope it will be okay. And I really hope the pet shop staff do something about it, nothing makes me angrier than pet stores who leave sick and poorly birds in cages because they care more about making a profit than they do about the birds well being.

Hi Jason, As Phoebe mentioned, they're are pro's and con's to consider. I found that having two or more budgies in a cage didn't particularly hinder the taming process, infact two of my newest budgies, Pixie & Gizmo, are proving fairly easy to tame. They have just finished quarantine and joined my other 7 budgies, and after seeing them crawling all over me, it was as if they seemed to think "well if they can do it, so can we!" (Laughing out loud). However, I also believe it has alot to do with the budgies personality, some prefer to sit with me all day, while some like to socialise with the other budgies and pay me a visit when it suits them. I've also found wing clipping to be a great help, though I don't get them clipped for taming per say, but rather safety reasons.

Ozzie really is a gorgeous colour. And of course Blinkie is aswell

These are my four newest additions (care of Wayno ). They don't really have names yet but I am thinking Zeus & Hera and Estel & Arwen respectively. 'Hera' (looking a little startled (Laughing out loud)) is a grey opaline and 'Zeus' is a normal skyblue. 'Estel' is also a normal skyblue and 'Arwen' is a skyblue danish pied (?)
