Hey NickNack welcome to the forum. Would love to see some pictures of your budgies.
  6. Congrats, that's great to hear!
  7. Your flock is gorgeous.
  8. Wow, that's awesome news, I'm so very jealous! (Laughing out loud) And going to Africa, what an experience! If you don't mind me asking, where do you do your vet course? As within the next couple of years I'm hoping to go back as 'mature age student' and do a vet or vet nurse course, so I'm beginning to look at my options .

    Sounds like a great plan.
  10. Beautiful looking budgie :wine
  11. I am sorry to hear about Beaky. :wine
  12. What a beauty :wine
  13. I hope beaky pulls through, my thoughts are with you and your family.
  14. I've had the same problem with my outdoor aviary. The mice droppings can contaminate food and this can cause disease and illness in your birds, I would suggest setting a few traps outside the aviary.
  15. That is awesome news! What a clever little budgie :bluebudgie: . I personally don't think there is a 'normal' when it comes to training and/or taming, it just depends on the bird, some take to it fairly quickly while others can take a much longer time. But that's just my opinion .
  16. I think persistance is the key to adding variety to your budgies diet. Just keep giving them their fresh fruit and/or veggies daily and eventually they'll cotton on. I also found sprinkling a little bit of seed over some veggies (or mixing it in with grated carrot) helped. As for what to feed them, there is plenty of info in the FAQ's under 'Food and Nutrition' *Click Here*
  17. You have a beautiful flock and I love the aviary set up!
  18. Hi and welcome to the forum, sorry to hear of your losses :budgiedance: . You could try adding ice blocks or even a small frozen drink bottle to their water dish, our outdoor birds love taking a bath in it in the hot weather.
  19. Beautiful looking babies .
  20. I completely agree, for the well being of your budgie, it's best to have their wings clipped by someone who knows what they are doing e.g a vet. If for whatever reason you choose to do it yourself, like Elly suggested, have a blood stopping substance like corn flower or unscented soap.

That's so cute. Skittles does the exact same thing and I always wonder how he manages to 'kick/throw' it up into the water bowl as it's a fair distance of the bottom of the cage (for a budgie anyway)
  22. Great job! What a beautiful little flock you hve there.
  23. Maesie makes some excellent points. I would also take taming/training into consideration. If you get a play mate for Zeus he may not bond with you, prefering the company of a fellow budgie. However this isn't always the case, I have 9 budgie's in my flight cage, some love to sit with me, some only like the company of the other budgies and others alternate between the two. I think it depends alot on the budgie's personality.
  24. Beaky is adorable :hap: . Some natural perches, like a washed eucalyptus branch, would be good exercise for his feet, plus some budgies enjoy nibbling on the leaves . And that is the way you add photos, however they have to be 450x450 pixels or less in size (I think, anyhow it's listed under 'Board Terms, Conditions and Rules'). To resize, you can either do it on your computer before you upload or use a website such as photobucket to edit your images. :hap:
  25. Your flock is gorgeous....such beautiful colours! :hap:
