  1. You said - "My hen is more vocal that him. She sings insanely all the time. But it is nice & melodic to hear. I love the different noises that she makes & they are never loud & hard on the ears." are you sure your hen is a HEN??? hens dont tend to "Sing", they will cherp, but not have that lovely song that the boys have. Perhaps your screemer IS looking for a hen afterall hehehe
  2. Thanks Daz, I you have been so helpful and i have enjoyed looking at the links you have provided. I will put the band details on here tomorrow when i check and hopefully they will answer all my questions.
  3. I will catch him again and check tomorrow. I will take a pen and paper and write it down exactly. might see if i can get some pictures of it too You have me really excited about him and i am REALLY hoping you are right about his age. :hap: If he is of breeding condition, how do i get him interested in one of my hens??? Or dose he think he is too handsome for one of my "pet-type" females  - would he prefer a show type??? Also, he is obviously a show type, but would he do well in a show?
  4. Sounds gorgeous!! Have you got any pictures???
  5. 3 years old!!! thats really exciting! But why is he not interested in ANY of my hens - I thought he was past all that "fooling around" hehehe I just caught him and took another look Its diffinantly 94 BSSA and an orange band
  6. This is BG (Big Grey) I have had him for about 2 years - he is an old man with a ring that says "94"!!!!! I think he is really handsome in his old age I was just wondering if someone could tell me his type please? Thanks, Liv
  7. Wow Kaz, **Sobs** What a gorgeous story of servival. Good luck with the foster parents. :hap:
  8. Misting is not a punishment, but more a distraction My birds love it when i mist them, they fluff about and preen having a ball in the shower of little droplets. I do it from a distance and it's very gentile. Too close and they will sneeze and shake their heads. They all quietly groom themselves (and each other) afterwards. It could help break the cycle of screeching
  9. I have never heard any of my birds make a sound like a fire alarm. He is actually sounding a bit like a Cockatiel. They do the WHEEEEEP!WHEEEEEP!WHEEEEEP! sound you describe - I know he's not a Cockatiel, but perhaps he is mimicking a sound he learnt from his previous home? e.g. a companion Cockatiel or perhaps he lived close to someone with an alarm that sounded often? He might be "talking" I don’t think he is trying to be naughty and he certainly doesn’t sound unhappy or bored. They always say to replace bad behavior with good behavior. Perhaps try and teach him some words to say instead??? Will a radio or music help? Have you ever tried misting him with a water sprayer - they love it and it might distract him from his calling? Good Luck.

Was there any blood around the nib of the lost feathers? They could have been pulled out in a squabble or an accident that you didnt see.

  17. An Update... His toe is free!! I have tried about once a week to get it off, slowly trimming the toenail shorter and shorter, carful not to get the vein. Well today his toe sliped right though the ring and its now free Thanks for all your help and advice liv
  18. Ohh, Juli is pretty! All the more to love Congratulations on your "bump"!! I have 2 toddlers. When are you due?
  19. That angary sound he/she is making is a very "Hen" thing to do. Boys have the pretty voices and will even sing to them selves if there is no one there to listen. Dont be upset . He/She will come around. persistence and patience. Dont give up, It will get better
  20. **PHEW** I had this horrible image of mushy eucalypt stew being served in a bowl
  21. Taming advice is a bit like parenting advice . Every one is different and different methods work better for different birds . If you feel the tonnel method is not working, give Elly's method a try and see if your little bub prefers it better.
  22. If you soaked it for 5 mins in hot water, wouldn't the leaves go all mushy and yuk . Also wouldn't all the good oils and minerals come out the the leaves???
  23. Looks GREAT! I bet it smells really good too . I love the smell of fresh wood. You have some very pretty colours among your birds - i especially like the blue opaline preening under its wing
  24. I'm So sorry for your loss. - She is in peace now and no longer suffering :angel1: Great to hear Sunny is well
  25. Elly said it all Would love to see a picture of your birds.
