  1. Great looking pairs just wait a bit for mellow to be able to breed and all is well
  2. They should be over 12 months old AT LEAST (for a general rule) Some times you can have exceptions, but not very often and not by much
  3. Totally agree with Kaz, very young bird indeed!
  4. Cock looks very young to me, can't even see Iris rings yet. Hen looks a little young also :S
  5. Great photo's kaz! Looks like it would've been so much fun!
  6. if the parents do not feed the correct mixture a bub can still become dehydrated no matter how much water is in the cage. Can you get a photo of this little ones crop? When they go a dark red, skinny, dy and flaky they have severe dehydration and it may be too late if you do not step in
  7. i hate to say it Bird_paradise But Nitro didn't die from a stroke, that is clear fitting behaviour... When was the last time this bird had been fed? was it cold where he was housed? If neither of those are the cause I highly suggest taking it for an autopsy to see what it was exactly that killed him, but lack of food is the most common thing to lead a bird to fit when nothing else seems wrong.
  8. Aww isn't he gorgeous! Should send him to the olympics next time around! he's a fast one :hap:
  9. he he well done sweety!!! You forum-a-holic

Howdy and welcome What a VERY busy life you must have with so many kids and wonderful pets around :hap: Be careful the snake does not get into your aviary and eat the quails or budgies. Snakes quite often do...
  12. 33 degrees :hap: Jesus Neat, you might as well live up north of WA, temps like that up there all the time haha! Sounds wonderful Jenene!!! Spring certianly has "sprung" hahaha! Can't wait to see the beautiful babies hatch :hap:
  13. As good of a job as you did I unfortunatly think you'll lose birds out of there as they'll eat their way out Also you don't have a base on it, if that blows over, they're gone
  14. I think you may need to look again Dave, Dad is NOT spangle, but instead a cinnamon/greywing yf2 Depending on whether we can get a picture of this bird with a flash i'd say you guys are pretty on it with lacewing...But dad is not spangle, so this bub(if it is spangled) isn't from those parents. Just looked at the pictures of bub again, it is not a spangle. I still think it's a lacewing though, but yet to see from the eye colour in a flash if possible, if not we have to start all over again with the classification haha!
  15. I'd have to agree with that Dave. Joel, perhaps only give opinions when they're asked for by the member. Here i think you went out of your way to try to belittle Kaz' selection of birds when to be honest, no one wanted to hear what you had to say.

  17. Agree it's called opalesence. It doesn't only happen in cocks, it happens in hens also, but doesn't necessarily mean there is opaline in the genes. My yf1 violet show hen has ALOT of opalesence, but is still a normal and obviously can't be split as she's a hen.

Aww what a lovely suprise! Got to love thoughtful men :budgiedance:
  19. Haha not cheating! it's just a way of storing knowledge without me having to personally write it down, it's been done for me We all get info from somewhere P.S. Joel, TCB's are Sexlinked not recessive, their rules also bend by the adaption of Ino in their genes.
  20. Sure is, very possible. Means the cock was split opaline
  21. Hehe that's not my secret This is - http://home.gil.com.au/~dwellsadsl/prbsinc/index.htm
  22. Split to split will give 25% dilute, 50% splits and 25% normals dilute to split will give 50% dilute 50% splits
  23. How horrible to lose such a gorgeous bird you were so fond of Sorry for your loss... I agree though, great autopsy photo's very detailed, although I don't think I'll be trying it myself
  24. Dilute is a recessive gene, so all offspring are split for it
  25. Sounds good to me got it all worked out
