The trouble with trying to give these birds a handle,is they are breed from,birds that have been breed by pet breeders.I have nothing against that.Its just when they ask you to give them a breed.Its a bit like a xbreed dog.They have 56 varietys mixed up in there. The budgies are the same.Dom pie xspangle x cinommon xclearwing x recessive pie, & fellow for good measure. PS just look at the post above.They can`t be green series.I rest my case,if there is not green in there ,the yellow has ran through from the Y/F.

The pet market,must be better over your side of town Kaz,The best I can get is $8.00.Most going for $3 to $5.00.I was getting $11.00 from a pet shop a couple ayears ago.But that ended, when it chanced hands.

Your not thinking of breeding those 2 together,are you Kaz.Not a good mix,for show birds.maybe okay for pets & we dont need to try & breed them.They come along without trying.It`s the good ones that are hard to breed :budgiedance:

Daz,Thats right suffusion,cinimmon is surpose to help,to soften suffusion,I have`nt tryed to breed DF SP.I do have a cinimmon SP,But I have not used it with a SP. :budgiedance:

Splat,You said the cock & the hen,were greygreen sp/blue.No mention of cinommon.If there is cinommon in there, the double factor spangle,should`nt be showing cinommon.Will be interesting to see when,it moults out.

Norm I would take the chicks out of the nest box & put them on the cage floor,the cock is more likely to feed them if they are on the floor.

Perhaps the bird park owner, has taken them.

First chick hatched,Saturday, had 22 at 1900 hrs tonight.Of the 20 pair I put down,18 pair are fertile. All I hope now I can breed a half decent,1or 2 show at the UBC show in early september.

Hey Dude,Do you realy have 500 budgie`s.Your answers have a hole or two in them.You say you can`t get near the birds.Yet in the photos,they are siting in feeders & 0n the children head,If Iam wrong I apologise. Budgie Dude,It would be safe to say,you don`t live on a normal house size block.With aviary of that size. Alot of work,would of gone into building an avairy`s of that size.

Post a photo of his wing stretched out.Might be able to tell that way,What the problem is.As Kaz said one of many things.

Pie,The so called pet lovers,are usely the crual one when it comes to there pets. I have seen it time & time again.The poor thing can hardly move or shite & they say, poor freddy I could`nt have him put to sleep.

Daz, that is the number of birds in a BRASEA Auction.I have been to 2 in Sydney & they were both over 300 birds.It depends on the auctioneer.If he keeps it rolling.I would think it would be finished by 1600. I don`t think there will be many lots over the 3000.00 mark.

Kruger,what is it about.The Hills auction that there is so many,bird that sell for those prices.No dought they are good birds.But we never get near.Those prices,here in Vic,& we have some good breeders,that sell birds & we dont get within a bulls roar of those prices,Perhaps we have to deep of pockets& no big spenders.

I was at a Auction today,here in Vic,There was a opline/albino put up in the Auction.In the comments collum. It said ,grandson of the $5000.00 albino cock. It made $30.00,Now there is no way of proveing if it was, indeed the grandson of that cock.The breeder was from NSW.He had 12 birds in the Auction,& off the top of my head only 1 made over $50.00. it made $220, The moral to this story,just because its related to an expencive bird,if it dosent look the part, they sell for peanuts.

Timbo,I have read about that fatal gene,But havent had any personal experiance with the problem.All the crested breeders I know.Dont breed crest to crest,because they are trying to breed size into there birds,so they breed crest to normal or crest breed.You don`t get as many crests.But they are usely biger then finches.Or sparrows.

Back in the in the last century :glare: HG would hold his own Auctions in Vic & NSW,With about a 150 birds at each Auction.He would take home with him after the Auction, about $ 30000.00,To spend $8 or $10 thousand $. Is not a problem to HG, I say good luck & I hope he can breed a few goodens.
