  1. The bird dealer, pays us,regardless of age. Greens $1.80 Blues & grey $3.00 Spangles $5.00 Red eyes $5.50 Dom Pie $6.00 & Rec Pie $6.50.He picks up from 200 to 400 birds each Quarter.
  2. GB you do what you want to do. But for the vet to say the pet type are more hardy, that very debateable. The truth beknown, the problem may of come from, your ""pet type"", Just that they are not showing any signs, just the carrier of the the problem. I will leave it at that,
  3. I am not overly optimistic ... but with any luck I will fluke one - so it is official: I am in the market for an OLIVE or 2 Thats were the problem starts, is to find an olive to breed with, that is worth the trouble,to breed with. All the budgie auction I have been to I have only seen a couple,so best of luck with your search for one.
  4. GB you took them to the right place, Walkers the bird vet specialist. Its up to you but I would put all the birds on the treatment. I don't think they will stress the ones on eggs if you shut down the nest boxes & treat all the birds.
  5. I don'5t think you can class a budgie, half show half pet,its a bit like a glass of water. is it half full or half empty. You call it one or the other,it a pet type or show type. Its hard enough to breed a good budgie,to be fiddleing around with pet shop type birds.
  6. Looks like it - some VERY nice birds there. There, as in W.A. ? This little chickadee is heading to Sydney They don't need any more good ones in Sydney, they have enough there now.
  7. You could get an Emu,they are big enough to give a HUG.
  8. WA,should have a good team for the National, next year with all thee good chicks about.
  9. I think,if budgies, were insect eaters they would have a different shape beak. I don't quite see them catching insects. I could be wrong,do your experment Richo & tell us how it goes.
  10. They are missing there flight feathers,by the look of it,
  11. There are some very good budgie breeders in the Maitland area. I think it is the Hunter club, they will help you, with your problems.Deb.
  12. I think the simple way to look at the breeding for colour is. it is worked out on 100 birds from that pair. Now I doubt anyone is going to breed a 100 chicks, from a pair of birds, So you may never breed say an Olive.
  13. The problem, I have encounted in feeding high protein & things, was had some good sized birds, But they did't breed for me.I might of just pumped them up to much.As the saying goes, all is good in moderation.
  14. Kaz You paid $5 more then you needed, you just need to match the $50 with your $50 the next bidder has to go $55. I agree with you about the lucky dip auction,by numbers.
  15. The easy way to to this Linda,is to join a club & take your birds to the club. The experince breeders will help you sort out your birds, for you.As has been said it is hard to cull just loooking at pictures.
  16. You hit the nail right on the head, the give away is the pink feet.
  17. Dave, looking at the photoes of your birds& avary, I noticed were you had cleaned up the sand, there looked to be a damp line around the edge of the wall & floor. You may have to look at rain comeing in.damp floors can cause problems.
  18. Why not the second one,it looks no different to the others.
  19. He would of looked good of he had been spotted. :D
  20. The good thing Splatt,it looks like you have, cleaned up that subfusion.looking foward to seeing them at the show.
  21. I bet the judge, felt a bit of a goose, seeing as he asked any questions. Perhaps he needs to wear glasses in future, if he is going to ask questions. He left himself wide open,to be shot down.
  22. By that second photo. I would say its a silly hen, too,or is it just the photo.
  23. Are they breed in a breeding box or in a colenay, with other birds.
  24. Just check, because it is going to WA you may not be able to put any seed of any kind in the box.
