  1. :laughter: Have to go out and put my arm in the cage again in minute, lol being putting it off.
  2. she hasnt posted a picture of her cage yet Splat OOOPS :laughter:
  3. :laughter: One of those suits sounds great where do you get them :laughter: Ages, the youngest is about 3 weeks old not feather probably yet.
  4. Yes and I am never going to forget either, But I am mallowing towards giving them accasional wet food. Because I am now sure it was the oiled seed (cod liver) Kaz does that whole egg food go off that you sent me as I still have half left.
  5. Funny she is soooooooooo scary. :fear Her behavour is no better today. Poor baby on the floor just over 4 weeks old screaming for food with a few feather missing on top on head (the cow) so I set myself up with protection, parker and thick gloves trying to grap her to put her back in the nest , WELL WHAT A JOB, any way managed it and she has stayed there. If I had some where to put the babies I would and then don't yell at me but she would be gone , the hen that is, not using her again, WHAT A NIGHTMARE, JUST WAITING FOR TO KILL THE BABIES. :fear Greg reckons she is just a good mum, **** she has gone over board. Geoff (Clearwing has one of my hens and he said she attacks and bites him too , he reckons I breed bitches ) :laughter: BUT he has no idae what this hen is like :laughter: much worse :fear
  6. I have that cage here but we extended the front of it so they have a flight, we have our cockatiels in it. I Think 3 pair is enough for that size cage as it is only small and they really don't have much room to fly and escape any fights that may occur.
  7. splat replied to nubbly5's topic in Show Results
Congrats Nubbly great result, he is a lovely bird
  8. 135m round, do you mean metres if so that makes it huge. If not it is probably to small. If in cold climate like victoria it might be to cold for them. I haven't really got many my birds down as it is to cold. And what I have got down aren't breeding much either.
  9. Fang I have a better name that. Today I snapped at her and told her she was a bad tempered little so and so. Honestly she is unbelievable, if this was my first experience with breeding I don't think I would ever continue. She waits for to go near the wire ready to pounce. Her parents and her grandparents were all lovely mannered birds. This hen is a friek. Kaz sorry you have her dad, Dk green cock. have you got anything out of him yet? Just hope he doesn't produce any physcho's like this hen. When I let her out into the breed room it was by choice I couldn't get her off my arm, and when she let go and flew to the wire door where the inside aviary is and then flew back I actually put my hands over my head to protect my safe , That is how scary she is.
  10. Do you just have the 3 pair in the aviary or is there more birds in there too
  11. Aviary breeding is much harder than cabinet breeding and you need more nest boxes than pairs, I would put another 3 boxes in as they fight over boxes. They also like their boxes up high. If you can put all boxes at the same hight as it will save fighting. Good luck
  12. Oh my gosh this sky blue hen is driving me nuts, I hate her soooooooooooooooo much at the moment. Today one of the babies was out of the nest so after arming my self with my thick woolen gloves and my parker making sure all skin was covered tried and put the chick back ,,, well the little so and so was stuck to my arm bitting and screeching. It was horriable. I managed to put the chick back BUT a couple of hours later she was out again. She is about 4 1/2weeks old. So I thought I would put a platform in the cage for the chick to get some cover in case the crazy mother attacks her, WELL my god she went persurk.... So the only way I could do it was let her out in the bird room and even then I thought she would attack me but she didn't. Even when I try and top up the finger draws she trys to bite my fingers... gosh I hate her. Who needs a doberman when you have her. Just hope the babies don't turn out like her.
  13. Is the blue spangle bibs as short as it looks or is it the photo. If it is hope he moults out with longer bib. But they all look really good, can't wait to see how they mature
  14. What sort of cage are they ( like an aviary or seperate cages,) If aviary... how many nest box do you have in there. If in seperate breeding cages .... what size is cage . If you are already trying to breed... how long have they been in the breeding box etc. Are birds old enough etc
  15. Lovely little chicks Kaz, Omellete has been a great brood hen for you very lucky
  16. Very nice Kaz, the blue spangle looks to have a short bib. the grey and blue look to be boys, are they?
  17. I know Clearwing. This was Kevin C that does this plus a couple of more but after talking to Mick NO MORE. Fresh seed just like you no oils or anything. Oh he is all good now, he is in the large hospital now with a light at one end.
  18. any colour but I warm towards Violet
  19. GB don't forget the yellow face DF spangle is a full sister and the cobalt hen is neice on the mothers side and uncle on the fathers side, so the violet hen is in bother her parents. And the dk green hen is an aunty she is ot of the violet hen too. They don't have the head or feather she has but like you said it's in their gentics.
  20. Well that's how mine are going to get theirs from now on His poops are almost normal Here is now still with a of vomit on his front but that's from when I found him. He is very perky now here is is droppings from last and this morning , not sticking to his underneath. AND not a cramy colour either
  21. Just read Daz's blog and I am with him no more but then it is cold here. But what I think happened is there is this breeder here that is a naturapath, well anyway he told me to make up 5kg of seed and then mix 50ml of codliver oil, 5mls of poly oil and 7.5mls of garlic oil which I did. But I asked him my concern of the codliver oil going ranist or off and he said he makes up 20kgs and it's good for 6 weeks as the garlic oil is a good preserver. Well my opinion is I think mine went off. But then it good be the wet food that caused it who knows. But have have chucked out all remainder oiled seed. And there is no wet food in cages. I am giving them their oats dry . They are still getting egg and biscuit in finger drawers plus high energy vitamins. My boy looks great today fully recovered I think.
  22. Thanks Nubbly, yep that was a big fright as he is the type of bird I am trying to breed. I took this boy to the Riverina Diploma show with no tail and thinking they would disqualify im straight away but the 2 judges spent ages trying to decide if he had a tail or as it looked like he had a short one. But then they decided no. I only took him along to see what they thought of him. Later on after the judging I was talking to bruce Sheppard one of the judges and I thanked him for looking at him and he commented that he was the best bird there. And it was good for me to bring him out as he may regrow his tail. I want to put him over as many hens as possiable. But probably late this year or next year as I want him to have plenty of time to get over his illness.
  23. Yes wack them both in the show cage and then we can , Nubbly what do you think. That baby is that the one they bred from your splat girl. very nice. She is looks big is she, is that cock a good size as I feel you need a good size cock over her.
