Hi all does any one on here buy millet spray in bulk, I use to buy it from ebay but Millie hasn't had it in stock for ages only 1kg lots and smaller.

Because Gb all the ones that haved died have a yellow belly, looks like egg yolk inside them, I didn't want to admit to myself I had a problem but now I am doing something about it, the baby that hatched today has been fed well so I will see how it is tomorrow. I am not really sure if this nest has yellow belly but the baby that died did have yellow egg yolk in it's belly but not as bad as the other nest where 3 died. I have 2 other nest with babies hatching and all is good. But I know what you are saying GB.

I cooked the motor Kaz, I did such a good job that i warped the head

Just got the report on my car, I am up for about $400. for a second motor but they need to do a test on it to make sure the rings are good etc, $200 for a set of hoses about $80. for a water pump and money a gasket plus fitting it and he said all up bit over $1000. :angel: BUT he said for a new head was 1200 with out tax on it, so this is the cheaper way to go and I should have my car back by the end of next week if all goes well. Best news is I am allowed to pay it off so that is why I am getting shed :doh:

The baby that hatched yesterday was dead this morning and she has hatched another one, yesterday I put a 4 day old chick in with her to in courage her to feed but still the chick was dead, so in the last week out of 2 nest I have lost 5 chicks and one went missing, so now I think I have yellow belly. well I guess I do have yellow belly. :angel: I really hope this one that hatched today makes it. I have put the infected nest on moxyT. I am seriously thinking of finishing up my breeding for the year as everything is going wrong. And if I take them all out of the nest and treat them they will go into a moult and then that will take 8 weeks to complete and then it will be too hot to breed anyway. So I am bred 32 young and I have 7 little chick so I may end up with 40 for the year, bad really. BUT what is so dissapointing is that I have got only 2 out of my yellow DF sp and nothing as yet out of my white one. :doh:

Hey Gb what's wrong with CF as people will think you are Colin Flanagan :doh: and be after your birds left right and centre from the pet shop if they ever go there in the future, :angel: until they relise the number is different I had no choice over me code but then if Greg and I went partnership I think it would of been who knows.

I hear people say bounce them all the time but I I don't think they actually bounce them as that is horriable. I think it is an expression.

Don't double ring GB, I did it last year and really it was a pain in the back side and I end up cutting blue rings off bird that I shouldn't of so now I have none to show next year. Double ringing is stupid I found that out the hard way.

I am really sorry you lost that beautiful but at The same time thankyou as I need a hen to go to heaven to and she is suffering in the hospital cage for a while now. NO meds will fix her so tomorrow if I have the courage I will try that. My hen is waisting away and all the meds the vet put her on and still no better so I think it is time. she is the full sister to my yellow DF spangle cock and I really thought she was worth saving but I can't any more.

Well Dean I can really see that you know what i going through because it is basically the same here. My best double factor cock (yellow) and his son(white) which I have done well with both and they have both thrown me top babies last year and throwing blanks but I am starting to think it is the hens not the cocks. BUT REALLY ANNOYING as I WAS COUNTING ON THOSE 2 BOYS this YEAR. Sucks because Kaz has the brother to the white one and son of the yellow one and she is getting babies and I am NOT BUT I am PLEASED YOU ARE KAZ DON'T GET ME WRONG but I wish my boys would do the job for me :glare: My Yellow boy is 07 so I really want some more out of him this year and I was hoping from different hens but I may have to put him back to his old father mother of all my good birds too and hope and cross my fingers. I have only bred 32 chicks to date, make 33 today but it has to live yet. But my moto is.... it is albout quality not quanity and I am pleased to say there are only 1 or 2 than maybe culled over all so far

I know one breeder who is still going to use 2010 rings until the run out and he said the will be about october because he said you can't show the 2011 until the following year. It's **** how it has worked out I think. Anyway I think I will you mine straight away because after all we are breeding for the 2012 Nationals after September and it will be in Geelong Victoria.

Time will tell but then I need to remember that it is an outcross pairing

Thanks GB and Kaz, but I have decided today that I am going to get my shed. I think, I am still waiting on news of my car, yesterday he said I did a really good TOP job of cooking it AND the way I see it I have been saving and planning for a while now so why should it all come to an end. As for knowing what I am doing this year I am quite lost in my breeding plans Kaz BUT I took a step back the other day and relised what i was doing wrong. And that was bringing in to many outcrosses to early, so now I am focusing on my own birds as I did for the last few years. Most of my birds don't need outcrosses yet. If anything most of them need to go back into my line not out again. So I have my fingers crossed that my plans work :glare:

Well I have made up my mind, even though I cooked my car which is devastating in is own right, the machanic is trying to work out what will be cheaper, new head and do the ring, a second hand motor and I don't know something else. ANY I have decided why should I go without my new breedroom when I have been trying sooooo hard to save for it. So I am getting it, next week I am ordering it. So watch this space. BUT it will be a very slow progress. My plan is get the shed and let it sit there for a while against the fence because it is too wet to cement at the moment anyway. BUT then once it warms up a bit do the slab then put the shed up. But then it will be slow saving the money for the lining ect and paying for my car. It will be ready hopefully for next year breeding. I kinda have this idea that once breeding room is finished all my breeding birds will be in there and when you walk into my exiting breed room the 1st section will be holding area for birds as there are 4 big cages there plus hospital cage and the second section will be storage for seed etc then you walk into my baby aviary which I may keep or make into a holding area too because I am thinking of making my newest part of my existing breed roo which is 6 feet wide and 11 feet long into 2 flights. Anyway can't wait

If the bird has lost weight and his keel bone is showing it sounds like he could have megabacteria which is a secondary infection. So if so something has set this off. Did your vet give you any medication to bring home to treat the birds like for example doxy. I hope you bird makes it. BUT it really doesn't sound good.
