Hi welcome, you have some lovely coloured birds
  2. Kaz did you get my to pm,s because it is not showing up and when i went into sent items it syas none to be found. HELP
  3. Actually it was an old breeder who told us, and for french molt {touch wood} I haven't had a case of it yet. My nest boxes are cleaned regularly, never a build up of droppings as I like my babies clean. Plus I have false bottoms in all my nest box and I i have spares to swap when cleaning. That's right Kaz they really don't know what causes it.
  4. I ring mine between 7 and 12 days old, there feet need to be big enough so the ring doen't come off. I put 3 toes in then use the quill end of a feather to pull the third toe through which is the one that is short and wraps around the perch the thumb kind a one. I hope that makes sense. There should be some info here in the forum I will see if I can find a picture for you
  5. I have been putting millet spray in there nest for the last 2 yrs and yes it makes a huge difference I think. But I was warned at our last budgie meeting that if you have any of those moths that hang around and get into your seed which I can't remember the name of them. well they can get into your nest box also and lay there what evers and the baby chicks pick and around on the floor of the nest box and eat there what evers and it can cause french molt. So we were warned if we see any of these moths any where that we must spray them and so on. I have never seen any any my breeding room but last summer I did have a lot of moths in my avairy, they were in the drink water
  6. Glad your on the mend Dave. :fly:
  7. Thanks Kaz, tryed it today and it is great, we have a lemon tree here that is loaded all year around with huge lemons.
  8. I agree with Renee, seperate the hen for a few days then put a new cock in. I have the same problem with my Grey Green Cock he is a beautiful big bird, he won best variety at the show earlier this year and all I want is young out of him but he is totally useless, he thinks if he puts his leg on the hen then the job is done, had him down with several different hens all clear eggs so I have given up on him for this year. This is not a good picture of him But Renee I will try the iodine and see what happens
  9. Wow Kaz they are stunning babies, you should be very pleased with them. One of my hens laid 9 eggs and she sat on them all and every one hatched but as I ringed them I transferred them to foster nest and left her with 4.
  10. Just took 8 to the pet shop and there was 1 white DF Spangle, 2 grey spangles, 1 grey green spangle and they were all out of half brother to the cock bird above but they were small for me. and 2 had very heavy markings. Gee most of my birds are spangle and it is driving me nuts.
  11. Lovely babies, gee your cat must be good, I would be too scared to try that.
  12. ha! ha! but your welcome any time melbournebudgies
  13. Yep she is a beauty, hope to breed more like her, she naturally rolls her head all the time and I think that is the difference. I took the pics today and the show was over 2 weeks ago and it didn't matter how I took the picture she is a natural.
  14. On the 14th of September 4 of my uncapped birds were selected to go to Melbourne for the Victorian Uncapped show. I didn't go as I can't drive in Melbourne but my birds got a ride down. I sent a sky blue cinnamon Spangle a white double factor spangle which is full sister to the sky blue cinn Spangle a grey spangle and a grey Well I got 2nd in Victoria for the Sky blue cinn Spangle and 28th for the grey spangle 7th for the white double factor spangle and no placing for the grey But I am wrapped about the 2nd and 7th as I did so well against Champion breeders and I am a beginner. WOW Here is the picture of the sky blue cinn Spangle, actually 3 pics she is soooo nice her mother is this cobalt spangle which when I put them down I thought is was a bad match and her father is my winning bird from earlier this year yellow double factor spangle
  15. Hi Dave this is my young Yellow face DF Spangle there are 2 in the nest and both are cinnamon she is 4 weeks old.
  16. Opps sorry about my spelling, not with it today. But gee Kaz have me thinking about fixing up my little breeding room. Whet out and had a look !!! I thought now if I tiled the floor it would look much brighter and then I was thinking I could insulate the walls and put panels on like yours. and the roof, which would make it much cooler in the summer. Sounds good to me. BUT Greg will say NO waste of money. Going to price the stuff tomorrow when I go to Shep shopping. Got me thinking now???????????
  17. WOW! Fantastic KAZ, love it ! love ! Love it! I would love a set up like that. It looks like it will be a dream to work in.
  18. Cool Love them. Seen Morgana in the Budgerigar Council of Victoria mag we get, when the Nationals were in WA.
  19. Yep I have a nest of nine. The parents are dad a yellow face sky blue spangle and mum a cobalt spangle and they had nine eggs and everyone hatched and so far I have 2 yellow face white double factor spangles, both with a pale lemon suffion all other and bright yellow faces. There is one sky blue spangle with yellow through wings which is a very pretty colour, one grey spangle with just a tiny bit of lemon through wings an the others I can't tell let. The problem of putting yellow face with spangle is that the yellow bleeds through the wings and then you really can't show them.
  20. Daz real sorry to hear about your loss, I am glad you worked out what the problem was and everything is back on track. good luck for the future with your lovely birds. I had 2 deaths this week, within 2 days of one and other, the vet hasn't rang yet with the results. Well Daz I hope everything goes well for you now.
  21. That's a great web site really cool toys
  22. Yes I agree, I go in everyday and study my flock, check their bottoms ect to make sure they are all in good health
  23. That sounds great Kaz, pity, my son Adam is over there near you in Mandurah probably spelt that wrong but any way he is a carpenter and a good one too. good luck with it all
  24. Neat I am a bit slow when it comes to finding links, yeek but if you go into ebay and go to community up the top right hand corner, I think and hit that and then type in petsforce01 and it will take you to them, good luck Yes the shipping is great most products are about $5.00 each postage but the thing is say %.oo postage and every other item is $1.00 extra. The items I order which was 3 things and I payed $7.00 postage from Sydney to Vic Country, and when I got my things the postage had over $9.00 worth of stamps on it.
  25. I thought I would share this with you all. Last week I was looking at the Vetafarm site when I came across Vetafarm products sold on ebay in a store so I checked it out and wrote Gary questions on products and there use by dates etc, well I decided to order and with in 3 days I had my products. Gary told me that Vetafarm are going through his store to try and get their sales up and to me it's great because i can pay using my bank account because I refuse to own a credit card. I had some questions on one product and Gary sent Vetafarm a email and Ben from Vetafarm rang me this morning to answer my questions. So I was very happy knowing that Vetafarm and petsforce are working together The store is petsforce01 The postage is really good too, it is worth while checking it out.
