How To Do A Concave
Here is a the hole half way through using the flap disc and the finished, notice that the wood is clamped down so it doesn't move and I used goggles to protect my eyes. I even round off the end of the false bottom that sticks out of the nest.

How To Do A Concave
Daz told me to by one of these bits 50mm which I did but I only some times use it Bit Flap disc on angle grinder Sometimes I just draw a circle where I want it and just use the flap disc but I do use clamps to clamp it to the work table so I don't sand off my fingers Just make sure the concave is away from the nest hole so the hen won't jump on the eggs. Good luck Hey thanks Kaz But that hole you see is not the finish product, you need to use the flap disc to carve your circle now. I start from the outside working in going around in the circle.

How To Set Up A Breeding Cage And Manage The Breeding Of Budgerigars
My nest are the same as Daz's also and I use I think 1inch thick pine wood for the false bottom which I make my concave which goes up the end where I peek so that when the hen jumps in she lands on flat wood not the concave where the eggs are. I use a flap disc on a angle grinder to make my concave. works like a dream

Boof And Sophie
Yes I know but it's a pain when it comes out in spangle because you get marked against that but the problem is cinnamon gives you feather and opaline gives you size so with out the cinnamon my birds wouldn't have the feather they have. This bird would of won the best uncapped bird in Victoria if she wasn't cinnamon

Boof And Sophie
Looking forward to seeing pics of babies to see if dad is split opaline. Most of my cocks are split for opaline and or cinnamon and it's a pain in the neck especially when you are hoping for a normal hen and you keep getting opaline and cinnamon hens.

Golden Cob Vs Trill
I like to use Golden cob also but it is much to expensive now so I have switched to Howard Martin Riverina mix which it has extra canary seed in it for breeding time. I buy the 40kg bag at $66.00. Doesn't take me long to go through it.

Death In The Seed Catcher
That is so sad Renee. Greg has done an autopsy on a couple of my birds and one we dicovered it had tumours on the kidney. So even though it looks awful it does need to be done

How To Make A Hospital Cage
Yes that is the same one that I have made, off the same web site. I love it and have saved some of my best birds. But if I was to make enother one I would make it a litle bit deeper and put wire on the front so If the bird was only a little bit sick you could take the glass off oe pull it up a bit. Here is mine

Aviary Base
Yes my partner reckons that anything on the floor like lino and even cement attract mice because he thinks that's a hiding place for them. He most likely is right though, because I have never had mice in my aviaries yet. Ouch touch wood. I do have one flight which he did cement but that runs off my breeding room, it is like an indoor flight for my babies. I call it my baby flight in breeding season and my show flight in show season. I think I will just do the sand to be safe as I haven't had any trouble yet .

Aviary Base
After reading Kaz's bit on lime just wandering how save it really is because I was considering doing it too. My 3 main flights have sand floors and when we put the sand down it was at least 10 cm deep and every week I carefully sweep up the dropping etc with a brush and shovel trying not to take too much sand but as you can guess sand goes too. Well all my sand is gone and it only last about 12 months or so. I did put more on each time I cleaned but haven't for a while. But my main concern about the lime is that my birds dig and it's amazing what they fine so if I was to use lime they would end up digging it up so would that be dangerous. I have been begging Greg to cement them but he won't. RATS.

Water Bottles Vs Water Dishes
In my aviaries I have both, bottles on wall and bowls on floor but sitting on stand because my birds love to bath in the bowls which is a pain because I am constantly changing the water because it gets so dirty. BUT they love it so it is fine with me.

Wow what a lovely bird and he is lucky to have such loving owners. I also agree with Elly and everyone else.

Breeding Issues
If their breeding box is of good size and the pair are getting on together as long as they are not fighting just leave them, sometimes it takes time and they probably get along better than you think when you are not watching.

How Much Longer
I agree with Kaz, I keep mine in a kindy cage for as long as possible and when I do put them out if they look like they are struggling I put them back in the kindy cage until they are ready. BUT a top breeder told me if you don't have the room put them out about 8 weeks on as it is good for building up their muscle strength in their wings etc.

My Birds Keep Getting Sick.
I totally agree with Kaz and Liv, when the vet was going to do an autopsy on one of my dead birds he told me to do what Liv did vet put it down the bottom of the fridge till I was going over the next day. Good luck I hope you find the problem before it's too late.
