  1. Thanks Kaz I mentioned that to Greg last night and he kind of agreed with a smirk on his face but I think he is proud of our win. Thanks Richo i can't believe how nice my birds have turned out. Everyone at the show were admiring the Yellow Df Sp and his sibblings and I was getting congratulations of people before they even won anything.

  4. I put then on spark last year and they had energy galore wouldn't sit still so now I just give it to them after the show to pick them up because a couple of showers ask me what they were on and I said spark and they said no wonder they have energy and advise mr to give it to them after the show to pick them up.
  5. Can't wait to see them GB.

    and Welcome
  7. MORE EGGS The other 2 pair laid eggs today so the whole 4 are settling in well but I marked the first 2 this morning and when I checked before one of the hens destroyed her egg, so I won't be marking any more for a while, I must of disturbed her.
  8. Like a big sauna When I went to Geelong last weekend go to see some of the damage the fires did, it looked like it went straight along the Hume unbelievable and it looked so horrific.
  9. Love going to sleep when it is raining, but the sun is out now
  10. Hi every one. It's sooooo great it's raining buckets here. I wish you could hear it. We are going through the worst drought ever so this rain is great. :ratty: :ratty: :ratty: :ratty:
  11. take him off the egg etc for a few days and see if that makes a difference. I don't think they need egg unless they are feeding young. A seed diet and veges should be fine for him. like corn peas grated carrot silverbeet leaves, celery but I wouldn't give him anything except plain seed until his dropping become normal. Good luck

  14. I can't to see if they are fertile mainly from the sky nest and grey opaline because I didn't get anything from him last year. The the grey green nest had a couple of really good babies last year one is nearly a cracker so I have my fingers crossed, the second one died at 5 weeks and she was a beauty the 3rd was smal and nice true to the blood line.
  15. You should be careful how and when you treat your birds as to give them antibiotics or penicillin van build their Resistance to it. I only treat my birds when sick and I prefer to try something like SULPHA D product before using the hard stuff.
  16. I would love to go but can't . Have fun girls and be careful what you buy, do your homework first. What I learnt is go around and pick out the best birds with the best features then mark them off my cataloge because they will be the ones that they all go for like $900 plus each. Specially if you are after a I Hunter , P Thurn , A Rowe, Sheppard & Flanagan even a Loats bird they all went for big money at the Geelong Auction, BUt if you have that mucg to spent go for it
  17. Looking Great Kaz, should be really pleased with them
  18. Wow Libby between the two of you ya did a great job, that really looked painfull. I am glad it all worked and Shiloh's all better now.
  19. HAVE EGGS******* two hens layed yesterday, sky blue hen and grey opaline pair and grey green cinnamon opaline and grey green pair. Really happy with that as I put them down of the 5th. Sky spangle should lay any day too we really thought she would of being first to lay.
  20. Water mainly. Most times when they lose a tail feather it would of moulted out any way whether I was going to a show or not.
  21. Thanks Pearce, Renee and Daz, it doesn't matter if I don't do well because it is a learning thing. But I would hope to do a bit okay fingers crossed. I do have a couple of nice birds so we will see. Keep you informed If I get a chance I will take some photo's on the day. I am going to take my camera.
  22. Sunday is the Riverina Budgerigar Diploma Show, Have 20 birds entered and have 19 cages whoops. Been busy preparing them but all done now. I have been spraying them down which I found very hard when I started with 30 birds but I am now down to 19 as some have lost tail feathers etc. I have them on Probotic to get them ready. Wish me LUCK and I am really going to need
  23. I have one perch higher than the other, My perches run along the depth of the cage not across, You should only have one nest and one pair in each cage. The nest box should be up high not low. You need to cut a hole out of the top of one of the sides where you attach you next box. Are you in a club maybe one of your club members can make you some or you can get more cages like you have on ebay. Good luck
  24. I cull heavy each year Daz, I only keep the best of the best but then sometimes I think I cull to early not given them time to show their true potential but saying that most times if they don't have when their young they never will. I have been told by 2 very experience breeders that I cull to early need to keep them till they are at least 12 months old mainly because of their blood lines, and then they have said as long as I can live with culling them earlier, Well I think I can
