I am lucky Dean as the the parents seem to through good violets . from what I have bred the violets that come out of this nest are outstanding compared to say the greys. So the violet gene must be strong. And the viloets are throwing the genes to their offspring will put photos on layer tomorrow to show you all. .

  13. The parents I think it's the only photo of the hen I have The old boy my WOW bird You can see why I am getting suffusion using green and blue birds but they mix so well. I am focusing on the bird first then I will worry about variety once I have type. His son there were 2 the first year MB got his brother and a sister the next year Sister when young The paired the yellow Df with a cobalt spangle my idea of a bad mating at the time because of colour but look what I got. I will put the cobalt spangle up later. Sky opaline cinnamon spangle when a baby Earlier this year White DF spangle I will put the rest of the offspring up in a couple of days. Just lost photo bucket. I hope you enjoyed :ohmygod:

  17. Thanks everyone. It was pretty sad poor little darling. GB my birds getting plenty of sun in the aviaries but of coarse not in the breeding room but they get soluvite D in their water. It wouldn't be that as it is the 1st one I have lost lije that and I have been breeding since March. When I was loosing a few one day old chicks it was the hens faukt mainly but I did treat them all for yellow belly . Then the breeding improved slightly.
  18. I know what your talking about Kaz and your probably right, things are no better here. Maybe the birds can feel my moods and are stressed because of me
  19. So true Kaz my hopes for this nest and his brothers nest is fading by the day I was calling this boy my little stud because he filled 5 eggs but now I only have 2 left and his brother was put with his aunty full sister to their father she is a cinnamon spangle 1st nest clear and second nest 1 fertile egg which I am wating to hatch looking unlikely to me though.
  20. Sad today my white Df spangle cock was mated to grey opaline spangle well she has 3 in her nest one has splayed legs and I did what Kaz said but over night the legs blew up not enough circulation so I took it off and tied the legs with string on the rings as I am double ringing all birds at the moment. well one leg went down but the splayed one didn't very swollen but she is still alive and it is a week tomorrow since I did it, BUT i went out this morning and found her nest mate dead still warm and a full crop, I am heart broken as the Chick would be 18 days old at least. So not only do I get clear eggs now they are dying on me, this is the first one I have olst this season at this stage. I have lost a few at 1 day old. BUT not this age
  21. I really like those pieds Dave maybe they should be rehomed at Splat's place
  22. Hi Jodie, besides being stressful I don't think you can because of quarantine issues I think I spelled that wrong
  23. GB some of those birds are stunning, you really have a great start to the hobby Look forward to see what you breed
