  7. Looking great Shannon, doing better than me my birds are laying the eggs 7, 9, 10 in the nest all infertile or there might one 1 fertile egg in a nest. The only good news I have that I am over the moon with is that my good DF spangle that I have been winning with has fertile every egg 6 in total for his 1st nest and so far 3 have hatched. I am calling him my little stud. Just hope he throws nice babies like him Here's daddy

Hi Landau and to the forum you will find very imformative here, Neville gave you some great advice
  9. I agree that the normals will have a bit more suffusion than the opalines. However, I don't think that inos (in particular Lutinos) and lacewings provide the answer. Breeders of these varieties are always trying to increase the depth of colour in their birds. They do this by adding dark factor to, and eliminating grey factor from the mix. Dark factor is not wanted in clearbody breeding as it increases the body colour and the lacewings and Lutes mask the presence of the dark factor which makes it risky using them. My advice would be to breed them to albinos that are bred through greys and grey normals. With lacewings you will get some crossing-over of the sex chromosome which means you will occasionally breed cinnamon clearbodys. Check out http://www.euronet.nl/users/hnl/sexchrom.htm for a good description of crossing over during meiosis For what it is worth, I would be reluctant to cull on variety. The baby on the left looks to be decent quality, possesing shoulder and brow. It is easier to fix variety problems than it is to breed good type. Your budgies - your choice. Cheers, PT Great advice PT
  10. looking good Nubbly, I just love your Lacewings I myself have had a bad year for breeding clear egg after clea r egg

  16. Thanks Jenene hope so. I am sure I will :emoticon112:
  17. That looks great as for the new flight, I would not put food in there and then you don't have to worry to much about it getting wet. :emoticon112: But if you put food in you do need the keep the food dry.
  18. I agree with Dean, the bird may have been too young, I eucalyptus branches it is good for the birds
  19. Sounds great Jenene I found a vet yesterday that takes placements, so tomorrow I am going to enquire but we do not have a vet here in this town so I need to travel :emoticon112: .
  20. Yes Nubbly they will better off not going as it is a big day for them being babies and it's at least a 2 1/2 hour trip 1 way. Last time at the young bird shield we left here at 6.30 and didn't get home till about 6.30 that night it was a really long day and I was exhausted poor birds.
  21. Yes Pete Ky is out. Most of our members were waiting for the rings, Ian has a few but perching yet, Heath none and really it wasn't really worth Ky going as we only had a hand full of birds and the violet was the best. Ah well there is always the young bird shield
  22. That looks great Kaz Should see my wonky floor that Greg did
  23. Thanks NitsuD he is the best one I have bred so far the opaline conalt is his sister
  24. Cool might meet up with oneday Sunshine exam time
  25. Well our club has pulled out my violet lost hid tail feather today so I am not going. We didn't have enough birds in anyway so it is probably better this way.
