Yes GB he is very important to my breeding as he throughs feather lengh nearly every nest. Some of his offspring 6 week old 2009 daughters2008 and sons 2008 This nest I have 3 yellow Df Spangles but a bit pale in the yellow but looking okay. one has a good green sheen

My heavy marked ones have wing markings even my good Yellow DF spangle

actually tried that too Kaz but I was scared it would go in his eye as his eye is a bit damaged to it was all swollen up. I called her a few choice names

I have had a couple that bad, if you keep him put him with a grey hen and they will be all grey greens but it will get rid of the suffusion when you mate the young up later on. That's what I was doing with my yellow DF spangle, I had him with a grey hen for that reason but after laying 4 eggs she attacked him.

Hospital cage on his own for rest and quite to recuperate and put I cornflour on to stop the bleeding. he seems fine now but I was told they can die from shock up to a week later. If she had of killed him I would of been devastated truly

Saturday I was out checking the breeding birds when I notice my best bird the yellow DF spangle cock bleeding. After catching noticed that he had a deep cut under his cheek patch. He was down with an A Rowe bloodline hen and they had 4 eggs and then she went crazy. But he is very lucky I saw it when I did or I think he would be dead now.

Looking good GB the only thing I have to say is the grey green cinn hen by the photo looks she is short in the body as it looks there is not much space between the shoulder and the perch so make sure you put her with a long bird. PT is right breed for the best at this early stage not variety. I started out like you and went back to the dominant breeds to learn all I can. :rofl:

make dure you have seed in the cage as budgies need seed all the time but they can go without water for a spell.

I agree with the opaline too and both are still bar heads meaning uncapped (babies) starting to go through their 1st moult. :sadsorry:

they look like sky yellow face and cobalt yellow face normals to me from here but the yellow is very dark they could be golden face :sadsorry:

I have had similar problems Dave and I was told it could be yellow belly. So I had to dose them all on tripleC or similar.

Thanks Dave, I do give my birds beetroot but I have never given them the leaves but seems you do it must be safe.

Does anyone know if baby beetroot leaves are safe for the budgies, the ones you put in a salad mix. I Looked in the FAQ and couldn't find it.
