  1. You can treat canker with roni-vet. It cost about $20 for the plastic container, but that will last you years
  2. sky blue recessive pied cock yellow face type 2 cobalt blue hen (the yellow has already started to seep through the blue ont he chest and will be complete by the first moult) Those are my guess
  3. Well it has been 11 days since the last post on here. Quarantine continues. Some days my green as yet unamed boys is not looking the best, some days he is full of energy. He has been on Ronivet for 2 weeks, and has now changed to Triple C. He will be wormed after this. He is still struggling to put on weight though, but he is very active. At the moment he is doing his best to raise the doors on his cage and escape, to the extent I am going to have to put pegs onthe doors i think. Other birds are doing well. About 10 days until the birds from Deb can be released into the aviary. I am looking forward to that. Then just 4 more days until the next lot go in the aviary, then another 4 more days for the next 2. I have been HSC marking, and will be until Wednesday, so I have not been able to appreciate my birds as much as possible lately.
  4. You hae too much times on your hands Kaz - LOL. I am lucky enough to have time to post here, let alone make swings. How long until marking ends - arrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!! (Sorry)
  5. I am sorry to hear about your bad run AV. What is that saying? When life gives you lemons, may lemonade. Great advice, but it does not mean that you cannot squeeze citric acid into your eyes. Hope things improve
  6. hard to tell if my little spangle is getting better. I realise it will take time. I did not end up getting any birds from Warren Wilson, but I am jsut wanting quarnatine to end!!!
  7. Take out the female and remove her to an aviary he cannot see, and preferably not hear her. give her some alone time and the chance to rebuild her strength before she returns to an aviary. The cock can finish raising the young birds on his own at that age
  8. Great points Kaz. Sometimes people look for the easiest option, believing that you can just put the nestboxes in the aviary and off you go. Not that easy. Never was, never will be.
  9. My spangle boy looks better tonight he has had a long lasting anti-biotic and is on roni-vet this week, triple C next week he fluffs up all the time, has good feathers like that, but is thin underneath, thus the canker meds now to try to help with that, the hulled oats and sunflower seeds to fatten him up, and then triple c for general health next week. We will see how he goes. We hope and pray.
  10. I need a back area like yours. Since birds all come from different breeders, they are all quarantined seperately throughout the house and garage. Deb's 4 are in the garage. 3 hens from George are in the loungeroom Sick boy from George is upstairs in the bathroom 4 from Ivan are upstairs in the spare room 2 from Abi are downstairs in the laundry. Need to work out one more area as I am going to see Warren Wilson on Saturday night - LOL
  11. Well, I am not so sure that my boofy headed green spangled sick bird is going to make it. He eats, drinks the medicated water, poos normal, and even his feather growth is returning, but he just does not feel like he is putting on weight. I am trying to be patient, as I know it will take some time, but I worry. He still seems very alert, and yesterday he demolished the drink container, pulling it off the cage wall and knocking it over, so he is hardly lethargic, but the worry is still there. I just want Quarantine to end soon. My house is getting decimated with small white feathers that cling to everything and refuse to submit to the might power of the vacuum.
  12. they all look great
  13. Well, I did it again, bought some more birds. First let me update my sick bird. he is coming along, putting on weight, so hoping for the best Today I visited Ikon and bought 4 new birds Another light green spangle cock - 08 bird A sky blue cock - 07 bird A grey-green hen - 07 bird An opaline grey - 07 bird Group pics below
  14. I just love the fact that I used the correct term for a part of the wing, and it took my word otu and replaced it with asterix's
  15. okay, first a few updates. 1) The white bird is not an albino, it is a double factor spangle, which I am ever happier about. 2) The green spangle cock did not look well, so i took him out of the cage to look him over. he has some poo stuck to feathers, though the poo all looked normal (he is a heavily feathered bird) and he was fluffed up a bit. His flight feathers also looked a little strange. To make a long story short, i took him to the vet, who gave him a long-lasting antibiotic, was concerned he was underweight a little so told me to does him up on roni-vet, checked his droppings and they all looked good, looked at his wings and said that the flights were growing back, so he ruled out french moult. Anyway, he is in quarantine, seperate from the others, with everyone going through a roni-vet treatment. Now 3) the girls are on their own now, but still call out to him, and he answers 4) 2 new additions - both 07 rung birds First is a yellow face type 2 opaline spangle hen . I would say her body colour is grey. If it was mauve, I think she would go "greener". She looks a little diluted, so i am thinking she is a cinnamon spangle Second is a cinnamon wing grey dominant pied clear flight hen. She has a good head on her. She is missing her longest tail feathers at the moment, but they are growing back, 3/4 of the way there. the photos are misleading, due to the flash and the angle. It looks like she is missing flights, but they are there, it is just they are completely white and do nto stand out well. You can see them a little in the blurry second shot. So there we go. I will try to take some better pics. These were all taken on my phone, but I just found my camera. Last place you look - right where it should have been - go figure.
  16. things do not always go to script do they? Any pics of the little ones? I am not breeding my birds again until january, when my setup should be better, so I have to live vicariously through others, so all help provided is much appreciated.
  17. The TCB also looks to be an opaline
  18. I would enter the 3rd photo. I think that is the cutest, sitting, looking over her shoulder, but on her favourite toy.
  19. Even between the 1st and 2nd/3rd pics, you can see that she has become smoother. The seed diet will suit her much better, so i am glad to see that she has taken to seed. I forgot all about her when i was up there (was that only last weekend - wow) otherwise I would have one the "picture with roxy" thing. I love how the 2nd and 3rd pics give the illusion that you are outside and this bird is sitting on your finger. Very cool
  20. i remember that one now. Good choice.
  21. there is definitely some dilute there, but the wings are not normal. Is it possible that this bird is a spangle? or a greywing? Does greywing slute the body? what about both?
  22. Deb, Any updated pics of Roxy so we can see the feather change? or is it in another thread?
  23. Which tree did you cut down? Not the big grevillea? I say choose callistemons over grevilleas. Their branches are "springier" and they tend to grow more in bunches/thicker. This means that there is more branches that can be pruned.
